Trust influences everything. It helps shape decisions, drives loyalty, and defines reputation. It's the foundation of strong leadership, lasting relationships, and long-term success, across all areas of society. But in today's world, trust is harder to earn – and easier to lose. And at times, it can feel like a balancing act due to shifting values and high expectations. 71% of people say they're more likely to buy from a brand they trust – and 78% will recommend one. Trust shapes the businesses we choose to work with, buy from and believe in. And with many organisations learning to navigate the ‘trust crisis', being seen as trusted has never been so important for businesses and leaders alike. So what does it really take to build trust? How do leaders do it best – and what breaks it down? And when trust is damaged, can it ever be rebuilt? That's what we're exploring in this episode of The Green Room with Ed Williams, President, International at Edelman, and Shauna Robinson, Lead Partner for Public Policy at Deloitte UK, as we ask: What does it take to build trust? Tune in to find out: How trust is measured and the key elements that build it What businesses should focus on to build trust with diverse audiences How we're all impacted by the trust crisis and how to navigate it Why leaders need to be human in a technologically driven world Enjoyed this episode? A total of 62% of top Irish companies have adopted AI technologies to support their operations, according to new Deloitte research produced in collaboration with UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. Adoption is advancing fastest in technology-driven sectors, with 94% of technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) businesses surveyed saying that they use AI. The finding is included in a survey of 115 indigenous, private limited businesses participating in Ireland's Best Managed Companies programme. The top use cases for AI include employee support and internal productivity (28%), operational efficiency and automation (22%), and sales/marketing and customer engagement (15%). Separately, operational process improvements (55%) are the leading innovation priority across companies surveyed. One in three companies (33%) listed the cost of doing business as a top challenge and key strategic focus. This is particularly high in specific industries and sectors, with 41% of family businesses and 51% of companies in the consumer industry citing it as their foremost challenge. Talent acquisition and retention remain high on the agenda, with 23% of companies naming it as a key challenge, and the leading barrier to growth at 28%. When asked about their talent retention strategies, 95% of companies surveyed said they were prioritising the improvement of engagement between employees and management, 78% said they were increasing investment in professional development, while 72% are introducing wellbeing programmes, and 66% are increasing staff compensation. Geopolitical and regulatory challenges were also a significant barrier to growth and a priority area for respondents, with one in four companies (25%) closely monitoring policy changes and trading dynamics. Among the companies in the cohort, 57% of companies report that women make up at least 20% of their C-suite, while 16% have achieved gender balance with 50% or more female representation at this level. However, these figures tend to be lower in STEM-focused sectors. Developing new products and services emerged as the foremost growth strategy, with nearly two-thirds (65%) of companies indicating it will play a key role in their growth plans over the next five years. A total of 55% of respondents expect to grow their business through mergers and acquisitions (M&A), while international expansion and increasing headcount were each cited by 52% of companies. Only 9% of businesses said they would use third-party debt for growth. Over three-quarters (76%) of TMT companies cite M&A as a key growth strategy, and 71% are allocating resources to international expansion to accelerate growth and capture new market opportunities. Private equity-backed businesses are also prioritising international growth, with 57% of PE-backed companies identifying overseas expansion as a strategic focus. Brian Murphy, Lead Partner for Ireland's Best Managed Companies Awards Programme, said: "Rising costs continue to challenge businesses across the board, but Ireland's Best Managed Companies are powering through with remarkable resilience, unstoppable ambition, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. "Innovation is a key theme, and across every industry, launching new products and services is the top growth strategy for the next five years. These companies are not just talking the talk; they're walking the walk, with 62% already harnessing the power of AI to enhance productivity. "Talent acquisition and retention remain tough battles, but the Best Managed Companies are winning by putting their people first; focusing on employee engagement and investing heavily in professional development to boost overall performance. "This survey of Ireland's Best Managed Companies sends a clear message: we must champion our homegrown businesses, fuel their growth, and support their scaling journey to become the next wave of great Irish success stories." This year's winners of the Ireland's Best Managed Companies prog...

What is the impact on how markets operate and the opportunity for participants? And are we entering a period of re-regulation and intervention after the steady march of liberalization over the past 25 years? In our latest episode, we chat with Franck Cormier, the Lead Partner and President of Smarttasking Inc. He shares insights from his extensive career, having held roles at AT&T, Orange Business Services, Ciena, and Vodafone, focusing on driving innovation and transformation. Franck shares a leadership philosophy grounded in three key principles that were born from a client complaint that led to a strategic pricing review. First, there is the need to "think the future from the future," which involves envisioning long-term goals and planning. Next is the necessity of "bringing the team together on a common agenda," fostering collaboration and unity within the organization. Lastly, he highlights the value of "creating impact from the start," ensuring that initial efforts yield tangible results to build momentum and credibility. In addition to these principles, Franck is deeply committed to fostering innovation and creating an environment where teams can thrive. He champions the importance of emotional intelligence in leadership, believing that understanding and addressing the human aspects of change are vital for success. Franck's approach is not just about implementing strategies but also about nurturing a culture of continuous improvement and resilience, explaining that organizations need to accept that some initiatives will not scale. He notes that in a world where the pace of change is accelerating and there is a lot of volatility and uncertainty, it is crucial for companies to adapt and support those who can play an active role in the organization and making sure that they are supported to ensure that their visions are realized. The word sustainability made it into the mainstream vocabulary in the 1970s around the time of the first Earth Day. It has been thrown around as to make the actions of businesses more appealing and has become an instrument for show without much data behind it to demonstrate its effectiveness. Sustainability is a term and practice that is designed to meet the needs of the current generation and has been adopted at the top levels of government - e.g. United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. Regeneration is the new paradigm, that when defined well and understood, it can be measured and transcend the test of time by living and learning to work in harmony with the very essence of life itself - nature. Giles states it simply. Regeneration is about working the way life works. By recognizing that we as busy consumers have fallen out of sync with life, and now it's important to allow ourselves to remember the inherent grammar that is innate within nature. The deeper response goes into three levels of insight that will help unlock our potential as leaders and to reimagine organizational consciousness. The power of regeneration and learning from living systems, broken into three interconnected levels. Understanding nature, nature's patterns, principles and processes, including disciplines such as biomimicry, circular economics and systems thinking that help us work with the principles and processes we find within life with an open mind. With an open heart, systemic participation within living systems; embody experience working with systemic dynamics within the organization as a living system and immersed within life. The third level is open will: Leading to an existential shift tuning into nature's wisdom, and knowing that there is actually much more to life than meets the eye. It is not only the biological understanding of life, but a bio-psycho-spiritual receptivity and opening into life, which allows us to work with the inherent wisdom, innate within life. About Giles Hutchins: Giles Hutchins is a pioneering practitioner, keynote speaker, and executive coach who stands at the forefront of a consciousness-raising revolution in organizational leadership. With over 20 years of experience in helping organizations of all sizes transform, Giles applies advanced techniques, deep-dive nature immersions, embodiment work, ancient wisdom tradition insights, and cutting-edge research on leadership consciousness. More recently, Giles served as the Global Head of Sustainability for Atos, a global technology provider with a presence in over 40 countries and employing more than 150,000 people. In this role, he played a pivotal role in integrating sustainable practices into the company's operations, aligning business goals with environmental and social responsibilities. Currently, Giles holds the position of Chairman at the Future Fit Leadership Academy, where he continues to push the boundaries of leadership development. He is also the Lead Partner of The Natural Business Partnership, which focuses on bringing nature-inspired approaches into the business world. As a co-founder of Biomimicry for Creative Innovation and Regenerators.co, Giles actively promotes innovative and regenerative practices that draw inspiration from the natural world. Giles' impact reaches beyond his roles as a practitioner and coach as he is an accomplished author and co-author of several influential papers and books, including "The Nature of Business" (2012), "The Illusion of Separation" (2014), "Future Fit" (2016), "Regenerative Leadership" (2019), and "Leading by Nature" (2022). Through his writings, Giles shares his insights into the interconnectedness of nature and business, urging leaders to adopt a more holistic and regenerative approach to their work. Always Be Cool (ABC) Podcast - Bobby Kerr & Darren Copeland of SummitLendingUSA.com
Born and raised in the working class city of Detroit, Michigan. So things were hard. I was raised by a single mother who taught me early on that the key to success was having a hard work ethic. That work ethic directly translates over to success in the mortgage industry. I started working food service jobs when I was 14 and learned early on the value of elite client service. As a youth, I fell in love with music and skateboarding. Those two communities were diverse, supportive, and got me through some tough times. Since I barely graduated high school, I thought I would pursue another one of my passions - cooking. Flunked out of culinary school and worked hard in bars for a few years until I moved back to Michigan. I got a degree in English education. Much like educators, mortgage professionals help individuals overcome obstacles. Unfortunately, teaching didn't pay well and I had a few friends that worked in the mortgage industry down at Quicken Loans. I started at UWM in May of 2016 as an Account Executive. Rode that for a year, but teaching was in my blood. I built a Sales Coaching Team here at UWM and eventually was selected as one of the individuals to build Success Track. In 2021, Mat had a vision to create a team to help mortgage professionals all across the country grow. One of the main things I've picked up from Mat, is the idea of Servant Leadership. I embrace that as a leader of the Partner Services Team. Work ethic, attitude, and the idea of reaching the top together is a mindset I embrace every day.The mortgage industry is 100,000 percent mindset based. If you wake up positive, you will make an impact, those impacts are little victories, those little victories add up to championships.theBobbyKerr.com | @thebobbykerr | SummitLendingUSA.com ABC PodcastFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/alwaysbecoolpodcastTwitter: https://twitter.com/thebobbykerrInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/alwaysbecoolpodcast/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thebobbykerrYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@alwaysbecoolSummit LendingFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/SummitLendingUSATwitter: https://twitter.com/SummitLendingUSInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/summitlendingusa/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/summitlendingkc/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/loantipskc

He calls for a shift from the machine mindset to a living-systems mindset; from a world that is made of separate parts, to a world that is interconnected and interdependent. If you want to be part of creating more humane and sustainable workplaces, this is an important podcast to listen to! Once you have your MBS and certificate, how do you translate that knowledge into the working world and make some lasting change? Today we are joined by a couple of very special Haas MBA alumni that have developed their careers in sustainability with very different paths. We will hear from Tracy Gray who is a Haas MBA alumni class of 2007. She is the Founder and Managing Partner at The 22 Fund, the Founder of non-profit We Are Enough focused on educating women on how to invest, and Lead Partner at Porfolia Green and Sustainability Fund. She tells us about her impressive career path that ranged from space engineer, band manager, mayoral advisor to finally entering the sustainability space, as well as her perspectives in the early stage impact investment. We will also be joined by Evan Wiener. He is also a Haas MBA alumni class of 2014 and currently Head of Circular Economy at H&M with past experiences in Nike and Adidas. He tells us about his work in corporate sustainability.Episode Quotes:Privileges and Environmental Intersectionality and Venture Capital (Tracy)13:21 - Especially in venture and private equity and climate investment. Once again, like crypto, like everything, they are not thinking intersectional or holistically about, you know, women and people of color experience the worst of these impacts more than anyone in the world yet we're not given the capital to come up with a solution. We know the solutions because we experience it. So we've got, you know, privileged white guys who are telling us, here's how you're going to fix your problem. And it's not the way it should work. Different types of jobs in corporate sustainability (Evan)35:52 - Thinking that you want to work in the world of corporate sustainability is still so, so broad, right? I mean, you could be a specialist in an analytics department, you could work in supply chain. You could be building products, working in innovation. You could be a materials expert.Circular economy (Evan)45:17 - Sustainability is often I think most effective when you break down silos. When you connect dots between supply chain, logistics, product, innovation, marketing, and circular economy allows companies to break those silos down.It also allows companies to break down silos outside of their four walls. To think about how to collaborate on things like material innovation on supply chain disruptions, new manufacturing technology. Things that previously had been considered competitive, circular economy is saying, hey, we all need to solve these problems.Show Links:Tracy Gray on LinkedInThe 22 FundWe Are EnoughEvan Wiener on LinkedInSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/here-at-haas/donations
In episode sixteen of the Life Science Connect podcast, we dive into the conversation around our fourth report in our Future of Public Health series; Negating the gap - Preventing ill health and promoting healthy behaviours. Joining our host Karen Taylor, Research Director of the Deloitte UK Centre for Health Solutions, is Dr Karen Kirkham, Chief Medical Officer and Lead Partner for Integration in Deloitte's Health and Social Care team and Sara Siegel, Deloitte's UK and EMEA Head of Healthcare as we examine the crucial role of public health in health protection, ill-health prevention and in promoting healthy behaviours. Listen to hear more about this debate and see what some of the experts have to say on this topic
Tracy Gray, our guest in this special episode, is a Managing Partner at The 22 Fund, Founder at We Are Enough, and Lead Partner at Porfolia Green & Sustainability Fund. She is an innovative and visionary leader with solid international, investment, business strategy, and marketing experience. With over 15 years of demonstrative team and project management success, including a 200% increase in project funding, Tracy is a relationship builder across various industries – from technology to venture capital to entertainment. Having an Air Force veteran for a father, Tracy spent the early years of her life in Okinawa, Japan, and lived in different parts of the US before settling in Lompoc, California, near the Vandenberg Air Force Base in Santa Barbara County. Because of this experience, she fell in love with traveling (She has already been to 42 countries!). It is also why Tracy focused on international business. Tracy shares her experiences from college and what she did after graduating, how being a B-student landed her a job at NASA, and how she ended up in the Mayor's office, which is how she came up with her strategy with The 22 Fund.Being an active citizen in Los Angeles, Tracy also tells us the importance of helping and supporting the community we live in, especially disadvantaged people who don't have the same privileges as we do. She also tells us why she pursued an MBA even after having years of unique professional experiences and how she started and founded The 22 Fund. It is the only one of its kind, investing in high potential women and BIPOC-owned tech-based manufacturing companies to increase their international sales (exporting), with a mission of creating the clean, quality jobs of the future in underserved communities. Episode Quotes: On having the courage to go after what she wanted to study in collegeA lot of research shows that when girls don't do well, we quit, and we do something else. And I hate to be a statistic, but I quit Mechanical Engineering and went into where I was really good, Math. And that's how I landed on Applied Math, Mathematical Science as my major because I still loved engineering, and I wanted to be in Aeronautics. There's no Aeronautics at Santa Barbara, so what I did is I kind of created my own degree. And thank God there was a woman in the Math Department, a Black woman, and she let me do this - create this Mathematical Science degree with Aeronautics emphasis. And that's how I made my decision. And so, if there's someone young trying to figure out their decision in going to school and listening, I would say, don't be afraid to do what you really want and to say what you want. If I hadn't said I wanted to do this and take this chance and create my own major almost, I would have had a whole different life path probably. But whatever gave me not being fearful about asking that was really fortunate. On her duty as a citizenI just am the type of person where if I'm living someplace, I've got to be active, helping, supporting the community I live in. And it doesn't matter if it's my county or my city or my micro-neighborhood; I am going to be a citizen. I feel like all the work I've done around Los Angeles is my duty as a citizen. I don't know another way to exist in the world as a citizen if you don't support where you live and support the people who don't have all the advantages as you do. On pursuing an MBAIt's kind of a societal issue for women, especially Black women. I don't want to say we never think we're enough, but we never think we have enough credibility in the eyes of others that we can do the job we want to do. And so, I knew I wanted to start my own fund, but I always thought I needed as much credibility as possible and more education. That's why Black women are the most educated demographic in the country because we get all these degrees because people think we don't know enough or aren't enough. We know we are, but we got to get it on paper. So, I wanted to get my MBA for that reason. On founding her nonprofit, We Are EnoughAll these women were coming up to me crying over a finance talk. And that is where I saw, okay, this is a deep trauma, deep work that women need to do around our money and our power around money and our being okay with power. And so, I launched We Are Enough. The only thing we do is educate everyday women on why and how to invest in women in businesses or with a gender lens on the public markets. Because when you grow women's wealth, all those 17 SDG, sustainable development goals that you hear a lot about, the majority of them are positively impacted by women growing their wealth. On their unique strategy in investing in manufacturingI knew I wanted a win-win strategy with high impact and high returns. And I wanted something that had multiple impacts. And so, I landed on manufacturing. People didn't understand that the foundation of our economy literally is manufacturing and making things and selling them abroad. So, if you're a manufacturer that exports your products to another country but you're located here, you create jobs faster, you pay higher wages, and you're more likely to have healthcare. On top of that, when you export, you have higher revenues and are more resilient and more successful. Our strategy of investing in manufacturing to increase their international sales causes our impacts. We call ourselves holistic investors, not impact investors, because we hit multiple positive impacts. It's not siloed with climate change, race, gender, economic development. We hit it all just from this one strategy in investing in manufacturing to increase their export capacity. So, our mission is to create what we call the clean, quality jobs of the future and low and moderate-income communities and increase generational wealth for women and people of color. And that all happens just by our strategy.Thoughts on Black History MonthYou've got to keep highlighting history because people want to try to erase it. And I wonder why they want to erase it. Why are they fearful? Why are they trying to protect kids from the wrongs in the world? So, I'm very informed. You can't help being a Black person and not be informed by our ancestors. It's ancestral trauma, right? It is with us all the time and it's deep. And it informs a lot of what we do. History will repeat itself if you forget what happened and we're in the middle of that right now. Another thing about Black History Month is it added LatinX History Month, Asian History Month. It added all that. And it allowed now with all the trauma around race in our country, every race is starting to see, you know, when people come after Black people, they start looking for another place to come after. They come after all of us that do not fit in a particular way they think we should be. And so, when I think about Black History Month and the history of Black people, it's a history of all people in this country, right? This isn't just my history. And it informs a lot of how people of color are treated. And so this year of the race and ethnic months, I feel like we need one month at the end called the multicultural month where we all come together and talk about the power and the beauty of different cultures and what it has built in this country.Show Links:Tracy Gray on LinkedInThe 22 FundWe Are EnoughSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/onehaas/donations
