Thinking Thursday’s are about critically thinking, breaking out of boxes, and discussing new ways we could live this life together. Former show guest John Criscitello posted an image about relationship mental health to kick off this June’s LGBT Pride Month. Originally posted by Jen Moff, we take a look at it and ask if it’s what we think healthy relationships are. This week the Mort Gang is joined by legendary artist, punk angel, queer agitator, trash guru, and babe John Criscitello to discuss artistic practice in the digital age, the role of commerce in art, how goofy the concept of "selling out" is, the operatic, American tragedy of Anna Nicole Smith, why we'll never stop building more bullshit for rich kids, getting over in a post-gentrification landscape, and a bunch of other stuff. This is easily one of my favorite episodes we've done, even though there's a point where Matt's fuckin breathing really makes me want to set myself on fire. John's show In Code opens at 4 Culture gallery September 7th 2017 from 6-8pm, and will be up until the 28th. GO SEE IT! This week's breaks are "Tramma Nella Metropoli" by I Marc 4, and "Sortilegio Titoli" by Silvanio D'Auria. I had the distinct pleasure of having John Criscitello stop by the Office Hours studios, located in a secreted room within the Tether headquarters. I love John's spirit and his playful use of words and images to bring attention to issues like gentrification and hate crimes. He is a good example of the Seattle entrepreneurial artistic spirit. We were also fortunate to have him speak to our fellow Tetherites as part of our Tether Talk series.

John is one of the few people I have ever met that has no religious background at all. He would refer to it as a more naturalist upbringing. However, his experience with televised American Christianity is hilarious. John is an amazing artist. A man that speaks his mind and doesn't seem to have a lot of walls or filters that are holding him back from creating art and using words. His transparency in the subject matter of his work such as rampant materialism, capitalist culture, gay culture, and homoeroticism has grown him a large, appreciative following and made him a beloved part of our neighborhood. John and I chat through religions, the cosmos, myth, legends, culture, pop-art and even drugs and addiction, until we find commonality in allowing creativity to come through you unhindered and the freedom that comes from releasing that art medium without trying to control its outcome.   Become a Co-Conspirator Producer of this Show: https://www.patreon.com/losingourreligion Join the CounterCulture Society: http://eepurl.com/bwqMWT Tell Us Your Story: (206) 395-5608
