I was introduced to Eric Raddatz by mutual friends a couple months ago and we have been getting to know each other. Eric is a very interesting guy and involved in tons of cool projects here in SWFL. I know this North Cape boy can always use some culture so I was happy to have Eric on to discuss the Arts in SWFL. We discussed the Florida Rep Theatre, Barbara B Mann, Alliance of Arts and his Fort Myers Film Festival. We also find out that Eric is the perfect guy to end your Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game because he was an extra on the film “Stir of Echoes” That basically means Eric is a celebrity in my book! Hope you enjoy this talk as much as I did.

A native of Detroit, Al started his musical career in classical music with his principal instrument being the Violincello. Al’s played in many orchestras including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, The Highland Park Chamber Orchestra, and The Windsor Symphony. Then, he decided to try something different, so chose the keyboards as his new major instrument, which led him to join the show band, “Attraction” in 1970. He also spent many years touring with the Platters as an acclaimed vocalist and keyboard player.----more---- These days he lives in southwest Florida. I’ve gotten to watch Al interact with the world from up in the booth during the Fort Myers Film Festival’s TGIM Monday events for the past 7 years, during which he regularly shows of his powers of perception, compassion, and humor.

My guest today is Eric Raddatz. He's a man of many…things, known by many people around southwest Florida. He's probably most publicly known as the man behind the Fort Myers Film Festival, which he founded in 2010. He also founded the Naples International Film Festival the year before. But, when it comes to his work, Eric Raddatz is definitely best known, whether people know it or not, for his work as Presentation Editor at Florida Weekly. ----more----He's one of the main forces behind the papers' visual aesthetic. He's also a regular contributor on NBC2 News in Fort Myers, the Creative Director at Florida Southwestern State College, and the Presentation Editor at the Babcock Ranch Telegraph. And last but not least, Eric has won the ‘most likely to wear a sport coat with sneakers' award at least five years running, I've lost count…that last part isn't true..
