A podcast covering the important news and results from the world of sports.
On this week's show, we remember Jose Fernandez. And also talk about some other stuff.
There were some important college football games involving highly-ranked teams. Also, I think the #9 ranking might be haunted. The Buffalo Bills are in trouble but the Vikings are pretty happy. Manchester United is going through a rough patch, but Liverpool fans are excited. And the USA World Cup of Hockey team proves to be an absolute dumpster fire. All that and more on this week's episode.
The first weekend of college football delivered in a big way. We'll cover that, and then look ahead to Week 2. Also, I'll preview the AFC and a surely-doomed Super Bowl pick. The USMNT handles its business in World Cup qualifying and unearths a couple of key contributors. Finally, we'll look ahead to the upcoming weekend's best games.
I predict this will end badly, because my predictions usually do. On this week's show: college football playoff picks, NFC predictions (we'll get to the AFC next week), discussions of the MLB playoff format, and a bit of concern over the USMNT's World Cup qualifiers. Oh, and I drool over college football's week 1 schedule.
That's right, it's college football time! I go conference-by-conference, division-by-division, picking the winners of each one. It's also time to put a nice little bow around the Rio Olympics, ponder the stubborn San Diego Chargers, and cover the first two weeks of Premier League action.
In this episode, Manchester United spends all of the money on Paul Pogba. San Diego argues with Joey Bosa over when he gets his money. Also, the Olympics have brought us doping arguments, finger wagging, and #PhelpsFace, and they're not even halfway over.
Free agency is the topic of the day, both in the NBA (everyone gets the money!) and the NHL (some guys get the money!). I'll point and laugh at the Montreal Canadiens, since trading away your second-best player is rarely a good strategy. Also covered on this week's show: Jonathan Lucroy's rejected trade, a look ahead to the Premier League season, and a couple of things that make me sad.
The four-team college football playoff is set. Are the Patriots in trouble? (Hint: No.) Carey Price is hurt again, but the Canadiens are fine. MLB's offseason has livened up. And what is U.S. Soccer's problem? All that and more on this week's show.
A slightly shorter show this week, with lots of college football talk. I also take a quick look at the biggest NFL stories of the week, serve the weekly notice that Golden State is still undefeated, and recommend some games for you to watch while you stuff yourself with Thanksgiving leftovers.
The USMNT has ended a rough year with a pair of good results. Oklahoma has shaken up the Big 12. Cincinnati has been knocked from the ranks of NFL unbeatens. Should the NHL make the nets larger? Does the front office of the Atlanta Braves have an ego problem? All that and more on this week's show.
Lots of college football talk this week, as three of the four teams I had in my playoff rankings last week lost. We have a handful of NFL teams still hanging on to their undefeated records. I'll talk about some potentially impactful NHL injuries and the Golden State Warriors' hot start. Jose Mourinho seems to be just hanging on at Chelsea, and a loss can't dampen the enthusiasm for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. And as always, we'll close with a look ahead at what games to watch this week.
Fall must be here for real, because the World Series is over. It's time to dissect the College Football Playoff committee's first set of rankings. There's a quick recap of the biggest NFL games from last week. We'll cover Chelsea's 3-1 defeat to Liverpool and Jose Mourinho's future, as well as a pair of big NHL injuries.
In the spirit of Halloween, I start the show talking about sports nightmares (Wondolowski's miss, anyone?). We'll cover the NFL, including the Bengals cheerleaders' lawsuit settlement and Greg Hardy's continuous inability to act right. The college football scene gets shaken up on what had looked to be a straightforward weekend of action. I make a difficult World Series pick. And are Jose Mourinho and Bruce Boudreau about to get fired?
Fall is in the air, but judging by the high-profile mistakes in last week's games, so is failure! I recap the crazy seventh inning between the Rangers and Blue Jays, catch up on the rest of the MLB playoffs, review the remaining undefeated NFL teams, marvel at Michigan State's escape from the Big House, make a Stanley Cup pick, and more.
On this week's show, I start with Chase Utley's hard slide and the bad luck of the Pirates. I separate the NFL's undefeated teams into three groups, and then explain why the groups don't matter. There's a lot of college football news to cover. I talk about two USC coaches named Steve, and I'm asking my fellow UGA fans to pump the brakes on the doom and gloom train. And finally, a lot of the soccer news in this week's show revolves around people named Jurgen.
Lots of football talk on this week's show. I review the big games from college football's week 1, including Wisconsin vs. Alabama and Ohio State at Virginia Tech. I'll also look ahead at the first week of the NFL season and make my Super Bowl picks. At the end, some recommended viewing for this weekend, including the return of the Barclays Premier League after a one-week hiatus for the international break.
It's football time! Here's the end of my college football preview, the start of my NFL preview, and of course the weekly roundup of all the soccer action in the Barclays Premier League, as well as a few transfer-related stories.
On this week's show, I'll try to decide whether MLB has a foul ball problem. I discuss Chris Borland's retirement. I continue my college football preview from last week's episode, and I close with the weekly rundown of action in the Barclays Premier League.
In this episode of weekly sports podcast Talk Me Out to the Ballgame, I discuss the New York Mets and the use of innings limits and pitch counts for pitchers. I'll cover Philip Rivers and his contract extension with the Chargers. I'll start previewing the upcoming college football season and tell you two teams are locks to make it to the playoff, and I wrap up with a review of the weekend's action in the Barclays Premier League.
