MY Devotional: Daily Encouragement from Leading The Way

Have you ever skimmed instructions simply to confirm what you already believed? We can do the same thing with Scripture—approaching the Bible with predetermined ideas and searching only for verses that support them. In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef warns against reading our own assumptions into God's Word. When we force a favorite theme, opinion, or belief onto every passage, we risk missing what God is actually saying. Pride in our knowledge can blind us to fresh truths about His character, His love, and our continuing need for Him. Faithful Bible study begins by asking what the text actually says. That means considering its original setting, reading passages in context, using sound study tools, and resisting the temptation to make Scripture say what we want it to say. Dr. Youssef also reminds us that meaningful Bible study cannot be rushed. The treasures of God's Truth reward those who seek Him diligently. Growth requires time, attention, humility, and a willingness to listen. Come to Scripture not merely looking for confirmation, but for transformation. Slow down, seek the Lord earnestly, and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into the Truth God wants you to see. Prayer: Holy Spirit, open my eyes so that I may see wonderful Truth from Your Word. Illuminate my mind so that I can learn what You want me to learn. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. “Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character . . . for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true” (Acts 17:11). By design, you are a gift to the world around you. You carry unique things that set you apart. And you are your most human self when you live true to your whole self as God made you—fully engaged with Him, yourself, and the world around you. This means showing up every day with your whole person, sitting with Him, asking Him to show you the conflict within you and then allowing Him to lead you in His thoughts, His ways, and His will. From there it means applying those things, that LOVE, upwardly, inwardly, and outwardly every day, sharing the good news that Jesus is the enthroned King of the universe, the conqueror of sin, sickness, and death, and that He is calling all people into His family—to experience new life in Him and with Him, truly human, right now, and throughout eternity."Penetrate my inner man, Abba, and know my soul intimately. Test me like gold in the fire and know my divided thoughts—all my hidden anxiety and mental turbulence—every bit, holding nothing back. Stories From Women Who Walk

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with the final Motivate Your Monday episode and your host, Diane Wyzga. As you know, the ending of every story holds the beginning of a new one. I'm retiring 60 Seconds and Motivate Your Monday episodes. Instead of ending these changes are evolving to Begin Anew. I launched my podcast, Stories From Women Who Walk in April 2020 as a platform for conversations with women who were walking their lives until their lives were flipped upside down by something unexpected, how they met the challenges, and changed to becoming stronger, even more confident women. I loved every single moment of listening stories out of my guests! COVID flipped our lives upside down, too. We were no longer commuting to work over long distances or in cars. Who would have the time to listen to a 30 or 40-minute conversation? What to do? Pivot to 60 Seconds. No one was offering this format. Turned out that I was really good at distilling topics, ideas and stories into soundbytes to inform, illuminate, delight, and comfort my listeners. At the same time I created a Listener Location Shout-out to kick off each episode to acknowledge and thank you for listening. How did I know where you were listening? The Simplecast platform provides a global map with yellow dots that light up the villages, towns and cities where your feet touch the ground all around the world. Each shout-out included a URL linked to the location so that other listeners could “armchair travel” to that place. Imagine how much I learned about my global audience. Some 1,330 episodes and close to 250,000 plays later it's time to do something different. But what? Running like a river beneath the surface of the lived experience moments of our lives is a deeper, truer one waiting to be acknowledged. How do I acknowledge that deeper truth? What will I hear when I let my Life speak? Where will it lead me next so that I can make the transitions I seek while inviting you to come along with me on the journey? I promise you this: the voice you have come to know and trust for over 6 plus years on the airwaves, along with the stories, insights, questions and prompts that speak to each of us as if to say, “What! You, too? I thought I was the only one.” [C.S.Lewis] I'd like to focus my creative efforts on producing “Diane on Mic” short-form episodes—maybe 7 minutes or so of spoken word—for Wednesdays on Whidbey and Story Prompt Friday. CTA: Let's continue making the very most of the time we have together, uncovering, discovering, shaping and sharing our stories. Let me know what you think. If there is something you're curious about, something you'd like to hear as my podcast begins anew, please email me and let me know: info@quartermoonstoryarts.net or subscribe on Substack. BIBLE IN TEN

Tuesday, 28 July 2026   And the vinedressers took his servants, beat one, killed one, and stoned another.  Matthew 21:35   “And having taken, the agronomists, the ‘servants, his', one, indeed, they scourged. One, also, they killed. One, also, they stoned.” (CG)   In the previous verse, Jesus said in the ongoing parable that at the time of the ripe fruit, the housemaster sent servants to the agronomists that they might receive its fruit. He continues next, saying, “And having taken, the agronomists, the ‘servants, his', one, indeed, they scourged.”   The word is deró. It literally signifies to flay. By implication, it means to scourge, which causes the skin to be flayed. This is a painful, and at times lethal, form of punishment. Next, He says, “One, also, they killed.”   This is a general word that signifies to kill outright. No particular type of killing is implied, just that the person is killed. Once again, Jesus says, “One, also, they stoned.”   This is another new word, lithoboleó. It is from lithos, a stone, and balló, to throw, cast, etc. Thus, it signifies lapidation. It is a form of punishment recognized in the Law of Moses, and it is noted as being used against offenders in Israel's history, such as –   “And Joshua said, ‘Why have you troubled us? The Lord will trouble you this day.' So all Israel stoned him with stones; and they burned them with fire after they had stoned them with stones.” Joshua 7:25   Having gone this far into the parable, we can now start to look at the metaphors that Jesus is using. Thus far, we've seen the vineyard that God prepared to bear fruit. It is Israel, the nation. The barrier wall is the Law of Moses. That is seen in the word used, phragmos. Paul uses it in Ephesians 2:14 when referring to the law –   “For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation.”   The purgos, or tower, is defined by Strong as specifically being a burgh, an old word signifying an incorporated town. The main building of the town, often a tower-type building, would be representative of it. This would be the tabernacle/temple with the Levitical system of rites and sacrifices. The agronomists are the leaders of the nation, given charge of the nation's cultural, political, and religious care.   The fruit season is the time expected for there to be religious fruit borne among the people. There was expected to be a fruitful harvest of the people. However, when God sent the prophets in anticipation of such a harvest, they treated them as is seen in this verse now.   Life application: Jesus is using examples of one thing to convey a message about other things. His words, when He is complete, will be so obvious to those who hear that it will say in verse 45, “Now when the chief priests and Pharisees heard His parables, they perceived that He was speaking of them.”   Everything about His words relies on other things in Scripture to make these points. By understanding the cultural, political, and religious aspects of Israel that are presented in the Bible, the words come into focus, and the meaning of the overall parable can then be rightly understood.   There is usually no reason to go beyond the word itself to find the meaning of the metaphor, although that may be needed at times. For example, the barrier wall explains itself when studying the other uses of the word. Paul explicitly states that the law is that barrier. The full context in Ephesians 2 says –   “For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, 16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.” Ephesians 2:14-16   As the Bible has stated this, there is no need to go further to find other symbolism. Pay attention to what is going on as you read. What a treasure we have in God's wonderful word.   Lord God, open our eyes as we read and study Your word. Illuminate our understanding so that we can know just what You intend for us to see. And, Lord, help us to live according to this word all the days of our lives. Amen.

What's the real cost of letting a C-player stay on your team? Chris Hallberg—military veteran, entrepreneur, and Inc. Magazine top 10 leadership expert—joins Jeff Mains to draw the sharp line between “nice” and “kind” leadership. They break down why most founders sabotage their own teams by tolerating the wrong people, why performance management still feels squishy for so many organizations, and what it actually takes to build an elite, founder-led team from startup through $30M.Chris dishes out battle-tested strategies for accountability, culture, scaling teams, and building a talent engine that compounds every quarter. Years ago, watching TV at home, I discovered a true modern age humanist and true ambassador, Francesco Trecci, political science and history graduate, author, historian and commercial director who challenged himself to connect two antique and proud cultures, Italy and Republic of Georgia, illuminate them with knowledge to connect them on a deeper level. Ever since, I can proudly say we have become friends due to a common passion and interest that is central to the multicultural, global business leadership mission of the Alloutcoach Podcast. Enjoy this episode, which is a deeply personal conversation between us in which we discuss Francesco's journey and essentially describe how far a person's patriotism, humanism, as well as curiosity can go in becoming a celebrated, respected and admired figure an entire country knows based on the three books Trecci has written and his own inspiration to learn about a new culture in such incredible depth. Get to know Francesco Trecci on Facebook and across social media channels. The podcast is in Italian, but is fully subtitled in English. As a bonus musical dedication to this podcast, you will also hear a song called "Born in Georgia" I had written and produced completely with a new arrangement years ago based on a worldly famous Italian patriotic song "L'Italiano" by Toto Cutugno. The production in the studio involved people from 6 different cultures - a testament to how modern age humanism, respect, and curiosity for not just one's own but other countries can build bridges between people, illuminate, and enrich them, which is ever so critical in today's world.Timeline0:00 Speaker and Episode Introduction3:30 What inspired you initially to learn about the Republic of Georgia?4:40 Where does your curiosity come from?6:39 How do you define a person to whom one culture or one passion is not enough to be happy?7:52 What are some historic figures that transcended borders that influenced you?10:36 Why studying a foreign country in depth does not reduce your patriotism12:54 Personal Story - Returning to my native Georgia after 8 years and its personal impact14:06 Value of Modern Humanism and Ambassador Connecting 2 Cultures14:48 Francesco Trecci's Three Books in Italian about Georgia16:47 Biggest Success and Lesson in Francesco's JourneyConnecting with people in Georgia thanks to the books he has written18:02 Greetings and announcement of a musical dedication19:04 Song: "Born in Georgia" - new arrangement based on an Italian Patriotic Song in Georgian22:37 Closing Remarks: How a patriotic song dedicated to 1 song connected people from 6 different cultures in the recording studio

ARCHITECTING Podcast - Career + Lifestyle Mentoring for Architects looking to move beyond overwhelm and make a difference thr

Invisible labor is everywhere—at work, at home, and especially in high-achieving environments. It's the extra effort no one assigns but everyone expects. The problem? The moment you stop doing it, the narrative shifts. Suddenly you're “difficult,” “needy,” or “not a team player.” If you've ever felt trapped in a cycle of overgiving, this conversation will help you step out of it—strategically. – The psychological and social backlash when you stop overgiving – How behavioral patterns reinforce these expectations – Practical ways to set boundaries without damaging your reputation   There is a difference between feeling wanted and being valued. Your own behavioral patterns, often an attempt to seem easy to get along with or agreeable set you up to reinforce extra expectations for work that goes unrewarded. Illuminate the invisible: List everything you do behind the scenes that keeps things running smoothly. Share the time it takes and the way it positively impacts outcomes. Focus on delegating the whole task, including the invisible parts of it so others appreciate the true effort involved. Set boundaries - you are not responsible for dragging others across the finish line or for compliance with warped definitions of leadership or psychological safety. Wanting credit for what you do is not presumptuous. Deserved elevation of your authority or title signals that you and your work are taken seriously.

As we head into Easter weekend, I cannot wait to join you for both Good Friday and Easter Sunday services. Good Friday will be a quieter, more reflective time as we sit in the weight and meaning of the cross. We'll walk through the final words of Jesus, each one revealing His heart, His mercy, and the price He willingly paid for us. It's a moment to slow down, examine our hearts, and remember the depth of His love as we come to the table together. Then on Easter Sunday, everything shifts. We celebrate the resurrection! The moment that changed everything. We'll look at how people responded to the empty tomb: some worshiped, some doubted, and some rejected it altogether. And in that, we're invited to see ourselves. Wherever you are spiritually right now, steady in your faith, full of questions, or just exploring, I believe this message will meet you in a meaningful way. More than anything, I hope this weekend feels like an open door for you to invite friends and family to experience the people of Illuminate and the gospel of Jesus. Bring whatever you're carrying and encounter the hope that only Jesus offers. I'm praying that God meets you personally, whether in the quiet reflection of Friday or the joy of Sunday, and reminds you just how deeply you are loved.

Hello to you listening wherever your feet touch the ground! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga. Today marks the 6th anniversary of Stories From Women Who Walk that launched (no fooling!) on April 1st 2020. As you may remember the first year I interviewed woman who were walking their lives when a conflict unexpectedly showed up causing them to make choices, accept consequences, change who they were into who they became. The conflict that caused me to pivot from my interviews to my singular 60 Seconds format was COVID; we were no longer commuting in cars listening to longer podcasts. Here we are 6 years, 1,300 episodes, and over 250,000 plays all over the world! Who made it possible? You did! Our global community. I'm still here because you're still there. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Going forward we still have work to do as Ordinary Persons gathering into a growing Army of Ordinary Persons to demand a better way of life for all of us. You can count on me to provide ongoing 60 Seconds episodes to support, encourage, inspire, delight, illuminate, provoke, and energize! You can expect resilience and resistance balanced with hope and stories to help us live each day trusting that our collective decency, goodness, and strength will birth something so much better than what we have right now. I welcome you and each of you on the journey! Write your stories, share them out loud, be well, do good work, and stay in touch! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Speaking of magic, I hope you'll subscribe, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, bring your friends and rellies, and join us! You will have wonderful company as we continue to walk our lives together. Carthage, Rome, and Imperial DeclineThe final debate explores the historical destruction of Carthage to illuminate the modern American Empire's troubled trajectory and uncertain future. Germanicus advances a provocative thesis: the United States now more closely resembles Carthage—a wealthy, financialized, multicultural mercantile power relying on paid soldiers and foreign contractors—than the cohesive, destiny-driven Republic of Rome whose citizen-soldiers conquered the known world through shared sacrifice. They observe how historical narratives are invariably shaped by victors, noting that figures from Napoleon to modern filmmakers consistently utilize defeated enemies like Carthage or the Nazis to define national identity and justify present ambitions. A striking reversal emerges from their analysis: Russian propaganda now appropriates Roman symbols of martial virtue, disciplined unity, and civilizational mission, while the United Statesappears increasingly as a "flabby empire of financial usury" potentially facing its own Carthago delenda est moment at the hands of more vigorous rivals. The discussion concludes with a somber warning drawn from Byzantium's fall in 1204, when Crusaders who should have been allies instead sacked the great city: a disunited nation lacking shared vision and collective willingness to sacrifice stands vulnerable to sudden, catastrophic collapse, potentially ending the "American Empire" far sooner than its citizens imagine possible.1450 VIRGIL: DIDO WELCOMES AENEAS TO CARTHAGE
