The Surprising Truth About Rock Star Fortunes: Prepare to have your assumptions about fame shattered. KiddChris reveals that despite their public image, many rock stars, like Mike from Staind, don't make a "ton" of money from record sales. In fact, record companies often take the bulk of the profits, leaving artists "exposed" and even owing money for "20-something years". This segment offers a crucial insight into why supporting bands by attending live shows and purchasing merchandise is vital for their survival."Balls Out Bowling": An Event Like No Other: Sara brings a detailed discussion about an annual bowling event in Pittsburgh where "no clothing is allowed except the bowling shoes". Hear the "nude group's" advice to "not forget a towel", and comparisons to a naked bike ride event in Portland, Oregon, that featured "thousands of people naked riding bikes". Learn about the event's rules, including the 18+ age limit and the strict "no cell phone" policy, ironically juxtaposed with the expectation of people wearing recording glasses. Unconventional Soundscapes: Discover a unique musical experiment where an online artist took samples of Heathrow Airport sounds and created ambient music designed to help people fall asleep. The surprising twist? The airport itself found it "pretty cool" and asked to "pipe it through our airport". Learn where you can find this "Heat Throw airport" music for free if you're looking for a new way to drift off.Take a walk down memory lane with "On This Day In History" segments, revisiting moments like Limp Bizkit's album "Significant Other" hitting number one, Metallica's Lars Ulrich testifying in the Napster copyright battle, and the enduring, perhaps overplayed, "Macarena". Enjoy a hilarious description of a karaoke performer's rendition of "This Is How We Do It" that might make you rethink the song's lyrics.

Equipment Manager Yael Wylie returned to the Bench to host this game. It was determined early that Limp Bizkit is the Nickelback of rap rock, Josh proclaimed "I'm dumb!" when he forgot there was a theme to Sporting Haikus (but are we 100% sure Mikko Rantanen isn't of Asian decent?), Ede is pretty sure that Takeo Spikes is French, Scott's favorite Eagle-Eye Cherry song is "Save Tinnitus," and much to the delight of Josh, everybody reminisces about great(?) 90s alt-rock. #311 #smashmouth #shipoftheseus #limpbizkit #nickleback #mikkorantanen #takeospikes #eagleeyecherry #90s https://dobosdelights.com/ Promo Code: CheckYourTaint https://www.patreon.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.facebook.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.twitter.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.instagram.com/benchwarmerstp/ https://www.teepublic.com/stores/benchwarmers-trivia-podcast
Action Comics #497 (1979)Since he's got a big movie coming out, let's keep it going with the Man of Steel here on WCE with a Bronze Age tale of Superman finding himself at the whims of three kids and an inter-dimensional imp convening in a modest shack in Kansas. You see, one of these kids needs life-changing surgery so the imp is letting these youngsters conjure up all sorts of perilous tasks like flaming meteors filled with Kryptonite and forced alien dissections. There has to be an easier way to do this but why bother when you can put countless living being in some sort of peril. We also got Scottish pirates, that one kid from STRANGER THINGS, tactless hotel doormen and a nearly tragic birthday surprise for Clark.Plus, Jen and Shawn discuss Metallica at Mile High Stadium and the shocking appearance of really good Mister Miracle cosplay in a random 80's horror flick.*** PROPER COMIC BOOK DISCUSSION STARTS AT 00:20:39 ***Promo: MOVING KRYPTONIAN IMAGES (https://podcasts.apple.com/ie/podcast/it-all-comes-back-to-superman-series-two/id1720158262)Continue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter / Instagram / Facebook / Threads / Bluesky or email the show at worstcollectionever@gmail.comAlso, get hip to all of our episodes on YouTube in its own playlist! https://bit.ly/WorstCollectionEverYTDownload the podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and wherever you get your favorite shows. This week it's Greg's turn to get quizzed! Alex prepared some topics for Greg and he must name 10 of each thing. She asks him a range of questions from brands of cars to Limp Bizkit songs (safe to say that was an easy one for him). Some topics had him stumped while others he knew surprisingly well! Give this one a listen and play along! (And let us know if you have any good topics for us to name 10 of!)
Milkie Way and Sam Matlock are Wargasm, a duo with a sound that comprises nu-metal, hardcore and electronic. Following their 2023 debut album release Venom, Wargasm have parted ways with record labels and have released Vigilantes. The duo discuss their latest single for the band's new independent era.

Un viaje en el tiempo en la historia del Rock. Semana entre el 16 y 22 de Junio.
In which The Curmudgeons take a big ol' dukey on that most prominent of rap-metal bands Limp Bizkit. The band is surely one of the worst hard-rock outfits to make it big since cranking up guitars real loud became a thing. Its plodding, uninspired riffage was eclipsed only by its misogynistic, corroded worldview and ultra-dumb lyrics. We dive into the rock's dregs here, analyzing the band's origins as well as its first four albums, all of which are awful. It all begs the question: How the heck did Limp Bizkit get so huge, anyway? We attempt to answer that question. Marvel in horror at the awful music of Limp Bizkit by accessing out Spotify plylist for the episode: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5s6kczKDwbpVDYt3DoTiaD?si=f88d0b956bcf4120 Here's a handy navigation companion to this episode. (00:52 - 06:15) - Arturo Andrade sets the parameters for our discussion of Limp Bizkit (15:04 - 29:52) - The Parallel Universe, featuring reviews of new albums by Ty Segall and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard (30:50 - 38:56) - We discuss the origin story behind Limp Bizkit's improbable rise from the underground of Jacksonville, Fla., to corporate rock's front burner (40:03 - 1:18:23) - We break down why this band's first four album are, in fact, truly terrible and even offensive. And we ponder why this kind of rap-metal may have been so appealing to so many people. In this episode of Parallax Views w/ J.G. Michael, I'm joined by journalist and author Ross Benes to discuss his new book 1999: The Year Low Culture Conquered America and Kickstarted Our Bizarre Times. We dive into how one seemingly ridiculous year, marked by Pokémon mania, pro wrestling mayhem, aggro-fueled nu metal, and shock TV overload, actually laid the groundwork for the chaotic media and cultural landscape we live in today.
Musicians recount the strange and unexpected story behind the making of your favorite albums. Limp Bizkit went out of their way to make the world dislike them - as a strategy! Then with a multiplatinum album already under their belts, they upped the ante with their next release. The guys get together to discuss a true classic of nu-metal and they touch on Fred's vocal stylings, Wes' outfits, and the rhythm section who are significantly better than expected. Bill, Mike, and Kelly are joined by Dylan and immediately begin waxing poetic and theorycrafting Pepsiman. We also: hear a story about ketchup, talk about dragon scales and the butts they hide according to the mind of Bill's 11 yr old nephew, Korn's Korn tattoos from Limp Bizkit, fake deep ass AI stuff (we actually get serious for a second and Mike is revealed to be 200IQ), sink pissing, men having relations in the woods, talk to Sean, being Luigi, voicemails, tongue in cheek politics, the pope, Skitchin on Sega Genesis
Send us a text"Life is a lesson, you learn it when you're through" said Limp Bizkit, but it really doesn't always have to be that way. We can all be a bit smart about it and learn from the experiences of people around us and the stories of those who came before. Life is a constantly evolving dynamic experience, colored by the emotions of our joy, laughter, triumphs, failures, misfortunes and losses. We are here to experience it all in this ever expanding universe. So, come join Hannah and Samir as they share some of their own hard learned life advice with a lot of humor and humility.

Last season, “Life On the Line” won the title of Worst Movie ™, and it's thanks to the star-studded collaboration between John Travolta and Devon Sawa working as linemen (LINEMEN!). This season, we bring Fred Durst into the mix (again, kinda) with The Fanatic; also starring John Travolta and Devon Sawa but they hardly do any line work at all! Let's fucking gooooo! Twenty-five years ago, director John Woo (Hard Boiled, Face/Off) joined this franchise to helm this long-awaited sequel to the first cinematic adaptation from '96. And whereas the first film was a paranoid espionage thriller, he and star/producer/mastermind Tom Cruise decided to shift THIS entry in the direction of ramped up operatic action mixed with forbidden romance. Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is back for his next mission where he must prevent a now disavowwed former IMF-rival Sean Ambrose (Dougray Scott) from doing something nefarious with a mysterious bio-weapon/virus nicknamed "Chimera." And to get closer to this new villain's burgeoning operation, Ethan must enlist a beautiful jewel thief named Nyah (Thandiwe Newton) who has a past with Ambrose but....the ONE thing he didn't count on was falling in love. :o And what results is a rip-roaring, mostly-set-in-Australia action EPIC filled with rock climbing, fast cars, roundhouse kicks, and.....DOVES. This was a major smash upon release and remains one of the more successful films in this long-running franchise....however a backlash has developed since then with many now calling it the WORST of the Mission: Impossible saga. Our mission - should we choose to accept it - is to determine as to whether it lives up OR down to the hype!See below for a link where you can hear the rare instrumental version of this movie's theme song, cited within this review:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfBiktIrDnQHost & Editor: Geoff GershonProducer: Marlene GershonSend us a texthttps://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/

On this episode of Vinyl Verdict, Bell, Jamie and Adam listen to Bell's next pick, Limp Bizkit's "Significant Other". Released in 1999, it was their second studio album. Following the success of their previous album "Three Dollar Bill, Y'all", the band was invited to perform at Woodstock '99. The band's performance has been widely criticized as having further instigated violence at the festival, particularly during their performance of the song Break Stuff. Controversy surrounding this appearance propelled the sales of this album, and led to further mainstream success of the band. But will the boys be able to cut through the controversy and ask the album to "Show Me What You Got"? Come along and find out!
In episode 208, Deacon celebrates FIVE years of the Deacon and Co Show by being your host and talking about the "Struggles Within". Plus, a list of some Limp Bizkit songs!
The Wolf & Action Jackson are so happy to be able to share the story of Night 2 of Metallica in Nashville on Saturday, May 3. While the first night of the No Repeat Weekend was great, including the opening acts Suicidal Tendencies and Pantera, Saturday, May 3, 2025 was a special night in the boys lives as friends, fans and concert goers. Though their seats were solid on Thursday Night, the setlist wasn't white hot and the surroundings went downhill as the night progressed. However, through working some connections the boys were upgraded to a suite on Saturday night. And not just any suite, the Owners Suite - a double box on the 50 yard line, fully catered with an open bar, and easy chair seats that sat just back from the open windows. That experience alone would make it a special night. But the fact that there was a lightning strike within 8 miles of the stadium which necessitated clearing everyone out of their seats and off the field while delaying Metallica's set by more than 30 minutes, it made for a stress free night with great people. We shared stories with folks we'd just met, learned about the new rooftop stadium being built next door, got an early gander at the setlist and enjoyed Metallica themed cocktails until the boys came on around 9:30. Hear all about the odd and bloody openers Ice Nine Kills and how amped Fred Durst got the crowd during Limp Bizkit's set. The boys compare the setlists and favor Saturday's over Thursday's easily and, as a courtesy to Metallica, discuss how they would improve the setlist. Listen up for on stage banter from James Hetfield on a truly special night for 2 old metalheads. In 1999: The Year Low Culture Conquered America and Kickstarted our Bizarre Times (2025, University of Kansas Press) journalist Ross Benes examines low culture in the late 1990s. From pro wrestling and Pokémon to Vince McMahon and Jerry Springer, Benes reveals its profound impact and how it continues to affect our culture and society today. The year 1999 was a high-water mark for popular culture. According to one measure, it was the "best movie year ever." But as Benes shows, the end of the '90s was also a banner year for low culture. This was the heyday of Jerry Springer, Jenna Jameson, and Vince McMahon, among many others. Low culture had come into its own and was poised for world domination. The reverberations of this takeover continue to shape American society. During its New Year's Eve countdown, MTV entered 1999 with Limp Bizkit covering Prince's famous anthem to the new year. The highlights of the lowlights continued when WCW and WWE drew 35 million American viewers each week with sex appeal and stories about insurrections. Insane Clown Posse emerged from the underground with a Woodstock set and platinum records about magic and murder. Later that year, Dance Dance Revolution debuted in North America and Grand Theft Auto emerged as a major video game franchise. Beanie Babies and Pokemon so thoroughly seized the wallets and imagination of collectors that they created speculative investment bubbles that anticipated the faddish obsession over nonfungible tokens (NFTs). The trashy talk show Jerry Springer became daytime TV's most-watched program and grew so mainstream that Austin Powers, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, The Wayans Bros., The Simpsons, and The X-Files incorporated Springer into their own plots during the late '90s. Donald Trump even explored a potential presidential nomination with the Reform Party in 1999 and wanted his running mate to be Oprah Winfrey, whose own talk show would make Dr. Oz a household name. Among Springer's many guests were porn stars who, at the end of the millennium, were pursuing sex records in a bid for stardom as the pornography industry exploded, aided by sex scandals, new technology, and the drug Viagra, which marked its first full year on the US market in 1999. According to Benes, there are many lessons to learn from the year that low culture conquered the world. Talk shows and reality TV foreshadowed the way political movements grab power by capturing our attention. Pro wrestling mastered the art of "kayfabe"--the agreement to treat something as real and genuine when it is not--before it spread throughout American society, as political contests, corporate public relations campaigns, and nonprofit fundraising schemes have become their own wrestling matches that require a suspension of disbelief. Beanie Babies and Pokémon demonstrate capitalism's resiliency as well as its vulnerabilities. Legal and technological victories obtained by early internet pornographers show how the things people are ashamed of have the ability to influence the world. Insane Clown Posse's creation of loyal Juggalos illustrates the way religious and political leaders are able to generate faithful followers by selling themselves as persecuted outsiders. And the controversy over video game violence reveals how every generation finds new scapegoats. 1999 is not just a nostalgic look at the past. It is also a window into our contentious present. Harvey Danger vocalist Sean Nelson makes a good case for his group being, in his words, "the last band through the door" of the alternative revolution: Though the quartet went gold thanks to the frenetic, inescapable "Flagpole Sitta" as the nineties closed, the landscape for them (and cohorts such as Cake, Semisonic or Fastball) would look much different a year later. By 2000, a sudden contingent of beefy backwards cappers, led by the likes of Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach, had commandeered arenas and the airwaves as an antithesis to pop radio. Paired with a massive label shake-up, this left Harvey Danger's expansive second album King James Version DOA. But like a lot of unsung masterworks, many have praised King James Version over the last quarter century for its dialed-in cacophony and sarcastic swagger -- enough to drum up major excitement for a first-ever vinyl pressing, which hit shelves as a Record Store Day exclusive recently from both Barsuk and Latent Print Records. Today, Nelson gives us the full arc of how King James Version was born, died and rose again, taking its throne on 12-inch format to mark the album's 25th anniversary. Follow @officialharveydangerarchive and @actualseannelson on Instagram for updates. You can also hear The Wonder of It All, Sean's engaging podcast on the blessings and curses of fame, via this link or wherever you listen.
