Jasmine Takanikos is an international branding specialist and principal of Brand Human. She believes that marketing should be less about words and amplifying a message, and more about providing exceptional service. Her career and life experience has led her to a deep appreciation for mindfulness and living with nature and that led her to regenerative real estate. Jasmine and host Neal Collins spoke about how her childhood on Whidbey Island shaped her into the person she is today, how the pandemic has forced us all to re-evaluate our priorities, and how she understands land stewardship and our responsibility to our environment and community. Jasmine is a client of ours at Latitude Regenerative Real Estate and we also spoke about Saratoga House—the magical property she is selling now on Whidbey Island. I was excited to speak with Jasmine and share our conversation because her expertise in branding and personal experience being drawn to regenerative real estate lends invaluable insight into one of the most common questions I get: "What is regenerative real estate?" What if...instead of a constant battle to figure out who we are, we instead took a moment to celebrate who we’re not? Jasmine Takanikos helps big brands hone in on their unique identity. She uses a methodology called, “Brand Human” to help people understand who they are at their core, and how that translates to the external world. She’s known for asking creative people the right questions, and says that when it comes to identity and figuring out who we are, it can be more powerful to celebrate who we’re not. That’s because we’re constantly evolving. As is the state of technology. It’s why the idea of living the question is so important. And it’s one of the best ways we can understand the implications of technology in our lives. As we enter a new year, we decided to do some reflection. We don’t want to continually explore all these ethical questions about tech and never come back to them. Understanding evolution is part of understanding identity, and it’s a wonderful way to look forward. So that’s what we’re going to do in this episode of First Contact. Happy New Year! Jasmine Takanikos is not your usual brand strategist. Realizing that branding is sometimes seen as negative and even UN-human, she set out on a mission to make it more personal and connected through BrandHuman, her workshop series at Soho House, and Candor Branding, her branding and design firm. I've personally worked with Jasmine to align my business goals with my brand strategy, and her intentional approach has had a big impact on my work. Our conversation is all about brand positioning through feeling, intention and purpose, and building a brand with your eyes open. In this episode, we discuss: How Jasmine Takanikos got into brand strategy What brand strategy is The importance of your connection with yourSELF to build a powerful brand and business Why authenticity isn’t enough How Jasmine’s brand strategy methodology and BrandHuman (that's now taught at Soho House globally) came to be The power of saying no to clients and choosing the ones you’re in full alignment with Why the entrepreneur leading a business is the energy source of the business, whether you’re leading a team of 100 or it's just you The importance of focusing on both revenue streams and building a community Setting healthy boundaries in your business How Jasmine assesses a brand as a professional brand strategist The one thing you can do to take your brand to the next level Resources: How Are You Branding Yourself? I first connected with Jasmine's BrandHuman work through previous guest, Holly Finigan. Taking her workshop helped me become more present in my life and impactful in my work. I wanted to chat with Jasmine about business, how we show up in our business and how we own our unique stories and skills to create powerful work. This episode is perfect for both the entrepreneur and the entrepreneurial spirited aka anyone who really cares about the work they're doing.   On this episode we talk about: What is brandhuman? Why being an entrepreneur is like constantly dying The process of evolving in your life and business Getting comfortable with constant change Why it's important to always add value and grow in your business The value of teaching to learn why copying people's work doesn't ever really work “no one else can be you if you're interesting” How to cultivate what makes you unique How trying new things is important to finding out who you are Importance of curiosity in finding what you're meant to do Why it's important to step back and do something fun or creative to unlock new ideas People can be multi-demensional The difference between kindness and boundaries How to evaluate your relationship with social media Balancing aesthetic responsibly with over currating How to be observant without judgement   This Episode is Perfect for Small business owners bloggers and freelancers anyone with a side hustle women who are career driven anyone who wants to evaluate the relationship they have with themselves and their work   Books I mentioned Sapiens http://amzn.to/2sIxd6r & Homo Deus http://amzn.to/2u60N99   Connect with Jasmine BrandHuman http://brandhuman.com CandorStudios http://www.candorstudio.com/   For Full Show Notes go to: init4thelongrun.com connect with me on instagram at @init4thelongrunblog

Two funny chicks? CHECK. Dope sound and graphics? CHECK. Cryptic, nonsensical title? CHECK. This Selfish-Help Podcast has got it all, they just need to spread the gospel to their fellow Jammerz, but how will the trio get their semi-coherent conversations to stand out amongst a bazillion other podcasts?!? They have no f*cking idea, so Stephen reluctantly brought in one of his fancy friends, JASMINE TAKANIKOS (@JasJTakanikos). She’s a badass, professional branding and marketing expert AND the CEO of her own consulting firm, Brand Human. Jasmine gives tips on social media strategies, finding your authentic voice and identifying your core ‘audience’. But can the trio pull it together in time OR will they be distracted by Stephen’s NPR voice and Wendi’s rare medical condition?? Will Megan muscle her way into the position of the Jammerz Instagram Curator?? WTF even is a ‘curator’ and why are you still reading this?? Listen to Jasmine, take notes and in a few years, we’ll all take our private jets and meet for brunch in Greece. But like, the expensive part of Greece. If you are in need of a professional brand strategist: www.jasmineconsultinggroup.com Or you can roll the dice JAMMERZ: www.jammerzpod.com jammerzpod@gmail.com @jammerzpod The song at the end is "Content" by @Joywave.
