Well this episode of Unbothered by Thai Rivera is called Kimmels n Bits because it was recorded the very weekend all that BS went down with Jimmy Kimmel's sister. That weekend my friend and GREAT comic Cody Woods happened to be in town with his wife Nancy. So of course I knew Cody would make the perfect guest. Unfortunately you don't get to see Nancy until the end but eventually she will have her own episode. I really enjoyed the conversation we had but this was another adventure in editing and I need to do better. You have to be honest with yourself and there were too many points where I cut Cody off. I hope he will forgive me and I hope you guys enjoy the episode in spite of my annoying cut ins. Ugh...Like I said, I WILL do better but I must remain Unbothered. Let me know what you think. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Karla's Homemade Salsa https://www.etsy.com/shop/KarlasHomem... Howdy boys and girls! This episode was a blast, I got to hangout with the super Cody Woods! He has appeared on Hulu, Season 3 of Comedy Central's Hart of the City, The Comedy Shaq Network, as well as the Emmy nominated show, Mind Field. He has wanted to be a comedian since he was a kid. Coming from a bleak upbringing with a single mother in a trailer, he frequently switched schools while often finding himself being the ethnic minority in his classes and used his humor to win friends and prevent bullying. Over the years Cody has opened for Dave Attell, Paul Mooney, Tom Segura, Bruce Bruce, Charlie Murphy, Steve O, Todd Glass, and many more. In 2014 he toured for the USO entertaining the troops in Japan as well as the NACA college circuit. In 2015 he was a finalist in the Cabo San Lucas Comedy Festival. Cody continues to tour 36 weeks out of the year and is set for his Comedy Central debut in the winter of 2019. You can find him on instagram @codyjwoods, Cody Woods on facebook, or go to his website www.codyjwoods.com The guy is an absolute machine so be sure to check him out! And as always..... Comedian Cody Woods returns to Uncontained, back for the first time since Episode 006: Cody Woods - I'v Done Science on This. Cody has been climbing the ranks in the stand up world since we last talked on the show 2 years ago. The most recent accomplishment is winning a spot on season 3 of Kevin Hart's "Hart of the City" on Comedy Central, featuring comics from different cities from across the country. You will be able to find Cody on the Oakland, CA, episode due to release sometime in January. Cody shares his experience recording "Hart of the City" along with the advice Kevin Hart passed on to him. We both tell our stories of first meeting Kevin Hart before he was famous. This episode is packed with great advice and stories that you can only get from somebody who has lived the experiences that he has on the road, and is a must listen for all up-and-coming comics. It was great catching up with Cody after 2 years of grinding away at his craft. Now it's time to plug in your ear buds and join the conversation. I decided to give you guys a couple of days to process before I posted this episode of #Unbothered by Thai Rivera. My guest is Mr Cody Woods and we recorded the night of the inauguration. We ended up talking about a lot of stuff really and it's a pretty great convo. Cody is a white cis gendered male so in other words a part of one of societies most vilified demographic. I like that he didn't hold back and think you all wil enjoy the our conversation.
This week is a double-stuffed episode! We start off talking to Troy Conrad about JASH FESHT, then Troy leaves and we talk to Robbie Kirkhuff. THEN Todd, Robbie and Cody Woods do an after show! Strap in, its a long one. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Cody is one of the first interviews I did for Uncontained. I sat down to talk with him before a show he headlined at Tommy T's in Pleasanton, CA, but there was too much background noise on the recording and the interview was cut short when the show had to start. That night happened to be a tough crowd; something that every entertainer will face from time to time.We talked a few days after the show and recorded the interview you are about to hear. We discuss how he dealswith tough crowds and bombing, where he gets his material from, and tips he picked up from Jerry Seinfeld on engaging a large audiences. Check Cody out at www.codywoods.net and on his podcast, "The Filth Cake Show" with new episodes every Thursday on Stitcher and iTunes. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
