Despite the Whitecaps going down to 10 men, and then 9, LAFC's chances either connected with the woodwork or went wide. The match would be lost in penalties, as both Sonny and Mark Delgado missed their chances and LAFC fell on kicks, 4-3. The Steve Cherundolo era is officially over.
