Hey this John Yeager with another episode of Think Business. Today we have Candice Klein on our show. Candice is president of Klein Contracting and CEO of Meta Team welcome Candice thanks for joining us at Think Business. Thank you for having me nice to see you John. You too, so tell me a little bit about Klein contracting and then how that relates to Meta Team and give us a little background of how you got here. It's an interesting story I know. So I am a commercial roofer Klein Contracting is a commercial roofing company that has been around for 32 years. I'm the president of it and as you can see I'm female which makes me kind of an anomaly in my field. We do commercial roofing only. Let me be clear because my friends will call and want me to do their houses and I can't help them but what happened was we were looking at our market and my market is the Southeast United States and we are certified as a woman-owned business. We decided it's really not the best thing to service my client's needs when I can only have a geographical footprint that's about this big. There are other wonderful women-owned roofing companies in other areas that also do amazing work that could service clients needs. We got to mulling this over and a little birdie whispered in my ear put them all together. So what happened is I got together with two other really dynamic women-owned roofing companies and an amazing other businesswoman and the four of us created what is now the Meta Team. #JohnYeager #CandiceKlein #ThinkBusiness

Today we have what I call part two of our continuous planning dialogue. Last episode we talked to a couple folks about the infrastructure setting up and FPNA service and FPA tools and vision and those kinds of things and today I want to get into really the nuts and bolts of it. I have been preparing business valuations for over 20 years now and some small boutique firms before I joined Bennett Thrasher. Six-plus years ago I think partner there a couple years and so we run a group that does valuation services for a variety of purposes. Our topics today are around continuous planning and how I get there from here. So this is very timely in this day and time because of everybody starting to come out of pandemic and they've got a lot of questions about how they move forward, what the employment looks like, what their financials are look like, how can they come back? Those kind of things. So we thought is a very timely message. So Jim question for you first is what do you tell people if you think their planning is stuck in neutral? How do we help the clients get out of that position of neutrality and kind of stuck in the mud? - Well I think it becomes first as a mindset right? People are used to doing an annual planning budget obviously is weekend this year that's kind of gone into the trash in the first three months of the year. So it's really a matter of saying okay, I want to start looking and I want to start understanding what's driving the business and I want to be able to pivot and change quickly. Yeah thanks John I appreciate it so yeah Chris DeBlasio company is agency 850 so I'm an executive producer also the CEO of the company we produce a lot of videos we help people with their personal branding we produce shows and we work in the film and entertainment business on product placement side and we do a lot of a lot of graphics there but but ya work we're excited we're partnering together on this on this show absolutely well Chris and I met through Vistage if anybody wants to go check it out it's a great coaching mentoring learning platform and so we met a group there and and decided about a month or so ago that we were gonna create this series to get more information out to business owners and CEOs about aspects relate to the business world and then obviously the world changed in the last couple weeks and so we thought you know we got we got to change with it which I'm sure many of you guys out there are doing your you're trying to figure out okay how does my business adjust to this new normal we have so it's obviously a crazy time to start a web series but also maybe a fortuitous time as well so our original purpose was to is to do some interviews with business owners CEOs talk about specific issues related to them what we've done is kind of pivoted a little bit on that and now we're kind of talk a little bit about connectedness and an optimism you know that we have to show
