“I had never played a concert until I got a record deal with Sub Pop and they were like, ‘Well, you should consider going on tour,'" says Iron & Wine's Sam Beam. "I was like, ‘Oh shit.' It's a very atypical story, and it also made me suffer from a lot of imposter syndrome for a long time. I felt like I wasn't supposed to be there, that I had fooled someone along the way and they were gonna find out and the gig was gonna be up.” Some 24 years later, the gig is nowhere near up for Beam,  who's been releasing beautiful music as Iron & Wine ever since his 2002 Sub Pop Records debut, The Creek Drank the Cradle, and his latest, his 8th studio album Hen's Teeth is another wonderful collection of music. It came out in late February and we talk about the making of the album in episode 135, and we also delve into his earlier creative history, how he began in visual arts (drawing and filmmaking) before getting his first four-track, and the inspiration he got from artists including Sebadoh, Cowboy Junkies, R.E.M., Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen, among others.  We also discuss a future project he's excited to develop — a Broadway musical! Depuis quelques années, le fait que les langues romanes (espagnol, portugais, italien, roumain) soient des langues genrées, il existe un débat sur le fait que certaines de ces langues sont sexistes.C'est notamment un débat concernant la langue française. Pourquoi le masculin l'emporte sur le féminin ? C'est-à-dire, pourquoi, lorsqu'il y a un homme et 10 000 femmes, on doit dire “ils” ? Pourquoi certains métiers sont généralement utilisés au masculin ? Pourquoi le neutre en français est-il utilisé au masculin singulier ? Des linguistes et grammairiens se sont penchés sur ces questions depuis quelques années. Ce questionnement, qui dérange certains, est pourtant légitime notamment lorsqu'on essaie d'avoir un discours plus inclusif. On n'est pas obligé d'être d'accord sur tout, tout le temps. Ce n'est pas le but. Néanmoins, lorsque le questionnement sur la visibilité du féminin dans le discours de la langue française crée de la réticence, on peut se poser la question : pourquoi ? Pourquoi le fait de rendre le féminin plus visible ou de redonner une place au féminin irrite tant de personnes ? Serait-ce parce que donner de la visibilité au féminin, c'est en partie réduire la visibilité de l'autre ? Ce questionnement dérange et dérangera encore longtemps. For years, companies that needed to move money at scale faced the same frustrating tradeoff: build their own bank integrations and compliance infrastructure — a process that could take months — or stitch together a patchwork of specialized vendors, each covering a different rail. Modern Treasury has spent years sitting inside that problem, providing software infrastructure to help companies integrate with their banks, track funds, and manage ledgering at scale. Now, the founders have taken the company a significant step further, launching Payments, an integrated PSP that handles onboarding, KYB, and banking infrastructure on a client's behalf, compressing what used to be a six-month setup into days. Stablecoins are built in natively from day one, powered by Modern Treasury's acquisition of Beam, a stablecoin infrastructure company founded by Dan Mottice, who previously led crypto products at Visa and now heads stablecoin strategy at Modern Treasury. No puede decirse que el ataque conjunto de EE.UU. e Israel contra Irán nos pillase completamente por sorpresa. Pero tampoco fue algo que el mundo estuviese esperando o que pareciera inminente. No al menos en el momento en el que se produjo y de la forma en la que lo hizo. El enfrentamiento parece desequilibrado, pero si uno mira los objetivos de unos y otros quizás el resultado final no esté tan claro. Por una parte, tenemos la evidente superioridad aérea estadounidense; por el otro, la capacidad de respuesta asimétrica y la resiliencia del ejército iraní, que ha respondido en tiempo récord con misiles a bases de EE.UU. en la región. Además, está ahí la amenaza iraní (ahora mismo, más que amenaza, certeza) de cerrar el Estrecho de Ormuz. Este último punto es clave. Y está recibiendo la atención previsible. Porque el posible cierre (total o parcial, que esto último ya está en marcha) del estrecho de Ormuz representa una amenaza existencial para la estabilidad económica global. Por este cuello de botella transita aproximadamente el 20% del suministro mundial de petróleo y una quinta parte del gas natural licuado (GNL). La journée internationale des droits de la femme est, malheureusement, une journée indispensable. Tout comme les droits de la communauté LGBTQIA+, les droits de la femme ont été acquis très lentement et bien souvent, des années, voire des siècles après les hommes, et tant qu'on n'aura pas atteint une égalité et une parité, on devra célébrer la journée internationale des droits de la femme. Alors, forcément, en parler pour certains, cela est agaçant et c'est justement parce que c'est agaçant qu'il faut en parler. Dans cet épisode, tu vas découvrir les grands moments de l'histoire du féminisme en France. Je repars de l'histoire, depuis la Révolution française et Olympe de Gouges, jusqu'au droit de vote obtenu en 1944, puis aux grandes luttes des années 1970 autour de l'avortement et de la loi Veil.
