Today’s episode is with Erin Sullivan, known as “Erin Outdoors”. Erin Sullivan’s photography is an exploration in wonder, creativity, and awe. Throughout her career, Erin has traveled to over 40 countries photographing landscapes and crafting stories from around the world built on curiosity and a desire to create connection. When she's not photographing the great outdoors, she's creating Our Great Indoors, a wondrous miniature series that blurs the line between real and imagined. Using everything from vegetables to jello, large outdoor spaces are re-invented into miniature scenes and viewers are invited to re-think the way they see the world, and their place in it. Erin and her work have been featured on CBS Sunday Morning, The Drew Barrymore Show, and the TED stage. She believes that life provides each of us with an interdisciplinary education and encourages us all to use it intentionally. What do you get when you take several stacks of pancakes, add some miniature figurines and a stream of syrup? If you’re photographer Erin Sullivan you’ll get a scene of a canyon with hikers walking by a waterfall. Erin Sullivan is an accomplished photographer and traveler blogger. She showcases her work on her blog Erin Outdoors. During this pandemic Erin created a challenge called #TheGreatIndoors. This challenge called for other creative and travelers who were under stay-at-home orders to create outdoor using common household items. Erin told us that these miniature outdoor sets is helping to satisfy her wanderlust and keep her creative juices flowing. Erin shows us that a photograph isn’t always what it appears to be but that it still has the power to transport you to a place that’s as vast as the imagination. Erin Sullivan is a travel photographer, writer and speaker who focuses on stories of culture, wildlife, and conservation. You may know her as @erinoutdoors from her social media channels. She is the host of the new REI mini-series In Our Nature and a member of the Sony alpha Imaging Collective.
