This week, we have the full roster of hosts, Chris, Andrew and our Salem boots on the ground member James Gravley. The guys get right into the past weekend where Nick Northcut and Joe "Big Boy" Davis go yard... a lot. We dig into the stacked, that's right we're saying it, stacked pitching depth in the system for Boston. Potential call-ups for the ailing Red Sox rotation and who could Chaim Bloom move to improve the big league roster?
In this week's episode, Ian relays some more reports from his second set of games with the Sea Dogs, finishing his look at the club's stacked rotation, impressive bullpen, and ... also the lineup. Plus Chris and Ian discuss the improving 40-man depth with Connor Seabold, Josh Winckowski, and Jeter Downs, the super-brief call-up of Jarren Duran, Nick Northcut turning into the king of homers and strikeouts, the emergence of Eduardo Lopez, and much more! (NOTE: This episode was recorded before Thursday night's news that Noah Song had graduated flight school and applied for another service waiver - we'll discuss that on the next episode!) 2019 has been an amazing year for the In The Dugout Podcast, we started this in February and it has grown and evolved to become what it is now! We’ve interviewed guys like Nick Northcut and Nick Decker in their dugout, and former Sox players like Pat Light and Jonny Gomes. We sat down with Red Sox prospects Nick Decker and Nick Northcut in the Lowell Spinners dugout for a great interview in which we asked them about their experience getting drafted, life in the minors, what being roommates is like for them, and a lot more! And before that, we discuss all the latest Red Sox news including Eduardo Nunez being DFA'd, the Dodgers series, Chris Sale continuing to struggle, acquiring Andrew Cashner, and more! Enjoy!
Boston Red Sox 2018 11th round selection and 17th ranked prospect by MLB.com Nick Northcut joins the podcast to talk about his career. The Ohio native touches on a variety of topics including the decision for him to move to playing the field over pitching, the decision to forego college, his high school experiences, and much more.
With the short season clubs starting to get into full swing, Chris and Ian have a lot to talk about as we enter the busiest time of the year. The guys discuss what the Chris Owings signing means for the organization's roster depth, Michael Chavis' adjustments, Rafael Devers becoming one of the club's best players, and some draft signings to open things. Ian provides some updates from Lowell's opening weekend on Antoni Flores, Nick Decker, Gilberto Jimenez, Nick Northcut and more. Chris then takes over, analyzing some of the early returns from the DSL and looking at quick starts from Bryan Gonzalez, Albert Feliz, Brainer Bonaci, and more. A listener email asks about Jarren Duran's raw power and whether Decker could rise in the rankings. Listen in! 0:00 - Intros, housekeeping, email us and remember to check us out on Patreon. The baseball season is right around the corner. Mason baseball coach Curt Bly discusses the upcoming Ohio high school season, which starts March 23. Bly discusses the Comets, who reached the state tournament last spring for the first time since 1987. He also talked about 2018 Gatorade Player of the Year and Boston Red Sox draft pick Nick Northcut. Also, the Southwest District basketball teams will be released this week honoring the area’s best boys’ and girls’ basketball players and coaches. RELATED: Join the Cincinnati area high school sports Facebook group As the tournament kicks into gear with the girls’ basketball district finals and boys’ sectional finals, Dayton Daily News reporter Marc Pendleton discusses how the all-district and all-state selections are made.
A 2018 MLB draft prospect Nick Northcut stops by to discuss his crazy schedule and what a typical day looks like for him. Nick is a Vanderbilt baseball commit but is likely to drafted in the top part of the MLB draft this upcoming season. In this episode Nick talks about his college recruitment and advice he has for other players who are currently getting recruited. I've been watching Nick work for the past few weeks and he doesn't get cheated when he is swinging the bat. I think you will enjoy meeting someone who could be in the Big Leagues sometime soon.
