There's a reason the defense filed this lawsuit in federal court instead of state court. Federal rules let them run their own investigation in a way the murder case never allowed. They can force sworn interviews. They can demand documents that haven't been made available through the criminal process. And they can pull in anyone connected to the Colleton County courthouse during the first trial — not just Becky Hill.Hill already pleaded guilty criminally. That established what she did. This lawsuit is about finding out what everybody else knew. If Hill gets put under oath in the federal case and refuses to answer certain questions, that creates its own set of problems. If she answers and names other people, the defense has a story to tell the second jury that's bigger than one clerk gone rogue. The defense also has to decide how far to push this before the retrial starts. If the lawsuit settles, the sworn interviews and document demands go away. That means the defense loses the only tool it has for finding out whether Hill acted alone. Private companies are staying private longer, and that changes who gets liquidity, when, and why.Founders, employees, and early investors can wait a decade or more for an IPO or acquisition. Meanwhile, venture funds face growing pressure to return capital, and many of Europe's best companies struggle to access the growth capital needed to scale. In this conversation, Christian Soschner speaks with Alberto Chalon, Co-Founder of Giano Capital, about the rise of single-asset secondary investments and why they have become an important part of the European innovation ecosystem.Topics include:• What secondary transactions are and why they matter• Why many companies now stay private far longer than before• How founders, employees, and early investors can access liquidity before an exit• The differences between venture capital, private equity, and late-stage secondary investing• Europe's challenge with risk capital, fragmentation, and scaling companies• Lessons from investments such as Revolut, GetYourGuide, and Deliveroo• The role of resilience, sport, and long-term thinking in business and investingAlberto also shares his personal journey from entrepreneurship and building businesses with his brother to launching Giano Capital and creating a new asset class focused on late-stage technology investments.5 OUTSTANDING QUOTES / LESSONS1. Alan Pace, Chairman of Burnley Football Club and RCD Espanyol, joined me this week for an exclusive interview where we discuss not only his fascinating life across finance and sports, but his deeply reflective approach to leadership and faith. Backed by a legitimate sporting pedigree that includes serving in the executive management of Real Salt Lake, Alan brings a rare blend of Wall Street business discipline and soft-spoken spiritual conviction to the often cutthroat world of elite professional sports. It was an absolute privilege to have him on the show.In this episode, we sit down at the historic Hyde Park Stake Center in London to explore his personal journey. We discuss everything from his family's deep missionary roots in the North West of England to what it really feels like to steer a massive community asset under the relentless lens of public scrutiny. Alan opens up about his belief that he doesn't "own" a club, but rather holds it in trust for the community, and explains how constant prayer acts as his anchor when making high-stakes executive decisions.Key insights from our conversation include:Rediscovering Family Footsteps: Alan reflects on his own history with the iconic Hyde Park chapel and shares the incredible moments of synchronicity that occurred when he realized he was working in the exact same English towns where his father had served as a young missionary decades prior. The Boy Scout Philosophy of Stewardship: A look at Alan's unique leadership model, which rejects the traditional concept of sports ownership in favor of "stewardship"—a mindset rooted in a simple childhood lesson to always leave a place better than you found it.Six Missed Trains with Vincent Kompany: The story behind bringing one of football's biggest icons to Turf Moor. Alan admits he didn't initially comprehend the scale of Kompany's legacy, but details the instant connection, an epic first meeting that blew past half a dozen train schedules, and how Kompany challenged him to see voices he normally couldn't hear.Leading with a Parental Heart: An honest look at the brief but impactful tenure of Scott Parker, whose "superpower" wasn't just on-pitch tactics, but an uncanny ability to lead a squad with the genuine care, empathy, and protective instinct of a father.Weathering the Dark Side of the Beautiful Game: Alan speaks candidly about navigating intense public criticism, modern social media vitriol, and extreme fan reactions. He shares how he relies on temple attendance, silent boundaries, and sincere prayer to find clarity and inspiration when the noise gets too loud.Flip the Question on Faith: A powerful closing thought for anyone striving to live their faith in hyper-competitive, high-pressure environments. Alan challenges us to stop focusing solely on the certainty of God's love for us, and instead ask ourselves a much more demanding question: How clearly does our day-to-day behavior demonstrate our love for Him?Follow Burnley FC at: https://burnleyfootballclub.comFollow For All The Saints on social media for updates and inspiring content:www.instagram.com/forallthesaintspodhttps://www.facebook.com/forallthesaintspod/For All The Saints episodes are released every Monday on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and more:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVDUQg_qZIU&list=UULFFf7vzrJ2LNWmp1Kl-c6K9Qhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3j64txm9qbGVVZOM48P4HS?si=bb31d048e05141f2https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/for-all-the-saints/id1703815271If you have feedback or any suggestions for topics or guests, connect with Ben & Sean via hello@forallthesaints.org or DM on InstagramConversations to Refresh Your Faith. For All The Saints podcast was established in 2023 by Ben Hancock to express his passion and desire for more dialogue around faith, religious belief, and believers' perspectives on the topics of our day. The deal to end the war with Iran is already looking shaky, with Vice President Vance delaying his trip to Switzerland to start negotiations and Israel still bombing Lebanon even though the deal says that has to stop. Vance is supposed to lead difficult negotiations with Iran, but he has limited diplomatic experience with a 60 days goal of going through a long list of tough issues still left to settle. And the Obama Presidential Center opens to the public in Chicago today, where Obama used the dedication to tell people not to miss the past, but to remember what is still possible.Want more analysis of the most important news of the day, plus a little fun? In this Friday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, Bryan covers the fallout from the Iran Peace Memo as the Strait of Hormuz officially comes under Iranian control, with global shipping now required to register with Tehran's new Persian Gulf Strait Authority. Iran's economy is roaring back with oil sales, frozen funds, and a soaring stock market, even as Senate Republicans like Roger Wicker and Ted Cruz blast the deal as a giveaway to a regime that cannot be trusted. Bryan lays out six concrete reasons why a renewed war with Iran this fall is unlikely no matter what the White House threatens, and breaks down growing tension between Washington and Israel as JD Vance pressures Jerusalem to fall in line with the new agreement. Plus, the LA City Council moves to let illegal immigrants vote in local elections, Trump ramps up denaturalization efforts, Luigi Mangione's defense team drops its insanity plea, GOP populists like Josh Hawley and Ron DeSantis push back on the party's embrace of Big Tech and AI, a major rare earth mining investment lands at home, and a warning that coffee prices may be headed up thanks to bad weather in Brazil. Today's Headlines: The Obama Presidential Center officially opened on the South Side of Chicago yesterday — a 19-acre campus with a museum, library, gardens, and a sledding hill — on Juneteenth, the same day Trump signed a worse version of Obama's Iran deal at Versailles, which is the kind of historic irony that writes itself. The Knicks held their ticker tape parade in downtown Manhattan to celebrate their first NBA championship in 53 years, Zohran Mamdani gave them the keys to the city, and Knicks owner James Dolan used his remarks to shade the mayor without naming him. JD Vance spent yesterday claiming Trump would rank at the top of an IQ test against all 45 previous presidents and telling Israel to "wake up and smell the reality" that Trump is their only ally left in the world, which is both a threat and an accurate description of what Trump's Iran deal accomplished. Ukraine hit a major Moscow oil refinery for the second time this week in one of its largest drone attacks of the war, with Zelensky saying the goal is to bring Putin back to the negotiating table and announcing G7 leaders — including the US — reached "unprecedented agreement" on additional air defense support for Ukraine. On the immigration beat, a Reuters analysis found that the death rate in ICE detention centers has more than doubled under Trump, from one death per 3,848 detainees historically to one per 1,630 since January, with 50 people dying from suicides, cardiovascular events, and untreated chronic conditions. The Trump administration quietly redirected $350 million from Secret Service training and recruitment funds to the White House ballroom-bunker, bringing its total projected cost to $600 million with taxpayers footing more than half — despite Trump's promise that he and donors would cover it entirely. And the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool, less than a week after its $14 million renovation, now has the worst algae levels in five years, and the hydrogen peroxide treatment meant to fix it caused the new paint to start peeling off in sheets. The grand opening of the Barack Obama Presidential Library and Eyesore went just about as you would expect. It's still overbudget and not paid for, on stage they apologized for building it on stolen land and Obama himself talked about slavery. Then it got worse. Springsteen and Bono, who look like they have Ozempic Aids, sang sad songs and the whole place was a bummer than tried to have fake fun. Who would have guessed? But here's a great story... the Marine Band at UFC 250 last Sunday night was so great they are all getting a bonus from POTUS and... one of his friends. Josh Hawley is so wrong about Major League Baseball and players writing on their hats he's an embarrassment to Republicans everywhere. I have the goods on him and it's pretty bad. It's a big weekend ahead with the US Open Golf Championship and Team USA in the World Cup. Danny Clinkscale has a couple thoughts. And our Final Final is a local baseball player and two famous musicians being sued over their steakhouse going under. Beware of the this story Patrick and Travis.

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed Darnell Nurse trade rumours, where he might end up, the incoming Mike Babcock press conference, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about Mike Babcock becoming the Oilers' next head coach, and whether there's anything he can do to win over the Oilers fans who are not at all happy about the decision. Given the Oilers are making this decision not caring about the fanbase's opinion, there's little doubt that the noise surrounding this decision will be incredibly loud. That led the boys to wonder what kinds of questions the media will be asking about the situation and what to expect going forward. Shifting gears, the guys continued on with another round of Darnell Nurse trade talk. The boys had David Pagnotta on Oilersnation Everyday on Friday afternoon, and he pitched a couple of ideas on what a Nurse deal might look like. The options seem to be that the Oilers either hold some salary for a better return, or accept a lesser trade to clear out every dollar. Is there a scenario where Edmonton can actually make a hockey trade? Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, Ask the Idiots questions, and Hot and Cold Performers to wrap up the week. The guys also discussed the Stanley Cup Final, the Hurricanes winning it all, and how the entire office is bought in on the World Cup. While the Nation HQ staff may not know what's going on very often, that hasn't stopped the squad from getting excited anyway.

The Barack Hussein Obama Presidential Library is now open to the public and it’s already being called the most hideous presidential edifice in American history. Some have likened the drab, gray, dystopian obelisk to a guard tower at a North Korean prison camp. Others have said ti bears a striking resemblance to a Death Star. It is also the most expensive presidential library in history. The original budget was $330 million but costs exploded to more than $850 million. And Fox News reports the final price tag could exceed $1 billion. But not everyone is all hope and change and yes we can. It turns out that a number of black contractors have not been paid. One plumbing company says they are owed nearly $4 million. The African American Contractors Association says they have never seen anything like this happen in the history of their organization. Are we really that surprised that Obama is not paying his bills? He stiffed black Americans during his 8 years in the White House – and he’s stiffing in them in the private sector too. By the way, if you plan on visiting Chicago, bring a valid form of identification. You’ll need that not to vote, but to gain access to the library. Ken and Lima break down an interview with Brendan Sorsby's agent Ron Slavin, who argues the gambling incidents happened when Sorsby was 18, never compromised the integrity of the game, and that the media wildly overreacted. Ken isn't buying the full narrative, pointing out the contradiction between Sorsby seeking gambling addiction treatment while his agent now downplays any ongoing problem. The guys debate whether the agent's explanation would move the needle for an NFL team considering a supplemental draft pick, with Ken admitting the interview actually makes him feel worse about Sorsby, not better. More damaging audio from the agent is teased for the next segment.

Paul and Barnabas traveled to hostile and pagan territory, and yet the good news of Jesus still took root. How? Looking at Acts 14, Pastor Ben Stuart breaks down six ways the door of faith gets opened to the Gentiles and what it actually looks like to share the Gospel in everyday life today. The Gospel is the most impactful movement in human history, not because of impressive people, but because ordinary people believed it was true and committed their lives to making it known.
