Esperanza and Irwin have a story to tell. As scandalous ancestors go, Col. Henry Huddleston Rogers II would have been enough for most families. But then he had a daughter. The colonel's namesake father, a partner in Standard Oil and noted “robber baron” of the Gilded Age, was one of the wealthiest men of his day. Amassing an estimated $100 million fortune, Rogers senior also acquired the nickname“Hell Hound” for his rapacious ways. It was meant as a compliment. Alas, young Harry was spoiled by his father's money. As he aged into adulthood, after receiving his inheritance in 1910, various sources describe him as ruthless, or a bully, or a ruthless bully.In 1914 he used some of the money to build Black Point, the family's summer estate inSouthampton, also known as the “Beach House,” adding a hunting lodge in nearby North Sea in the 1920s. The colonel commissioned John Russell Pope*, the architect responsible for the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., to design his shooting box overlooking Scallop Pond. The Sag Harbor Express reported that, at the time, it “encompassed 2,000 acres on both sides of the pond and was the largest privately-owned estate on Long Island.” By all accounts, the Port of Missing Men (as it was dubbed) offered the proverbial good time that was had by all. One rumor is that he had duck blinds installed on the water that were wired directly to Wall Street. The colonel's guests were able to remain unreachable to their wives but connected to the trading floor. Meanwhile, during Prohibition, there was a major liquor drop-off point conveniently close by, at the end of North Sea Road. Later, the drop-off point would become a notorious cathouse. The colonel and his wife, the former Mary Benjamin, had a daughter in 1902: Mary Millicent Abigail Rogers. The artistically inclined Millicent would go on to run through three husbands,plus Clark Gable. In 2011, her rich life became the subject of a biography, Searching for Beauty: The Life of Millicent Rogers, the American Heiress Who Taught the World About Style, by Cherie Burns. Formed as ‘Perta' in 2016 and reborn in 2022, The Scarlet Opera is led by lyricist and frontman Luka Bazulka, whose authentic narrative and vocal prowess are matched only by the musical talents of band members Colin Kenrick [keyboard], Daniel Zuker [bass], Justin Siegal [drums], and Chance Taylor [guitar]. Battlefields have been known over time for various paranormal activities because of the many lives lost and River Raisin lives up to its claim of being one of the most haunted places in the state of Michigan. Several people have claimed to see apparitions of American soldiers dressed in 1813 military attire. EVPs or electronic voice phenomena has been recorded at the park. Guests at the park have photographed figures in doorways, windows and on the field. Some have even heard and recorded cries of agony, as well as the sounds of war. River Raisin National Battlefield Park The Battlefield was added to the National Park Service in October 2010 and officially opened May 2011. The park offers walking and biking trails, as well as the River Raisin Heritage Trail, to interest the casual visitor or War of 1812 history buff. A good place to begin your visit is the park's new Visitor and Education Center. The Visitor Center is OPEN and offers a Diorama of the River Raisin settlement, orientation maps, ranger programs, basic park orientation, gift shop and theater. In the brand new state of the art theater you can view the park's new film "The Untold Legacy of the River Raisin." There is NO Charge to view the film! Please note that although you can get your passport book stamped, our unigrid (park) brochures are being updated and will be in production for some time. Thank you for your understanding. Education Center Interactive Exhibits Exhibits pertaining to the Old Northwest Territory, Great Lakes History, Native-Americans, French settlement, Battles of the River Raisin and much more, are currently under development in the new education center museum which will open in 2023.

Michael Stein is born prematurely with immunity issues and diagnosed with dyslexia and a stutter, he grew up in a broken home feeling socially awkward and impulsive. Despite these obstacles, he found inspiration in the movie Rocky and began exercising daily to improve his health. Stein became a physical fitness trainer at 16 and founded a social club in high school. He initially aimed to be an entrepreneur and actor but faced setbacks, including a failed tool company venture. Despite not attending college, he pursued interests in psychology, business, and acting. At 19, Stein ventured into stand-up comedy and later became a prominent nightclub promoter. He landed acting roles, including the lead in a short film later adapted into "Boogie Nights." He organized major promotional events, delved into personal growth studies, and produced documentaries on nightclub and rave culture. Transitioning to filmmaking, Stein wrote, directed, and produced acclaimed works like "Rituals and Resolutions," which garnered festival awards and HBO distribution. Facing financial struggles, he started a tarp-selling business, Abadak Inc., which became highly successful. In his mid-30s, Stein wrote, directed, and starred in "Love Hollywood Style," featuring renowned actors. Alongside his business success, he initiated "Tarp-Aid," donating tarps to the homeless. Welcome to The Nick Taylor Horror Show! Today, we have a dynamic duo, Director Anthony DiBlasi, and his wife, actress Natalie Victoria, joining us. After graduating from Emerson College and moving to Los Angeles, Anthony became a protégé of Clive Barker and worked alongside him on films like Midnight Meat Train and 2009's Book of Blood. Anthony made his directorial debut with the psychological thriller Dread, based on a Clive Barker short story. One of Anthony's most acclaimed films was Last Shift, released by Magnolia Pictures in 2015. His filmography also includes the psychological thriller Extremity from 2018. Now let's talk about Anthony's Wife, Natalie Victoria. Beginning her career in theater, Natalie has earned awards and recognition for her acting and writing. Natalie has acted in various features, short films, and stage plays, including the comedy "Deadheads," and the cult classic horror film Last Shift. Natalie stars in Anthony's latest release Malum, which is actually a remake of Last Shift. The film follows a rookie police officer as she uncovers the eerie connection between her father's death and a vicious cult during her shift at a decommissioned police station. As the lone officer on duty, she finds herself in the midst of terrifying paranormal events while learning the shocking truth about her family's history with the cult. In our conversation today, we discuss the importance of building trust with actors, crafting horror based on personal fears, and Anthony's 10 years working with Clive Barker. I've talked with people at length about how horror can be substantially more demanding on actors because it requires the most intense emotions. For this reason, horror directors need to take particularly great care of their actors. Anthony mentioned that it's essential for directors to shield their actors from on-set turmoil, especially time constraints. By ensuring your actors are cocooned from such pressures, even at the cost of other departments, you provide them with the environment necessary for a stellar performance. Forge an emotional connection to your actors. Anthony also stressed the significance of establishing genuine emotional connections with your actors. It's the director's job to uncover the emotional truth that resonates with the actor for each scene. Rather than rudely prying them for emotionally intimate details of their life, Anthony stated that he would often reveal intimate and vulnerable details about himself and how he related to a scene to enable them to open up. Art often requires vulnerability; if you want your actors to go to dark places, you have to be willing to go there first. Find out how your actors like to work. Further, Anthony and Natalie underlined the importance of understanding your actor's preferred way of working and direction style. Encourage them to share past directing experiences, both good and bad. Every actor is different, and tuning into their specific needs will mold you into a more versatile director. Create a repository When it came to the creation of Malum, Anthony revealed how various elements - dreams, sketches, vague concepts - had been incorporated into the film. Fortunately, his habit of consistently jotting down ideas, no matter how undeveloped, provided a wealth of material, or 'firewood' as David Lynch would say, all of which was at his disposal during the scriptwriting process. As a result, Anthony strongly encourages the use of note-taking apps (like Evernote and Notion), as they can be game changers. The song will be included on Max's debut forthcoming EP Junk Male, out June 23rd. The track was co-written and produced by Lil Aaron and Twenty One Pilots guitarist Dan Geraghty, and also features backing vocals from Lil Aaron. “2AM” is a love song from a guy who's addicted to endless arguments and melodrama. In the context of the full EP, it's the low point at which the narrator realizes what was once a casual relationship is beginning to bring out his worst traits.“He needs to exit - fast - but before he does, he's going to throw one last Hail Mary love song and try to salvage the doomed romance,” explains Max. “Except, this isn't the first time he's tried. He's been here before, and he's not going anywhere soon until he realizes the self-destructive loop he's caught in.”The song's corresponding music video is a tribute to found-footage horror films. Picking up where the “Superinlove” video ends, “2AM” reveals more about the Junk Male cinematic universe. Shot on VHS and played in reverse, we see the events of one fateful witching hour as protagonist Hollywood Thompson disposes of the evidence of his crimes from the short film's storyline.Max Bennett Kelly strikes a sweet spot between sticky hooks, unpredictable soundscapes, and cleverly candid storytelling with head-turning lyrics. Thematically, it's a hero's journey. I heed the call to adventure, find out it kind of sucks, and end up learning about myself. I don't have to be this Junk Male version of myself anymore.
