Like a lot of you, I was moved by the passing of film director David Lynch this past January. Much more than I thought I would be, to be honest. A lot of it had to do with the timing. He was such a part of Los Angeles. He made movies set here. He did a daily weather report. He talked at length about how much he loved the light, the feeling of Old Hollywood, the smell of night-blooming jasmine, and he left as the city was on literally burning down around us. On top of that, we were four days away from a new president who is the embodiment of everything Lynch is not. It was like Dale Cooper died four days before Bob become President. Everywhere you turned on the news there was another scumbag asshole winning the lottery, and just when things could not get worse, reality said, “Wait! I got one more!” While struggling to fight the fires, with thousands of people in the Pacific Palisades and Altadena losing everything the city was now mourning its coolest resident. And if you don't live here I really cannot understate what a presence he is. There is a rotating sculpture of his head in head in Santa Monica. People gathered at the Bob's Big Boy in Toluca Lake where he used to go for coffee and a chocolate shake every day at 2:00 PM. The gathered at Jumbo's Clown Room, the Hollywood Boulevard strip club where he, as legend has it, he wrote Blue Velvet. Every sidewalk sandwich board in town bore a chalk drawing of his iconic quiff. So, as I began the next podcast, I figured I would dedicate the True Tales From Weirdsville segment to Mr. Lynch. But it quickly became apparent that it was way too much story for just one segment and it eventually stretched over three episodes. And so, for your listening pleasure, we stitched ‘em together, and here they are. Enjoy. https://www.DanaGould.com

“It's time for Jerome Powell to put on his big boy pants and say, no, inflation is not the bigger problem,” says Danielle DiMartino Booth, CEO and Chief Strategist for QI Research. In today's interview with Daniela Cambone, Booth argues that the Fed should prioritize employment, as true inflation is low and declining—especially in housing—while job losses continue and consumer purchasing power weakens. “Companies are saying in no uncertain terms, they don't have pricing power because U.S. consumers don't have purchasing power." On Trump's tax bill, she aligns with Elon Musk, warning that it will increase the deficit and national debt. “This gravy train was supposed to end at the end of 2025… you're not stimulating the US economy. You're simply preventing a negative shock to the system,” she concludes. This week Nathan, Gita, and Riley briefly talk about their true passion, shirts, before elegantly segueing into a conversation about Ubisoft's extremely eventful week: The embattled publisher announced that it's spinning off its most successful series, including Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six, into a separate subsidiary thanks to a $1.25 billion investment from Chinese conglomerate Tencent. What does this mean for those remaining aboard the Ubisoft mothership? And will this lead to even more heads rolling following layoffs and studio closures in December? Then we move on to the AI abomination of the week: an image filter based on the works of Studio Ghibli, whose most famous creative, Hayao Miyazaki, once called AI “an insult to life itself.” After that, we give our final appraisal of Severance season two, which was not perfect, but which managed to hit some impressive high notes and benefited from largely focusing on characters over mystery box shenanigans. Gita doesn't love Ben Stiller's directorial style, and Riley doesn't think Severance is necessarily a Smart Show, but those things don't prevent it from being good, if that makes sense. If it doesn't, listen to the episode! Finally, we come up with a simple solution to the problem of mass media illiteracy: change all of society. Seems like something we can knock out in a day or two, so let's get cracking.Credits- Hosts: Nathan Grayson, Gita Jackson, & Riley MacLeod- Podcast Production & Ads: Multitude- Subscribe to Aftermath!About The ShowAftermath Hours is the flagship podcast of Aftermath, a worker-owned, subscription-based website covering video games, the internet, and everything that comes after from journalists who previously worked at Kotaku, Vice, and The Washington Post. Titties McSmokes-A-Lot rocks a vintage Pistons jersey, fights cramps with Xanax, blunts, and vodka (Queen Liz approved!), while Kid's drooling over her “juggernauts” in this episode of The Goin' Deep Show. Gdub calls out an Essexville rap wannabe hustling weed and guns—street cred in a beet field, really? Kid confesses a toe infection (gross, dude), and Big Boy's Marge dishes life advice with horse teeth and a coleslaw fetish. Whipped cream's a go, but zucchini up the cooche? Nope—pussy's a full meal, says Kid, who'd broadcast from down there. Titties roasts bad muff divers, Gdub's a cunnilingus champ, and Friday's tequila-fueled boob bash looms. (Retro Rewind Edition–May 2007) Detailed Breakdown The Crew Assembles: Kid's running the circus, Gdub's dropping bombs, The MAP's flexing martial arts vibes, and our star guest Titties McSmokes-A-Lot (who's totally over that name) rolls in wearing a tight-ass Pistons jersey—Dennis Rodman style. Tits out, cramps incoming, it's a late-night shitshow! Cramp Cure Chaos: Titties is prepping for Aunt Flo with a Granny-approved cocktail: Xanax, a blunt, and vodka. Queen Elizabeth smoked weed for cramps, so we're basically royalty here. Call the listener line at 206-202-3337 to tell us how classy we are—or how much we suck. Fashion Flashback: Last time, Titties hid her “pistons” under camo, but tonight's jersey's old as hell and tight as fuck—Kid's drooling, Gdub's blurry from a 3 PM booze start, and The MAP's just happy to be here. Juggernaut status confirmed! Essexville Rap Star Bust: Gdub spills the tea on a local “rap star” (Aaron Barber, aka A-Bar) from THC Hustlers, nabbed for weed, guns, and felony vibes in Essexville. Street cred in a sugar beet town? He's rapping about pool envy and sirloin woes—Dr. Seuss-level bars. Yeast Infection Confessions: Kid's airing dirty laundry—his toe's got a yeast infection, courtesy of funky Mexican genes and a toe-digging fungus. No more ass-kicking his wife ‘til the fart sparks clear up. Titties wisely advises keeping toes outta dark places. Big Boy Chronicles: Gdub's Big Boy obsession drops a gem: a lifelong waitress (hey, Marge!) dishes career advice like “shave for Florida,” rocking horse teeth and a coleslaw-masturbating rap sheet. Kid's been there, managed bitches, and survived the hate. Food Foreplay Fails: Whipped cream on titties? Yes. Frank's Red Hot? Hell yeah. Zucchini dildos? Hard pass—nobody wants that infection. Pussy's a meal, not a snack, and Kid's ready to broadcast from the crotch buffet all damn night. Sex Ed Disasters: Titties calls out dudes who suck at going down—wrong direction, no communication, total pizza-level flops. Gdub's batting 1000, but half-handjob teases and fake lockjaw? Evil women strike again—science demands a grant! Booze & Boobs Preview: Vodka's flowing (Absolut and Three Olives Cherry), but Friday's the real party—boobs, vagijays, and a tattooed twat if Red gets her tequila bribe. Titties' trashed tales (Jose Cuervo sombrero swaps) and Kid's Gatorade-booze puke scare set the tone. Fart Finale: Gdub rips ass, sealing the deal—time to wrap this clusterfuck. Rick also attempts to teach us about diversity. We meet Ran and get the Sword of Summer (which has yet to begin speaking). We find out who Big Boy is, and deep dive a little on Utgard-Loki. It's the our last February episode and thank god for that. Your girls were a leeeeeettle distracted this week, and conversations ranged a lot of new and interesting places, like our relationships with our mothers, the identity of the NHL commissioner and our new concept of a private figging stable for boys. But we did manage to buckle down and get to a really fun week in wrestling. Hangman and MJF put on a MASTERCLASS, and we attack their promo like the english lit nerds that we are. Plus, Toni's champ again to some of the pod's surprise, Harley's inspired Allie to make herself a puppet, and Will Ospreay and Adam Cole are NOT thrilled Orange Cassidy's back.
