Unless you have been living under a rock, most of us in the deer hunting community have heard of the Quality Deer Management Association. If you have ever listened to the content coming out of the Sportsmen's Nation, you have most likely heard of the National Deer Alliance and their CEO, Nick Pinizzotto on our platform to talk about whitetails and conservation efforts in North America. On this episode of the Nine Finger Chronicles, Dan is once again joined by Nick as he talks about the recent merger between the National Deer Alliance and the QDMA. Currently this new organization does not have a name. Nick talks about where the idea for the merger came from, their new mission, their short and long term plans, as well as if the COVID-19 virus played a role in the merger.Nick also answers questions pertaining to the QDMA's current employees, volunteers, and chapters, and breaks down his ideas on fundraising and the continuation of the QDMA local chapters. He explains that any and all conservation projects that are currently in the pipeline are still a go and expresses how excited he is to get back to work in this newly created organization. Nick Otto, host of The Huntavore podcast of the Sportsmen's Nation network. Nick hosts this episode and interviews Greg and I about our charter boat and fishing in the U.P. We trade stories about tough times on rough water. How under rated pike and lake trout are to eat. We share some of our favorite recipes and what to cook up when you want to impress friends, family or a significant other.
On this episode, Dan talks with fellow Sportsmen's Nation content provider Parker Mc Donald of Souther Ground Hunting Podcasts about a variety of hunting related topics. The two discuss hunting in the south compared to the rest of the country as well as how his father played a huge role in his life regarding the outdoors. Then they quickly discuss high fence hunting and Parker's experience with it growing with it up in the south. They both agree that hunting is not about the antlers on the head but more about the experiences we can share with our loved one and out fellow hunters. We also touch on CWD and talk about how science and research will give us the answers we need to someday form an accurate opinion. Lastly, we talk about Parker's tattoos. I'll be honest, I love talking to this dude, as I feel he is a great representative of the hunting community. This my friends, is a first class BS Session.

When you walk into your local bait shop or Bass Pro you'll find that there are aisles full of the latest and greatest sonar technologies, GPS, lures, rods and all sorts of things. You may think you have to spend a pretty penny to put more fish in the boat. Not always the case though. Social media platforms and online forums have become an anglers digital bait shop it seems. Not to mention blogs and podcasts, like this one, seem to share ideas that will keep you sharp and informed all season. Joining or even starting a Facebook group or forum is a great way to get conversations going to help build a community of anglers catch more fish on their local bodies of water. Becoming part of online communities may help you for a plan on how you fish your local body of waters and can help save on time and money. Take for instance one of my favorite online groups that is helping me boat more fish, Metro Detroit Walleye Stalkers. I am joined on today's podcast by Wes Smith, who is the owner and group administrator. I firmly believe some of the questions, ideas and dialog's conducted on well run groups like the Stalkers have more value than one would think. It is important however to make sure you find the right online page or group that is right for you. On this episode I ask Wes what it takes to have a successful online Facebook group. We also talk about the fall walleye bite happening right now, techniques to catch those fish and Wes's unique boat of choice he fishes out of. Wes and I had a great conversation and is one you'll notice has the best price tag of all............FREE! Links: Click here to follow Wes Smith on Instagram.
