Acuña, a five-time All-Star, will also compete in the Home Run Derby, while Olson, a local standout, earned his third All-Star nod. Sale, a nine-time All-Star, won’t pitch due to injury but was recognized for his stellar season. The event brings excitement to a struggling Braves team, currently 39-50, and offers a special homecoming for Olson and Acuña. STORY 2: Gwinnett installing roundabout near Jackson Elementary Gwinnett County has begun a $1.65 million intersection improvement project near Jackson Elementary School at Sever Road and Tab Roberts Road in Lawrenceville. The project, expected to last until early 2027, includes installing a roundabout to enhance traffic flow and safety, along with new sidewalks, drainage, street lighting, and curb improvements. Funded by the 2023 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, the work is being carried out by Backbone Infrastructure LLC, approved by county commissioners in March. STORY 3: Gwinnett's congressional representatives weigh in on passage of the 'Big, Beautiful Bill' Gwinnett County’s congressional representatives are divided over President Trump’s "One Big Beautiful Bill," which narrowly passed the House 218-214. Republicans Mike Collins and Andrew Clyde praised the bill, highlighting its tax cuts, debt ceiling raise, and support for Trump’s agenda. However, Democrats David Scott and Hank Johnson criticized it as harmful, citing Medicaid cuts, reduced food stamp benefits, and risks to rural hospitals. State Rep. Jasmine Clark, running for Congress, also condemned the bill, warning it would hurt south Gwinnett residents by stripping health insurance and food assistance. The bill has sparked sharp partisan debate over its impact on Americans. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. The shop invites the community to join in celebrating its success. The deal also involves the Nets, Warriors, Hawks, Lakers, and Timberwolves. Durant joins a strong Rockets team alongside Alperen Sengun and Fred VanVleet. The Suns acquired Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and multiple draft picks, while the Nets, Warriors, Lakers, Hawks, and Timberwolves received a mix of players, picks, and cash. Durant, a 15-time All-Star, averaged 26.6 points last season and is eligible for a two-year, $122 million extension. The trade reshapes rosters across the league. STORY 6: Gwinnett fire officials urge caution while grilling outdoors Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services is urging residents to prioritize safety while grilling this summer. Key tips include never leaving a lit grill unattended, especially around children, using propane and charcoal grills only outdoors, ensuring the grill is away from homes, deck railings, and branches, and cleaning grills after each use to remove grease buildup. The Atlanta Braves find themselves in yet another tailspin after being swept at home by the Baltimore Orioles, but this bender might just spell the end of their hopes of turning their season around with ample time to dig out of the hole they find themselves in. Grant McAuley discusses yet another challenging week as the series losses are once again piling up for the Braves. Not only are the losses mounting on the field, but Spencer Schwellenbach followed Chris Sale to the 60-day injured list, leaving Atlanta devoid of enough capable starters to field a rotation -- something that had been a strength for the club. Add that to the continued offensive struggles and the Braves are once again sinking in the standings and unable to put together enough offense to win consistently. Nick Green of FanDuel Sports joins the show to discuss the woes of the Atlanta lineup, how it went from one of the best in baseball to one of the worst in under two years, whether or not a new hitting coach with a new message and new philosophy was the right call, and what, if anything the club can do to once again reach its potential. (28:19). We'll also take a trip around the big leagues for some history making moments from the week that was for Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh and Dodgers great Clayton Kershaw, run down the National and American League rosters for the All-Star Game, and have a visit with Melanie Newman of the Baltimore broadcast team (57:38). On Wednesday night, Clayton Kershaw made baseball history, becoming only the 20th pitcher in MLB history to reach the 3,000 career strikeout mark. The future Hall of Famer entered the night three strikeouts away from the milestone, and he reached the plateau in front of his family and the Los Angeles Dodgers' faithful fans.Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss the historical significance of this achievement by Kershaw and why it always felt inevitable that he would reach the mark. They also debate whether Gerrit Cole, Chris Sale or any other active starter might ever reach 3,000 strikeouts or if this could be the last time we see it happen in the game. Also on this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake and Jordan react to the starting lineups for the American and National League All-Star teams, discuss the New York Yankees' continued struggles that now see them tied atop the AL East with the Toronto Blue Jays and answer some of your mailbag questions. Carl and Mike open up the show with some Braves talk as they react to their win over the Angels in the return of Jurickson Profar who went 2-4 with a solo homerun. And while they agree it was good to see them get the win, they share thoughts on whether the Braves can win enough throughout the rest of the season and even if they can, with their starting pitching taking a hit with losses of Spencer Schwellenbach and Chris Sale, who both hit the IL.
Carl and Mike get back into some Braves talk and share more thoughts on how well the lineup played with the return of Jurickson Profar, however as the offense showed what they are capable of in their 8-3 win over the Angels, Carl and Mike agree starting pitching is still going to be Braves concern with both Chris Sale and Spence Schwellenbach on the IL.
Braves insider Grant McAuley joins Andy and Randy to discuss the Braves' return of Jurickson Profar, and why Didier Fuentes is still part of the plan.
Carl and Mike get back into Braves talk and share more thoughts on why they believe it is tough to believe they are a team which will be able to overcome their hitting struggles, only for matters to be worsened as they announced Spencer Schwellenbach heading to the IL just a few days after Chris Sale was placed on IL.
Carl and Mike are joined by Grant McAuley as they preview tonight's matchup with the Angels and how important the series is for the Braves.
Carl and Mike close out the show with final thoughts on the Braves and how they are now dealing with the fact Chris Sale is being placed on the 60-day IL and why his injury further proves the Braves should have spent big money on good pitchers you have to have.
The Atlanta Braves passed the mathematical halfway point over the weekend, but it was in the midst of yet another winnable series slipping through their collective fingers. Grant McAuley discusses the biggest stories and headlines from the week that was for the Braves, a week that saw them lose the momentum they'd worked so hard to build with head-to-head success against the formerly first place New York Mets by losing series to the Miami Marlins and Philadelphia Phillies. The offensive woes continue to plague the club, while both the starting rotation and bullpen are under more stress than ever to keep the Braves in games. Now seven games under .500 and staring at major deficits in both the division and Wild Card races, the Braves will attempt to make the most of their final two weeks before the All-Star break as they face the Los Angeles Angles, Baltimore Orioles, Athletics, and St. Louis Cardinals over the next 12 games. That stretch could ultimately determine what Atlanta's strategy will be for the trade deadline, because failing to win consistently may mean there's no point in bringing in reinforcements this season. Brad Rowland of Hammer Territory joins the show to discuss the Braves at the halfway marker, the loss of Chris Sale, the lost seasons thus far for Michael Harris and Ozzie Albies, and what needs to happen in July to allow Atlanta to pull the nose up on its season. Hear that discussion beginning at 29:20. In the trip around the big leagues, we cover the loss of Dave Parker, the field for the Home Run Derby, Ketel Marte's unfortunate trip to Chicago, and hear the voice of the Pitchcom device courtesy of SNY. And Sam Blum of The Athletic joins to preview the Angels and Braves series that begins on Tuesday. Hear that at 57:58. From The Diamond airs live on 92-9 The Game in Atlanta on Sundays throughout baseball season. You can also subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Every episode of the show and more great Braves coverage is available at FromTheDiamond.com.

Fantasy Baseball Live – June 22, 2025Microsoft TeamsSegments 1 and 2: Review the weekend gamesAdditional Topics1. A topic I forgot to bring up on Friday was the Raffy Devers trade. Not to be out done, Clarke Schmidt pitched seven no-hit innings on Saturday afternoon against the Orioles.3. Chris Sale hits the IL with a fractured bone in his ribcage. I didn't think last year was their year. Maybe this year is not. Who do they turn to for his starts?4. Jack Burger hits the IL with a left oblique strain.a. It sounds like Justin Foscue will get the call. Any interest?5. Adley Rutschman hits the IL and Tim's dream of a Sam Basallo call up is still on hold. I'm disappointed too.6.
