Music Featured in Chapter 3: It Damned Sure Aint' From Cheating At Craps'Twas summer, and softly the breezes were blowing,And sweetly the nightingale sang from the tree.At the foot of a hill, where the river was flowing,I took in the sights that all lay before meFlow on, waters blue, flow on thou sweet river,Thy banks, purest stream, shall be dear to me ever,For there I first gain'd the affection and favorOf the man that had stolen my hearts only key,But love cannot flourish in times of upheaval the hearts of the innocent are casualtiesThe soul of a land is beyond our retrieval if that country was founded on stark miseries. And now a grim blight on it has descended,Its grand, lofty aims have now all but ended,The only hope now is for wounds to be mended,And save all the souls that are lost in debris. But bonded are we in both symbol and shackleWithout any hope or a dream to be freeStill there is a chance that one day we will tackleThose forces that keep my true love from me.And while the red embers of war keep on glowingThe strain and the stain of the darkness is showing But there in the night a new day is growingA bright sun is dawning a new destiny.Music and Original Arrangements by Jackie Presti with vocals by Robin Campbell and lyrics by Ryan Knowles.Support the showCAST & CREWAloysius, Jupiter Nameless - Eric AustinAllela, Fiona Pratt, Gertrude Redd - Kate PiattiLillian Method, Carmela Kaine, Veronica Delmonaco - Hannah SchoonerThomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Arch Porter - Ryan KnowlesOther roles played by the cast.Original Music Arrangements - Jackie PrestiLyrics and Lead Vocals - Ryan KnowlesGuitar and Mandolin - Bob RoseChorus Singers - Robin Campbell, Jackie Presti, Lindsay RoseAudio Production and Sound Design - Alex SterlingAssistant Audio Engineer - Colin BrysonExecutive Producer - Nadine WelchWriter - Kevin LikelyProducer and Director - Justin HeymanSpecial thanks to Prof. Elizabeth Ellis-MarinoWrite us:contact@palecolumbia.com

(This full conversation is from the episode 'Greenpeace at 50: The Climate Crisis is a Fight Not an Argument' released April 18th, 2022) In this special feature for Earth Day, we focus on just one group: Greenpeace, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The environmental group has been in the headlines again, confronting Russian oil tankers in many ports. They've attracted lots of attention and scored many victories in the years they've been in existence. But it's not enough. The climate crisis is more urgent than ever, the world's not on track to get off fossil fuels in the time we need, and the most vulnerable are paying the heaviest price. In this special, we spend the program with the leadership of Greenpeace, including co-executive Directors, Annie Leonard and Ebony Twilley Martin, the first African American woman to head a "Big Green" group. The changes the group has made to embed racial justice and equity across their organization are going to take time, they admit, but without them, they'll never shift the power structure that's proven so intransigent up to this point. What's it going to take to shift power internally, avoid false solutions, and make the sort of transformation we need, as a nation, and as a group? They say there is no choice. The changes they're making now are essential. Please help us welcome Alan Pfeifer to the podcast! We dive deep into Alan's past and journey to Nashville, how the drums have played such an integral role in his life both musically and spiritually, and the three of us have fun geeking out over our favorite drummers and bands. Hope you enjoy! His drumming journey began at age 11 with lessons and playing at church and in school band, before attempting a Music Therapy degree at Slippery Rock University, which he bombed spectacularly at even getting in the door, learning a valuable lesson in failure and perseverance. After much thought and lots of advice from smart people, he struck out for school at Belmont University to pursue a commercial music degree sight unseen in 2008 graduated three years later, first playing with local progressive rock group Montezuma Fire Machine and recording one album with the group, before the groups dissolution in 2015. He toured and played locally with other acts such as Kate McCray, Radar Vs. Wolf, Rye Davis before meeting up again with another local progressive rock group, Flummox, in 2016; they'd all shared the stage early on in each others' careers, and after a jam session of two, a strong musical bond was sparked and he's been helming the drum chair since, recording two EP's and two albums, most recently 2022's Rephlummoxed, and is prepping for a busy summer season of shows before retreating to the band cave to start work on the next record, which won't be too far around the corner! Having lived and worked in town since 2008, Alan has had a long time learning the do's and don'ts about operating in a band as a drummer; from balancing ego, work and musician obligations, and the healing and helping hand that drums and music can be. ------Interview by: Dan Ainspan, Nathan SletnerRecorded May 2022 in Nashville, TN

ShakeDown Radio with Chris Caggs Episode 381 - House Music On this episode our featured artist is Jolyon Petch with his new track "Holding On". Following off the back of a string of ARIA Club Chart #1's, N.Z native, now Melb based Jolyon Petch delivers his finest offering to date with this light, summery anthem. 'Holding On' brings together hooky female vocals, big piano chords coupled with a warm bassline giving this the perfect international sound. To go alongside Jolyon's awesome original, Sydney's original house legends Random Soul deliver a sophisticated sun-kissed remix for the househeads.
