Any chef will tell you that we eat with our eyes; that the way a plate of food is presented and appears will affect the taste of the meal.So then surely, when we first enter a wedding reception space, the visual impact of the room is like the opening scene of a movie and the precursor for everything that comes after. And for those engaged couples who are not booking a stylist, or who have locked in a dry hire venue, one of the most overlooked aspects of wedding planning has to be the lighting, draping and audio visual elements.Today I'm chatting with Sam, from Amuse Event Lighting and Audio Visual. He shares insider tips on how to prioritise your lighting budget, collaborate with stylists or suppliers, and avoid common pitfalls, the things that couples overlook, like functionality and safety, highlighting key features, and how to make your wedding look like a scene straight out of a movie. If the thought of fairy lights, chandeliers, or creative mood lighting feels overwhelming, this conversation will give you clear, practical advice to light your wedding day perfectly.RESOURCES Amuse Event Lighting and Audio Visual: https://amuselav.com.au/Amuse Event LAV on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/amuselighting/Send Unbridely a 90-second audio message on Speakpipe: https://www.speakpipe.com/unbridelypodcast*The Unbridely Podcast is sponsored by its listeners. Visiting three very different vineyards highlighted the importance of first impressions, customer experience, and long-term loyalty — lessons that translate directly into the dance studio world. She shares how small details can make or break the way families feel about your school, why creating programmes you love isn't enough if they don't meet parents' needs, and how growing too fast without strong leadership can lead to problems. Deborah also explains why your most experienced teachers should work with your youngest students and why principals must remain visible as the face of their business. With a practical challenge to use a “secret shopper” to experience your studio as parents do, this episode will get you thinking about how every stage of your customer journey shapes the future of your school.Thank you for listening. Women are too often penalised, and prevented opportunities to progress to leadership, because their boss might lead (and deliver results) in a different way to them; this is bias. In today's episode I am talking about the penalty, that women often unknowingly experience because of how their leadership style is evaluated. I am exploring:What leadership evaluation bias isHow women can be judged on HOW they deliver rather than on the result itselfThe different approach a lot of women take when it comes to data mining and decision making and how that might differ from their male stakeholdersWhat you can do if you feel like your leadership is being unfairly judgedAnd how to challenge your own leadership evaluation bias if you feel it could be holding talented women in your team backSomething Rebecca said today:"What IS performance? Is it how you deliver an outcome, or the outcome itself? I'm going to say something that might shock you: Many of us — maybe even you — are far more prideful than we realize. You may be thinking, “Ryan, who do you think you are? You don't know me.” But take a moment and really think about it. None of us want to admit that deep down inside of us may exist something that says, “I don't need God” or “my way is better than His way.” Yet, that is what we are saying when we sin and decide to go against what God wants for us. When we sin, we consciously or subconsciously are telling God that our way is better than His, and this is pride. If we take an honest look at ourselves, we may realize that pride exists in many of us — to greater or lesser degrees.   This weekend we will dive into the parable of the pharisee and the tax collector where we are called to look inward at the posture of our hearts to see where pride exists. However, at the same time, in this parable we are shown what true humility looks like and invited to turn away from our pride and live as the humble sons and daughters who are bought by the blood of Jesus Christ and saved from our sins. I would love if you would join us this weekend at Illuminate as we journey through this parable together. See you then!

Key Points “The higher their level of authority, the more structured and brief your approach should be.” -Nancy Duarte Time is an essential asset for executives. Appreciating how much they work to maximize efficiency can help you align better with their world. Craft a recommendation that's brief and easily skimmable. Leave time for questions and expect to be grilled. Executives are measured on money (revenue/profit and costs), market (market share and time to market), and exposure (retention and risk). We speak these stories on loop, and they shape our reality more than we might realize.Ive learned that the key to escaping this trance, to truly coming alive, is to pause. When we catch ourselves mid-thought—especially with self-criticism—each pause becomes an invitation to rewrite our story. Let's explore how patterns of thought keep us stuck, how negative “shadow” frequencies run the show, and how to shift to higher perspectives through self-regulation.The Power of the Pause1. Recognizing the TranceEvery belief we hold about ourselves is fueled by a story. Repeated long enough, these stories become trance-like. From feeling “sick and tired of being sick and tired” to having your nervous system locked in a loop of anxiety or self-criticism, a pause in your inner monologue marks the start of transformation.2. Changing the NarrativeWhen you consciously stop negative self-talk, you leave space for something helpful to emerge. In that silence, new possibilities unfold. Over time, inserting these pauses retrains your mind to choose empowering stories instead of limiting ones.Shadow Frequencies: When Strengths Turn ToxicMany of our defining traits have a light and a shadow side. Society often honors the shadow side without realizing its damage. Consider these pairs:* Commander → Dictator: Leading becomes controlling.* Challenger → Manipulator: Healthy challenge mutates into covert pressure.* Motivator → Performer: Inspiring others degrades into seeking approval.* Healer → Wounded Healer: Helping morphs into self-neglect and bitterness.* Professor → Diminisher: Teaching becomes belittling others to feel in control.* Seer/Mystic → Perfectionist: Vision becomes obsession with an unachievable ideal. We may adopt these shadow frequencies because our culture celebrates them: the most forceful commander, the cut-throat competitor, and the relentless perfectionist are often applauded. Yet these traits, left unchecked, can hollow out our souls.Regulating Your Nervous SystemNo matter how deep your insights, if your nervous system is overloaded, transformation can remain out of reach. Feeling perpetually stressed, triggered, or anxious means your body is in constant fight-or-flight mode, and it's challenging to access inner wisdom from that state.Working from the “bottom up” (beginning with the actual physiological patterns of tension, trauma, or overwhelm) allows you to:* Release the Energy: Stored trauma—large or small—can hold us back.* Access New Storylines: A calmer body helps you reclaim choice over your internal narrative.* Ground Your Insights: Self-regulation ensures your knowledge becomes lived wisdom, not just theoretical understanding. From the Shadow to the Light* Burn Down the Old HouseSometimes, to build the life you truly desire, you have to let the old structure collapse: the beliefs, identities, or illusions that no longer serve you. This means acknowledging the bitterness, jealousy, or resentment clinging within you.* Build the PenthousePicture your best self in a penthouse with a clear panoramic view, rather than stuck on the ground floor with garbage piling up around you. From “the top,” you see life with more clarity and fresh air. Your perspective expands.* Make New AgreementsOur culture might habitually favor the shadow, but you can choose differently. The conscious choice to spotlight light rather than shadow transforms how you self-lead, how you relate to others, and how you impact the world. Above all…..Your Story's LightAbove all, know that you are exactly where you need to be. If you expected to be further along in life or if you're grappling with patterns you thought you would have outgrown, remember: personal evolution doesn't follow a rigid timeline. Shifting from the shadow to the light is a lifelong practice. Hey, Begin Today!* Pause: Notice negative self-talk or resentment “stories” the moment they arise.* Check In: Observe your nervous system. Are you tense? Are your thoughts racing? Take a breath.* Rewrite: Take the reins and write a new, empowering inner statement.* Stay Curious: Ask: “Where did this old story come from?” Shine light on the root.* Invite Compassion: For yourself, for others, for the process. In ConclusionStepping into a higher frequency of self-leadership and light requires vigilance and courage. It involves acknowledging the shadow frequencies without letting them define us. With nervous system regulation, a willingness to burn out old habits, and the commitment to build anew, you can break the trance that's been woven through society and personal history.Remember: It's the pause between thoughts that allows you to reclaim power over your stories. From that space, you can transform your life's narrative from limitation into limitless possibility. Whether you step into the role of commander, motivator, healer, seer, or any other archetype—this time, you can let it emerge from light rather than shadow. That is genuine inner freedom, and it starts with you.An invitation. Your subconscious mind holds 90% of your patterns, often unconsciously sabotaging your desires. Bring them to awareness. Have you ever heard a child say, “But that's not fair”? How did you respond? Have you ever thought that yourself? We've all witnessed something that doesn't seem consistent with the “law” of fairness. Maybe something good happens to someone we don't believe deserves it. Or perhaps something bad happens to someone who doesn't seem to have done anything to deserve such a negative outcome. I'm looking forward to being back with you at Illuminate this Sunday as we learn from Jesus' parable of the workers in the vineyard (Matt. 20:1–16) that God's kingdom is built on grace—not karma.

In this episode, Tiffany Daniels joins us from Arlington, TX. She and her husband have been married for about 35 years and have three grown kids and almost 4 grandkids. As the wife of a lead pastor, Tiffany has been in ministry for many years, but our conversation today focuses mainly on how God unexpectedly led her to start an organization called THERE{4} in 2015, a weekend conference for high school girls. My daughter Charlotte recently got to participate in the middle school version and absolutely loved it. Today we dive in with Tiffany telling us more about the heart behind this ministry. Social media handle: @tiffanydaniels, @there4gatheringShow Notes:At Your Best by Carey NieuwhofRedeeming Your Time by Jordan Raynor“The Lord birthed a passion in my heart to create a space for teens to come together and have the Word of God spoken over them in such a clear and powerful way but also make it relevant and fun for them.” “At that moment, I said ‘Yes, Lord.' And I had no idea what it was going to look like. I had no idea if it was even going to get off the ground. But I said Yes.”“For us sometimes as women we can kind of stall out, and in those seasons I've encouraged those that are either in my circle or behind me that feel like they're stalling to ask the Lord. There's a verse in Psalm 13 that says, ‘Lord brighten my eyes.' Illuminate me, show me. God is so faithful to do that.”“There's a verse that hangs on my wall in my office from Zechariah 4:10, it says, ‘Do not despise the day of small beginnings because the Lord delights to see the work begin.' And so many of the little ideas and dreams that I have had, have started very small.”“You know what I am seeing overall is that [teenage girls] are hungry for truth.”“I think as a leader too just trying to really be mindful of how I use my words with others, either with my team, on or off the grid, with people in my church community. I think words hold such power, and our words hold so much power.” “I tend to run fast, that's my DNA, my humanness. Lately, if I'm being really vulnerable, the word stroll has come front and center to me, and to me it's like - slow down, take time to sit in it, don't rush through it, pay attention, pray about it, get in the Word. What does the Lord say about it? And I think that's been such a powerful discipline.”“I think we should always have that posture, regardless of if we're in a slump or not, to be teachable, and open to those safe people pointing out our blindspots. I ask my team a lot, I have to repeat to them, I want to be teachable. I always want to be teachable. Bring it on. And that can be scary!” Verses: Psalm 13:3Zechariah 4:10 Psalm 145:4

Jeffrey Goldberg has been a thorn in President Donald Trump's side since the real-estate developer–turned reality-show host first ran for office in 2016. Back then — ten months before he took over as editor-in-chief of The Atlantic — Goldberg wrote a piece headlined “A Brief Exercise Meant to Illuminate the Prejudices of Donald Trump.” The magazine has continued its unsparing criticism of Trump ever since, and Goldberg's recent Signalgate story was just the latest in a series of blockbuster scoops that have nominally embarrassed the president.  On Friday, Goldberg sat down with Kara for an on-stage interview at the WBUR Festival in Boston. They discussed Trump's corruption, the unserious people staffing his administration (as well as with the very serious Russell Vought, a Project 2025 architect who heads the OMB), the Democratic Party's travails, and the state of the news media.  Questions?
