In September the ‘Unite the Kingdom' rally, organised by far-right activist Tommy Robinson, drew many thousands of people to London. Advertised as the UK's biggest ‘Free Speech Festival', speakers made calls to reaffirm Britain's Christian foundations. Many held wooden crosses and flags with Christian slogans, and the crowds were led in reciting the Lord's Prayer. In response to the march, a group of Church of England bishops and senior clergy joined leaders from across denominations to write a letter condemning the “co-opting or corrupting” of the Christian faith and symbols to exclude others. The letter said that ‘communities felt anxious, unsettled and even threatened by aspects of the march.'Meanwhile operation ‘Raise the Colours', a campaign to cover Britain in flags, has seen St. George's flags appear on lamp posts across England. Some see flying the flag as patriotism, while others are concerned and say the movement is underpinned by far-right nationalists.Today we'll explore the issues. Why is it different to fly a Welsh Flag or a St. George's Cross? What is the difference between patriotism and nationalism? In what way was the ‘Unite the Kingdom' march unsettling and exclusionary to others? Delyth Liddell is joined by Reverend Rhys Llwyd, leader of a Welsh speaking Baptist Church in Caernarfon, North Wales. The Rt Rev Philip North, Bishop of Blackburn who has recently written an article arguing that the flying of flags is a cry from long neglected communities. Suzanne Philpott lives near Swansea. She attended the ‘Unite the Kingdom' rally in September and is a Christian. Ross Hendry is from Llanelli and is the CEO of Christian Action Research and Education. He was a joint signatory of the letter “Do not ‘co-opt' the cross to divide."

The Drive opened the show discussing how early returns are that the AFC West is as difficult as people imagined.

”Magic mushroom” edibles sold at smoke shops and other retailers might be missing psilocybin but can contain undisclosed ingredients, according to a joint study published Thursday.    Oregon State University researchers collaborated on the analysis with Rose City Laboratories, a state-certified testing lab in Portland, and the manufacturer Shimadzu Scientific Instruments.   The edibles, including gummies and chocolates, contained caffeine and synthetic psychedelics. Richard van Breemen worked on the research and is a professor of pharmaceutical sciences at OSU.  “Syndelics represent a rapidly growing area of drug design, where medicinal chemists create novel compounds inspired by known psychedelic agents like psilocybin and LSD,” van Breemen said in a press release. He joins us with details of the study.

Due to tech issues, overwriting part of their database did not go as planned. Instead of advertising each room as a luxury stay, they were shown as regular rooms—boring, right? Likewise, it didn't help that the moment they launched their product, COVID happened and the lockdown started. While they banked on the fact that things would pick up soon and they could leverage coupons and such, they failed to see that their chosen payment platform didn't cater to all the countries they were targeting. Efforts are underway to progress a bill that would make it illegal for those letting a property to offer reduced or free accommodation in exchange for sex. Under the proposed legislation, which is now at second stage, landlords found guilty of the offence could face fines of up to €50,000. According to the new rules that went into effect August 17, 2024 you may not display any form of compensation in the Multiple Listing Service. This includes a Bonus.     You may however advertise it ANYWHERE ELSE. Sky writing. A billboard. A tattoo that says Bonus!   It's an easy rule. Just ask yourself: is this the MLS? If it's Facebook, or a television ad, the answer is clearly No.    Similarly, according to the new rules a real estate agent may not show a house to a customer without a written agreement that specifies how much the real estate agent will be paid.  Can a listing agent show a potential buyer his or her listing?  Sure.  Because that Buyer is not a customer.  If that Buyer becomes a customer, they need a written agreement.  It's an easy rule.
