On Wednesday night, Clayton Kershaw made baseball history, becoming only the 20th pitcher in MLB history to reach the 3,000 career strikeout mark. The future Hall of Famer entered the night three strikeouts away from the milestone, and he reached the plateau in front of his family and the Los Angeles Dodgers' faithful fans.Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss the historical significance of this achievement by Kershaw and why it always felt inevitable that he would reach the mark. They also debate whether Gerrit Cole, Chris Sale or any other active starter might ever reach 3,000 strikeouts or if this could be the last time we see it happen in the game. Also on this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake and Jordan react to the starting lineups for the American and National League All-Star teams, discuss the New York Yankees' continued struggles that now see them tied atop the AL East with the Toronto Blue Jays and answer some of your mailbag questions. The guys then make their weekly picks for The Good, The Bad & The Uggla. Braves insider Grant McAuley joins Andy and Randy to discuss the Braves' return of Jurickson Profar, and why Didier Fuentes is still part of the plan.
The Atlanta Braves passed the mathematical halfway point over the weekend, but it was in the midst of yet another winnable series slipping through their collective fingers. Grant McAuley discusses the biggest stories and headlines from the week that was for the Braves, a week that saw them lose the momentum they'd worked so hard to build with head-to-head success against the formerly first place New York Mets by losing series to the Miami Marlins and Philadelphia Phillies. The offensive woes continue to plague the club, while both the starting rotation and bullpen are under more stress than ever to keep the Braves in games. Now seven games under .500 and staring at major deficits in both the division and Wild Card races, the Braves will attempt to make the most of their final two weeks before the All-Star break as they face the Los Angeles Angles, Baltimore Orioles, Athletics, and St. Louis Cardinals over the next 12 games. That stretch could ultimately determine what Atlanta's strategy will be for the trade deadline, because failing to win consistently may mean there's no point in bringing in reinforcements this season. Brad Rowland of Hammer Territory joins the show to discuss the Braves at the halfway marker, the loss of Chris Sale, the lost seasons thus far for Michael Harris and Ozzie Albies, and what needs to happen in July to allow Atlanta to pull the nose up on its season. Hear that discussion beginning at 29:20. In the trip around the big leagues, we cover the loss of Dave Parker, the field for the Home Run Derby, Ketel Marte's unfortunate trip to Chicago, and hear the voice of the Pitchcom device courtesy of SNY. And Sam Blum of The Athletic joins to preview the Angels and Braves series that begins on Tuesday. Hear that at 57:58. From The Diamond airs live on 92-9 The Game in Atlanta on Sundays throughout baseball season. You can also subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. The Braves are stumbling, and Buck Belue says it’s time to sound the alarm. Atlanta needs Chris Sale back sooner rather than later if they want to keep their postseason streak alive. With the Phillies up next, the pressure is on. Plus — don’t forget to vote for Ronald Acuña Jr. for the All-Star Game!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Jason Smith and Mike Harmon discuss why we need to appreciate Clayton Kershaw's next milestone because it may never be done again. Jason brings up how Chris Sale is over 2,500 strikeouts and could be next on the list but will need to pitch for a few more years at a high level. Mike brings up the fact that the other all-time milestones like 3,000 hits and others may also never be done again either.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

HR2 - Chris Sale's injury has made acquiring starting pitching priority No. 1 for Braves In hour two Mike Johnson, Beau Morgan, and Ali Mac continue to recap and react to the Atlanta Braves losing 4-0 to the New York Mets last night in the series finale of their four game series. Mike, Beau, and Ali also talk about how the Braves will really have an opportunity to sweep the Phillies this weekend if they can find a way to win the first game of their three game set tonight. Then, The Morning Shift crew continues hour two by spending some time with 92.9 The Game's own Braves insider and reporter, Grant McAuley! Beau, Mike, Ali, and Grant discuss if Grant thinks Didier Fuentes was tipping pitches in his last start against the Mets, the Braves needing to make a move for a starting pitcher, what Grant thinks the future holds for Didier Fuentes, Michael Harris needing a day to try and reset his bat, but the Braves not being in position to bench him because his glove is so good, the importance of this weekend series against the Phillies, and Matt Olson getting back on track after a slow start to the season. Mike, Beau, and Ali also continue to talk about how they're broadcasting live from the infield of EchoPark Speedway, and explain why they think Ronald Acuña Jr. and Chris Sale should undoubtedly be All-Stars this year. Finally, The Morning Shift crew closes out hour two by playing a round of Fair or Foul!

He pitched six perfect innings on Friday night before allowing a hit and then his first run. Unbelievable.a. Not to be out done, Clarke Schmidt pitched seven no-hit innings on Saturday afternoon against the Orioles.3. Chris Sale hits the IL with a fractured bone in his ribcage. I didn't think last year was their year. Maybe this year is not. Who do they turn to for his starts?4. Jack Burger hits the IL with a left oblique strain.a. It sounds like Justin Foscue will get the call. Any interest?5. Adley Rutschman hits the IL and Tim's dream of a Sam Basallo call up is still on hold. I'm disappointed too.6. The Atlanta Braves took a significant step toward turning their season around by sweeping the New York Mets only to stumble in a series loss to the Miami Marlins over the weekend and receive crushing injury news on ace Chris Sale. With another showdown with the Mets beginning Monday and a series with the Philadelphia Phillies to follow, can the Braves rise to the occasion? Grant McAuley discusses the week that was and the pivotal week ahead, Sale's injury prognosis, and where the rotation goes from here. Meanwhile, Ronald Acuña Jr.'s transcendent play has not been enough to spark an Atlanta lineup with too many holes. Can Jurickson Profar's return help turn things around? The Braves bullpen is still a work in progress, but has been through its fair share of challenges in 2025. Relievers Pierce Johnson and Dylan Dodd share some insights in this week's conversations from the clubhouse. We'll also take a trip around the big leagues to cover some heat between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres. Chris Cotillo of MassLive joins to unpack the saga which led the Red Sox to trade slugger Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants.
