In the aftermath of any tragedy, we face this reality: Evil is real and rampant. There is no place on this planet that is evilfree. As one author wrote, “I will never understand those who can read the headlines every day and then assert that people are basically good ... Evil is woven into the fabric of humanity.” Throughout our study of Elijah, we've seen him facing or fleeing evil, but always returning to fight it, because that's what it means to live the God life. And it's not to be confused with the good life. While the good life might avoid evil, ignore it, or let others deal with it, those living the God life don't have that option.

"From the outside, we may look calm, confident, and completely put together, but on the inside, we're paddling as fast as we can just to stay afloat."In this episode of Business Is Human, Rebecca Fleetwood Hession zooms into the hidden tension between outer confidence and inner vigilance. She explores how many high-capacity leaders appear steady and composed on the surface while internally living in a constant state of alertness. Over time, that quiet vigilance becomes a pattern. It's one that feels normal but comes at a cellular cost.Rebecca explains how our bodies respond to the paddling beneath the surface, not the calm we project outward. She breaks down the physical toll of always being “on,” from exhaustion and poor recovery to immune challenges and deep fatigue that rest alone cannot fix. She also addresses the important intersection of faith and nervous system regulation, reminding listeners that trusting God does not eliminate the need to care for our bodies and regulate our stress responses. Both can coexist, and when our inner and outer lives align, we unlock greater clarity, creativity, and leadership strength without sacrificing our peace. In this episode, you'll learn:How inner vigilance can quietly replace grounded confidence, and why your body feels the differenceThe physical and emotional cost of staying in constant “on” modePractical strategies for regulating your nervous system and aligning your inner and outer lifeThings to listen for:(00:00) Introduction(01:35) The misalignment between outer image and inner experience(02:26) Understanding the pattern of inner vigilance(05:06) The physical toll of living in constant alertness(09:34) Faith alongside nervous system awareness(12:00) Practical ways to cultivate inner regulation(18:19) Reflection and an invitation to look inwardConnect with Rebecca:https://www.rebeccafleetwoodhession.com/Get tickets for Stand Tall in Your Story (March 12): https://www.rebeccafleetwoodhession.com/

When the storm comes, giraffes don't run. They don't hide. They stand tall and face away from it. Maybe that's exactly what we need to do. Show Notes In this episode of Shark Theory, Baylor shares one of his favorite late-night research discoveries and the powerful life lesson hidden in how giraffes handle storms. At three in the morning, a random question led to a fascinating insight: where do giraffes hide when it rains? The answer is simple and powerful. They don't. Instead of trying to curl up or seek shelter they can't find, giraffes stand tall and face away from the storm. Researchers suggest that lying down in mud would require more energy to get back up once the storm passes. So they take it head-on, minimizing impact and conserving strength. Baylor connects this to how humans handle adversity. When storms hit in relationships, careers, or personal growth, most people run, hide, blame, or avoid. Very few choose to stand tall and deal with it proactively. Using boxing as another analogy, Baylor explains the concept of rolling with the punches. You're going to get hit. Storms are inevitable. But how you position yourself determines how much damage you take. Avoidance often makes problems worse. Letting issues simmer in silence, refusing hard conversations, or running from mistakes only increases the energy required to fix them later. The longer you wait, the heavier the mud becomes. The message is simple: storms are part of life. Quitting only makes it harder to restart. Stand tall. Be proactive. And remember that every storm eventually ends. What You'll Learn in This Episode Why storms are unavoidable in life What giraffes teach us about resilience How avoidance increases long-term damage The power of being proactive during adversity Why quitting costs more energy than enduring How to minimize impact by "rolling with the punches" Featured Quote "Storms are coming either way. The question is whether you're going to run from them or stand tall through them."

Big Idea: It takes a strong center to stand tall under pressure from every side.Esther 1:10-22I. The Queen takes a stand for purityEsther 1:10-12On the seventh day, when the king was feeling good from the wine, Ahasuerus commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar, and Carkas—the seven eunuchs who personally served him—to bring Queen Vashti before him with her royal crown. He wanted to show off her beauty to the people and the officials, because she was very beautiful. But Queen Vashti refused to come at the king's command that was delivered by his eunuchs. The king became furious and his anger burned within him.II. The King's feelings get hurt   Esther 1:13-15The king consulted the wise men who understood the times, for it was his normal procedure to confer with experts in law and justice. The most trusted ones were Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan. They were the seven officials of Persia and Media who had personal access to the king and occupied the highest positions in the kingdom. The king asked, “According to the law, what should be done with Queen Vashti, since she refused to obey King Ahasuerus's command that was delivered by the eunuchs?”III. The bad advice born out of selfish fear  Esther 1:16-18Memucan said in the presence of the king and his officials, “Queen Vashti has wronged not only the king, but all the officials and the peoples who are in every one of King Ahasuerus's provinces. For the queen's action will become public knowledge to all the women and cause them to despise their husbands and say, ‘King Ahasuerus ordered Queen Vashti brought before him, but she did not come.' Before this day is over, the noble women of Persia and Media who hear about the queen's act will say the same thing to all the king's officials, resulting in more contempt and fury.IV. The law takes center stage     Esther 1:19-22“If it meets the king's approval, he should personally issue a royal decree. Let it be recorded in the laws of the Persians and the Medes, so that it cannot be revoked: Vashti is not to enter King Ahasuerus's presence, and her royal position is to be given to another woman who is more worthy than she. The decree the king issues will be heard throughout his vast kingdom, so all women will honor their husbands, from the greatest to the least.” The king and his counselors approved the proposal, and he followed Memucan's advice. He sent letters to all the royal provinces, to each province in its own script and to each ethnic group in its own language, that every man should be master of his own house and speak in the language of his own people.Next Steps: Believe: Today, I surrender to the real King of my soul.Become: Today, I will trust God's hand even when it's scary.Be Sent: I will take a stand against evil this week.Growth Group Questions: What pressure were you under last week? How well did you stand up to it?Do you ever feel punished for doing the right thing in God's sight? How do you respond when doing what the culture expects of you violates what God expects of you?Who in our society pressures women, like in Vashti's day?How can you support someone who is currently under a lot of peer pressure? How can the people in this group help you find the courage to stand strong when under pressure to compromise your faith?Pray for the Holy Spirit to give us the strength to stand against evil this week.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 8th of January, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Matthew 12:30: ”He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.” Very strong words spoken by the Master Himself, our Lord Jesus Christ. Then we go straight to James 4:4, out of the Message translation: ”You're cheating on God. If all you want is your own way, flirting with the world every chance you get, you end up enemies of God and his way.” Very strong scripture. Folks, we cannot serve two masters. Either we are for Him, or we are against Him. We cannot be undecided. The Lord says in Revelation 3:16, ”I'd rather you were ice cold than lukewarm, but if you are lukewarm, I will spew you out of my mouth.” I really believe that we need to stand up and be counted. We cannot be undecided. Do you know why? Because if we are hunting with the hounds one day, and running with the hares another day, then we'll be nowhere at all!I read a little illustration by a man of God, which I thought was very special. What he is saying is like the ivy creeper and the oak tree. “The ivy may give the oak a grand and beautiful appearance but all the while it is feeding on the vitals of the oak tree.” He says, ”Are we compromising with the enemies of God? Are we being embraced by the world, it's honours, it's pleasures, it's applause? And in the meantime, this may add to us in the world's estimation, but our strength becomes lost.” We have to make up our mind, are we going to be for God or not? You see, if everybody is your friend, then you don't have any friends. We've got to be salty. We've got to call sin by it's name and we've got to walk according to the word of God if we are going to be effective for Him and not swallowed up eventually by the system of the world.Today, the Lord wants to encourage you and I to stand tall so that people know who we are.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.

What does it mean to be human? To navigate a Soul? To learn to heal from Life & its experiences? How can we come to be fully present in our bodies and trust ourselves and our paths? These are question that my guest this week, Kyla Gagnon, is deeply acquainted with. She is a strong advocate for Feminine empowerment and inner strength combined with peace. She wants women to speak all the way up about anything +everything & to know what safety in their body feels like, safety in partnership feels like and safety in FULLY living feels like. Kyla aims to inspire women to disengage from mediocre and step into their wildness. On this Guest episode Kyla tells us about her journey work as a trauma release breathwork facilitator and empowerment coach for women. We discuss her mission to help 1,000,000 women reclaim their power and amplify their lives and how we can all be apart of this mission. She shares about how After a 15 year career as a fitness coach, competitor, model and writer, yoga instructor and retreat leader SOMETHING wsmissing. There was a DEPTH I was craving, and fitness felt limiting and superficial. I found Breathwork in 2019 and everything changed for me , literally overnight. The depth I was seeking was within ME and it took a breathwork journey to open this up for me. I burnt my business to the ground and dove head first into somatics, trauma training and breathwork. Now 6 years later I am HOME, and get to support others in finding this magic within them everyday. BIO:Kyla Gagnon is a somatic Breathwork facilitator and embodiment and empowerment coach for women. She is also a retreat host, and the host of Reclaimed, the podcast. A podcast dedicated to supporting women in reclaiming their power. Kyla's work is rooted in trauma informed nervous system regulation and emotional regulation through a somatic lens (body based vs mind based). She is the founder of Breathe With Kyla, a somatics and BREATHWORK membership for women, and School Of Breath Medicine a breathwork and somatics teacher training program. After 16 years in the fitness industry, it became crystal clear that there had to be something more, something deeper and it's been through conscious connected Breathwork that she has found this depth both within herself and within her clients. It was an immediate and intuitive knowing that this was the direction to take, and after one session she began the process of closing her business of 16 years and stepping fully into somatics and Breathwork. LINKS: Breathe With Kyla Masterclass Membership.  ( use code PODCAST) for 15% off  School Of Breath Medicine January 2026

This is a fan fav episode. For the highly motivated driven woman reading this, we've got one question for you. What are you chasing after? When you show up in your career or your business, are you getting the respect you want or is everyday the battle for your boundaries and peace of mind? Angie Martinez, Radio Hall of Famer, The Voice of New York, Radio Hip Hop Legend, has earned the respect of some of the biggest names in hip hop like Jay-Z and TuPac. Angie went from a young girl with zero experience interning at Hot 97 in New York to being synonymous with hip hop culture and generating value beyond anything she ever imagined. She's definitely of the Hustle Hard mentality and like many of us she's had to learn how to speak up and hold her ground in a culture that can be totally intimidating. Angie's path to becoming the legend that she is was rough, not clearly defined and something we all can relate to. How do you crawl through a mile of crap and become resilient as heck on the other side of it all? You pick yourself up, decide the story you're going to tell yourself, and learn that there needs to be harmony between what you're chasing and being content where you are right now. I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 19th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the first book of the Bible, Genesis 26:27-28:”And Isaac said to them, “Why have you come to me, since you hate me and have sent me away from you?” Then the reply from King Abimelech: ”But they said, “We have certainly seen that the Lord is with you.” Then we go to the New Testament, to the Book of Romans 8:31: “If God is for us, who can be against us?”You see, what happened was, King Abimelech had chased Isaac, Abraham's son, away, and he left, but where God sent him, he prospered. He prospered in everything he did and he succeeded and Abimelech saw that. So he came with the commander of his army and one of his friends and said, ”Listen, we want to make a truce with you. We want to make a covenant with you because we see that your God prospers you.” How many times have you seen that in life? You know, I remember as a wild young man, we would go out to a party, group of us young guys in a motorcar and there would be one of the chaps in the car that was not a drinker. He was a Christian. When we'd go to the party and all get a little bit under the weather, what did we do? We gave the keys of the motorcar to that one chap because we knew that he would take us home safely because he was a follower of Christ.I want to say to the young man listening to this program today. Do not compromise your stand for anybody. You say, ”But it's making me very unpopular.” Yes, it actually made Isaac very unpopular as well. That's why he was chased away, but later Abimelech, who chased him away, saw how God was prospering him and came to Isaac to make peace.A young shepherd boy, maybe 13 years old, took on a mighty giant, a seasoned warrior of the Philistines, and actually took him apart, piece by piece. “Do you think I'm a dog?” Goliath said, ”that you come against me with stones and sticks?” And what was the reply? David said, ”I come against you in the name of the God of the people of Israel. The God of all gods.” He used his slingshot with one stone and killed that giant. I want to say to you today, do not compromise your stand for anyone. Stand tall for the Lord because the Lord will defend you, not only defend you, but He will prosper you in everything you do, and I want to tell you, it's a great honour when people say, ”Are you one of those?” You can say, ”Yes I am. I'm a follower of Jesus Christ.”God bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.

The Courage to Stand Tall is a bold spiritual talk that invites you to break free from the conditioning that tells you to play small. If you've ever felt that confidence is arrogance, it's time to challenge that lie. True confidence isn't ego—it's presence. It's the grounded, unapologetic power of knowing who you are and standing in that truth without shrinking. In this transformative message, Rev. Lee Wolak, author of The Power in You, explores how past programming clouds our worth and how to awaken to the spiritual courage that allows you to walk tall, speak clearly, and live freely. What comes up for you when someone calls you ambitious? Are you offended? Appreciative? A little of both? What about the word “sacrifice”? Whether it's in your career or your personal life, where do you draw the line when it comes to deferring your own wants, needs, and desires in service of someone else's agenda? In this podcast, Tami Simon speaks with author and entrepreneurial soul coach Rha Goddess about her new book, Intentional Ambition, addressing these life-changing questions.  Tune in for an inspiring, provocative, and in many ways healing conversation that digs into: a more balanced definition of “success”; wounded ambition and the fear of taking risks; how our resistance to disappointment creates disappointment; the dilemma of “living on halftime”; restoration after a breakdown; distorted determination; sacrifice and suffering; reconnecting with our humanity and building a society where everyone thrives; the “belly full” personality type; the five ways ambition can be wounded—and the five healing “redemptions”; systemic roadblocks and overcoming that which thwarts us on our path; reclaiming—the first step in renegotiation; refusing to buy into the “scare of scarcity”; embracing the truth of our wholeness and worthiness; rewriting your inner narrative; and more.
