“Lighthouses don't go running all over an island looking for boats to save; they just stand there shining.” Anne Lamott It was these words that produced a seismic shift in this week's Fearless Singer Podcast guest – Karen Gunton. This podcast has staying power - mainly because I've fallen in love with this medium. I strongly suggest you make one yourself - it's so much fun! In this episode, you will learn: ❤️

Karen Gunton is in her element right now, helping women to “build their lighthouses, and to shine their unique light brightly into the world”. Originally a teacher by trade, Karen has evolved over the years, changing not only professions, but countries, moving from Canada to Adelaide in South Australia. “When as I look backwards at the road so far and it gives me ideas about where I need to go next, but I often say that I accidentally started a business!. We can’t see everything that coming next, so we do need to accept it’s an evolution, a spiral, rather than a straight line”. Karen and I talk about working on purpose, the inner work we all need to do, how to keep yourself buoyant and the absolute importance of having a mission rather than “just selling a thing”. Don’t just build a business, build a Lighthouse instead. If you have a desire to contribute, to give back and make a difference on a large or small scale wit your unique skills and experience, you will love this conversation. In part one of Reputation Revolution's 100th episode, host Trevor Young delves into the vaults to bring us four previous guests who inspired us with their thoughts, ideas and stories around authenticity in personal branding and the importance of thought leaders being aligned to their purpose. This episode features comments from past guests Richard Sauerman, Karen Gunton, Lucy Whittington and Lisa Petrilli.
Karen Gunton is an 'unstucktor' - she helps people get unstuck, to find the magic in their work, to help them both uncover their soul purpose and fulfil that purpose via their business. In this episode of Reputation Revolution, Karen chats to Trevor Young about how she uses the 'lighthouse' as a metaphor for her philosophy and principles, and how she manages to weave it throughout her narrative. Don't just build a business, build a lighthouse, she says; be you, stand tall, shine bright. Karen talks about rediscovering your purpose, about getting 'unstuck' when hit with underlying fear and doubt, and about honouring who you are. "Let yourself be weird," Karen says. "If you're not polarising, then you're probably being quite boring and bland and then the right people won't connect (with you) at all."
When you’re trying to build a business and attract both an audience and clients, it’s easy to get caught up in a ‘chase’ mentality and feel like you’re running around everywhere vying for people’s attention. In this episode Karen Gunton explains her lighthouse revolution – how to share a message and beam a light, to attract the right people to you instead of chasing them.
