Briar Nolet is an amazing young dancer who first entered the spotlight as a young Richelle on J troupe in the television show, The Next Step. Over the years she has become one of the longest standing cast members having appeared on every season of the hit television show.However, it wasn't actually dancing that was her first passion. Young Briar followed in her parents gymnastics footsteps from a very early age inspired by their Olympic achievements.Concerned about injury her parents introduced her to dancing at age 7 and from that moment she has gone from strength to strength. Apart from her role on The Next Step, she has also graced our screens on World of Dance which then landed her the incredible opportunity of opening for J Lo on tour. But it hasn't always been smooth sailing. At the age of 16 Briar started experiencing seizures and was told she would need to retire from dancing.Continuing on, despite the challenges, she was finally diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 19 and able to receive treatment to enable her to continue pursuing her dreams. Briar proves that hardwork and determination can lead you to great things.Make sure you check out the exciting announcement Briar has for you at the end of this episode! Allain Lupien might best be known for his role as the super villain Lucien in The Next Step. It is, however, his work as a Dance Studio Owner and Principal that first brought him to the attention of The Next Step Producers. Allain Lupien operates The Canadian Dance Company. Under his direction, CDC has won the highest awards in the major dance competitions in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. His Choreography represented Team Canada in the World Dance Championships in 2005 and achieved the highest medal standings for Canada to date.His training has produced many professionals in Dance including many of the incredible dancers you watch on The Next Step including; Briar Nolet, Myles Erlick, Noah Zulfikar, Lamar Johnson and Isaac Lupien. Here is your chance to get to know the man behind the amazing choreography and dancing. Mitchell Jackson grew up training in Ontario Canada in jazz, ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, and musical theatre. Within two years as a competitive dancer, he had won multiple awards. He then went on to train in Toronto, New York and Los Angeles. As a dancer, he has appeared in multiple television shows and music videos by leading artists. In Los Angeles, he taught at the Millennium Dance Complex. His students have gone on to perform with music stars like Carly Rae Jepsen and Justin Bieber and appear on So You Think You Can Dance Canada. Mitchell continues to work with dance studios and competitions across North America as a choreographer, teacher, and adjudicator. He has also created his own dance competition OTF – The Ultimate Dance Experience and is the director of Intrepid Dance Company. Mitchell works closely with Briar Nolet and even choreographed for her on World of Dance and when she toured with Jennifer Lopez.
