Earlier this year, Love Jones returned with the album, The Greatest Show on Earth, their first album since 2010, and Ben Daughtrey, Barry Thomas, and Jonathan Palmer discuss their journey to releasing the new album with Nicole Barlow and Ryan Pak on Soundtrack Your Life. They also talk about their start as a band in 1990 and how they ended up in LA, where they would meeting the likes of director John Favreau and actor Vince Vaughn. Favreau and Vaughn who were making an indie-film called Swingers. The band contributed their song "Paid for Lovin'" to the soundtrack but the band was involved with more than just that song. Bassist Barry Thomas was a music consultant on the film, helping pick out songs for the soundtrack, and the band almost ended up in the film itself, since Favreau and Vaughn were such big fans of the band. Ben, Barry, and John share behind the scenes stories about Swingers, they also chat about jamming with producer/composer Jon Brion in the early 90s, and appearing in films like Since You've Been Gone and The Sweetest Thing. Along the way, we chat about the widespread negativity in online fandoms and look at why that might be. Is it simply because people don't like movies which fail to live up to their expectations, or are there more sinister reasons at play? If you've got an opinion on this then let us know what you think - do you agree with our thoughts or is it down to something else entirely? Jeremy Allen White's ROTTA THE HUTT's inclusion in THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU was a surprise to many a Star Wars fan. Not since Dave Filoni's 2008 animated-film The Clone Wars had we seen Rotta, then affectionately known as "Stinky". In that film, our heroes are tasked by Jabba The Hutt to bring his son back safely. Fast-forward to 2026, and in Favreau's/Filoni's film, the Hutt-twins task our heroes to bring their nephew back safely. Something about poetry comes to mind...Today we take a look at the surprising inclusion of this character and how compelling he is within the story, while also furthering Jon Favreau's recurring filmic-theme: fathers and sons. From Iron Man to Chef, Favreau explores these relationships and with The Mandalorian And Grogu, Rotta serves to further continue to explore this theme. A question lingers though... do Hutts engage in polycules? We also have a bit of fun with a Q&A from listeners! Might need to make this a permanent segment.• • •TRIAD Of The FORCE is a STAR WARS+ podcast hosted by Gus, Nani, Nad, & Chase—Puerto Rican and queer creators sharing deep dives, and heartfelt conversations from a galaxy far, far away. It's a packed line-up of directors this week on The Interviews, folks. Directorpalooza? First up, we bring you an extended excerpt from our spoiler special interview with The Mandalorian And Grogu, Jon Favreau, who tells Chris Hewitt about his intentions behind the first big-screen Star Wars film in seven years. Then Chris leaps onto Zoom to have a lovely natter with the great Joe Dante about his beloved (eventually) 1987 sci-fi comedy, InnerSpace, which is out now on 4K UHD, and English director Mike Figgis about his hard-hitting, Oscar-winning drama, Leaving Las Vegas, which has also received the 4K UHD treatment. The Figgis chat is an extended excerpt from an hour-long deep dive into the movie which, like the Favreau interview and Team Empire diving deep into The Mandalorian And Grogu, can be found over on our spoiler special feed. empirespoilerspecials.com, if you haven't already taken the plunge. Purtroppo.
A Star Wars movie is back in theaters for the first time since 2019! In this episode of Hyperspace Theories, Tricia Barr and B.J. Priester kick off our analysis of The Mandalorian and Grogu with a discussion of the major storytelling decisions underlying the film, which is directed by Jon Favreau and co-written by Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Noah Kloor (The Book of Boba Fett). As the sixth movie of the Disney era and the first Star Wars film built upon source material from outside the preceding movies – specifically the three seasons of the Disney+ streaming series The Mandalorian as well as adjacent series The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka – the creation of The Mandalorian and Grogu faced a number of challenges not previously faced by theatrical Star Wars, including an imperative to produce the movie on a considerably smaller budget than the Sequel Trilogy releases while reviving fan and customer enthusiasm for Star Wars on the big screen and the ancillary merchandise revenue that has long accompanied Star Wars films. This context in the state of the franchise explains a number of key decisions about the story built for The Mandalorian and Grogu, including the desire to acknowledge the full range of previous Star Wars stories and fans, from the Original Trilogy and Expanded Universe to the Prequels, The Clone Wars, and Disney-era films, animation, and publishing. We also examine the themes found at the heart of the story, and the non-Star Wars cinematic influences on Favreau's movie. We then revisit a frequent aspect of the Hyperspace Theories podcast: examining how Star Wars' longstanding association with the monomyth story structure shapes the tale being told in The Mandalorian and Grogu. Unsurprisingly, as a standalone film rather than a segment within a trilogy, The Mandalorian and Grogu readily aligns with the cinematic story structure expressed by Christopher Vogler, a distillation and updating of the classical monomyth found in the work of Joseph Campbell. This plot structure also guides the character arcs for The Mandalorian and Grogu, which features the two titular characters as well as significant character development for a third: Rotta the Hutt, who faces his own father-son thematic turmoil as well as pivotal choices about his path in life and the future he seeks for himself in the galaxy far far away. Yes! Chef! Nick and Angela are joined by Jon Favreau for an episode packed with appreciation for great food, and the creativity and passion that goes into making it. Jon arrives in the kitchen in the middle of a gigantic world press tour to promote his new movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, the latest adventure in the Star Wars universe. The film, of which Favreau is director, co-writer and producer, is out in cinemas this week and boasts an all-star cast including Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White. Jon is well versed with the culinary world, most notably with his 2014 film Chef, where he played a cook who starts up his own food truck. In order to prepare for the role, he schooled up on a range of cooking techniques with long-term collaborator, the Korean-American chef Roy Choi. Jon's passion for chef life also extended to him getting his own commercial kitchen fitted and working with Choi on The Chef Show, where he shared meals with celebrity guests including Gwyneth Paltrow and one of our faves, Tom Holland. Add those credentials to his back catalogue of film work, which includes Iron Man, The Jungle Book and Elf, and you have the ingredients for a top quality Dish guest. The episode's meal is a request from Jon: a simple but perfect Cacio e pepe gnocchi with broccoli & walnuts, a creation he admires from the best spot in the kitchen. The wine pairing is a bottle of Broglia Gavi DOCG. Enjoy this one, food lovers, as Jon shares his joy for food with us all. We get to level up the Fast Food Quiz, hear about DJing for Mark Ronson, find a rare Favreau knowledge gap, and ‘the clean plate club' is born. In Episode 150, hosts Alyce and Laura celebrate* the 7th Avernersary of Force Toast (and The Mandalorian) but mostly Force Toast. Reminiscing on 7 years of watching and reading Star Wars, doing trivs and learning mad skills, like how to do Star Wars Celebration, how to podcast and how to not drink too much when podcasting. Important life lessons! What do Sam Elliott, sh-tty beer and football have in common? Star Wars at the Super Bowl! Mystifying, or just a small (expensive) part of a grander marketing plan? (article referenced) Speaking of Mando - we call him Mandu now - a new MandUlorian & Grogu trailer is here! Let's discuss! The article that sparked a million click bait parasites did not actually say what you think it said. Calm down. We did the math. Jon Favreau isn't going anywhere. Take that, click bait. Remember Rogue Squadron? The question of whether it will ever come to fruition remains… a question. (via Parade) RIP Admiral Piett actor Kenneth Colley. Sorry DailyMail and the internet made it weird. Recap on Tap gets dreamy and maddening in Part 7 of Ahsoka: Dreams and Madness! Hera strikes back, Baylan is Batman now, Ahsoka is scary, Morgan does not Yes And any of this, and Every. Single. Reunion on this show is underwhelming. Thanks for being one of our 80k+ downloads! Jon Favreau responds to growing fan skepticism surrounding The Mandalorian & Grogu, the first Star Wars movie in nearly seven years. We break down Favreau's comments on the Super Bowl spot, IMAX visuals, theatrical scale, Grogu's evolution, and why Disney believes this movie belongs on the big screen. Is this a smart return to theaters or a risky gamble for Star Wars fans?

Join Here: https://ow.ly/msoH50WCu0KIgnite your inner bounty hunter as Analytic Dreamz unleashes a gripping reaction to the official trailer for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, unveiled September 22, 2025, and blasting into IMAX theaters May 22, 2026. Directed by Jon Favreau and co-written with Dave Filoni, this high-stakes sequel to the Disney+ saga thrusts Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu into the fray of a fractured galaxy: the Empire's remnants clash with the fragile New Republic, enlisting the armored warrior and his pint-sized Force-sensitive apprentice for a pulse-racing mission that promises epic dogfights, lightsaber skirmishes, and clan-of-two loyalty tested to the brink.Analytic Dreamz breaks down the trailer's visual feast—the resurrected Razor Crest slicing through hyperspace, Grogu's adorable yet potent Force feats like levitating foes and zapping monsters with green sludge, and heartwarming glimpses of Baby Yoda swimming or tinkering with Anzellan allies under Din's watchful beskar gaze. He spotlights triumphant returns: Garazeb "Zeb" Orrelios (voiced by Steven Blum) in full live-action glory, the irrepressible Babu Frik delivering "Good shot, baby!" quips, and a shadowy tease of Sigourney Weaver as enigmatic Colonel Ward, alongside Hutt cartel intrigue and rancor-like beast brawls that evoke classic practical-effects menace. Ludwig Göransson's score pulses with thematic thunder, bridging TV intimacy to cinematic spectacle.Does this trailer signal Star Wars' theatrical renaissance, weaving Rebels lore into a multiverse-ready epic, or does the post-Rise of Skywalker shadow demand bolder risks? Analytic Dreamz debates box-office potential, Grogu's evolving Jedi path, and how Favreau's vision elevates Mando's lone-wolf arc amid Imperial warlords' chaos—questioning if it outshines Ahsoka crossovers or sets up Rey's trilogy. For Mandalorian and Grogu trailer breakdowns, Star Wars movie reactions, Pedro Pascal updates, and Disney+ spinoff analyses, this segment is your beskar-clad essential. President Trump, speaking at the White House, declares — without scientific evidence — that acetaminophen use during pregnancy causes autism. The DOJ shuts down an FBI investigation into border czar Tom Homan, who was caught, on tape, accepting a $50,000 bribe in a Cava bag. Ted Cruz's departure from the MAGA-majority on free speech, and Trump's latest Watergate-level corruption scandal—the firing of a US Attorney who refused to charge Trump's enemies with crimes they did not commit. Then, Sen. Elizabeth Warren stops by the studio to talk to Lovett about the Democratic Party's impending government shutdown fight. Donald Trump splits with Benjamin Netanyahu and acknowledges that Gaza is experiencing "real starvation"—but will he pressure Israel to end the war and allow more aid in? Lovett, Favreau, and Tommy react to the latest developments in Gaza, Trump's shifting and typically incoherent comments on the situation, and why it's time for Democrats to change their approach to Israel. Then, they dive into Trump's new story about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and check in on that "free" plane he received from the Qatari government. Later, Tommy sits down with Israeli journalist Amir Tibon to discuss how the aid shortages in Gaza got so bad, and how Israel's far right influences Netanyahu. Desperate to distract from the Epstein scandal, Donald Trump posts an AI-generated video of the FBI arresting Barack Obama—as DNI Tulsi Gabbard unveils a new MAGA conspiracy theory about Obama and Russiagate. Favreau, Lovett, and Tommy unpack the insanity behind Gabbard's new allegations, get Lovett up to speed on the latest Epstein developments, and discuss CBS's cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Then, Lovett sits down with Lindsay Toczylowski, head of the Immigrant Defenders Law Center, to talk about Andry Hernandez Romero's release in Venezuela after 125 days in an El Salvadoran megaprison.
MAGA's Epstein revolt keeps growing — and despite Donald Trump's pleas, it doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon. Elected officials get their first look inside “Alligator Alcatraz” and report seeing “disturbing, vile conditions.” Trump reverses his stance on Ukraine, issuing Putin a 50-day ultimatum. Favreau and Tommy break down the Jeffrey Epstein drama that erupted at the Turning Point USA Summit over the weekend; Trump's new tariff threats against Russia, the European Union, and Brazil; and a new court ruling that could upend ICE operations in Los Angeles. They also discuss the timing of Biden's New York Times autopen interview and J.D. Vance's weekend trip to Disneyland, which featured an embarrassing video of the vice president attempting to run.

Why are young men — of all races — moving toward Trump? Are high prices to blame? Their media diets? The Democrats? John Della Volpe, the nation's leading youth pollster, joins Offline to discuss “Speaking to American Men,” a new $20 million effort to bring young men back into the Democratic coalition. John and his colleagues surveyed more than 1,000 men under 30 and conducted dozens of focus groups to understand what these men think about Donald Trump, the Democrats, and the direction of the country. He sits down with Favreau to share the effort's initial findings — some surprising, some not — and to explain why reversing their shift toward MAGA may actually be easier than progressives assume. For a closed-captioned version of this episode, click here.
