Welcome back to another episode of the Generations of Hunt podcast, where we dive into the bucking truth of hunting and outdoor adventures. I'm joined by my co-host, Matt, and we kick things off by discussing the recent weather changes and how it's the perfect time to start hiking for sheds. We share some personal anecdotes about the brutal cold and the excitement of finding sheds. We then transition into a discussion about deer holding their antlers longer due to a second rut and the impact of a mild winter. Matt shares his buddy's theory on this, and we debate the scientific evidence behind it. We also touch on the importance of starting early to find sheds before the state land gets crowded with people and their dogs.Next, we delve into the recent Team USA ice fishing tournament held in Michigan, where the US team disappointingly placed sixth. We joke about the challenges of releasing fish from the ice and the potential of making ice fishing an Olympic sport. The conversation takes an interesting turn as we discuss survival shows. We ponder whether we would participate in one and share our thoughts on the mental and physical challenges involved. We also talk about the strategies and hardships faced by contestants on shows like "Alone" and "Survivor."We then shift gears to discuss the National Deer Association's findings on the distance between shed antlers. According to their research, 56% of match sets are found within 10 yards of each other, which is a fascinating insight for shed hunters. Our discussion moves to the impact of weather on deer movement, referencing a new MSU Deer Lab study. We debate the effectiveness of hunting apps and the importance of actual deer sightings over predictive models. We also touch on the controversy surrounding new solar panel projects in Michigan, particularly in Gaylord. We discuss the role of organizations like BHA in pausing these projects and the potential impact on public lands. Finally, we dive into the topic of antler point restrictions (APRs) and their effectiveness in encouraging hunters to shoot more does. We reference another MSU study that suggests APRs do not significantly impact doe harvest rates.

Debbie recommends either rebuilding the banquette to provide a deeper seat or removing it altogether and incorporating a standalone table and chairs, allowing for greater flexibility in the space. For the table, she suggests considering an oval design, which can enhance movement around the area and better accommodate the flow of your kitchen. Debbie also addresses your lighting concerns, recommending that you either center the existing fixture or consider using a ceiling medallion to create a polished look while covering any patch jobs. Ultimately, Debbie encourages you to trust your instincts and make the changes that best suit your comfort and style, ensuring that the space serves your needs. In this episode, we discuss the good ole days of burying trucks in the mud and all of our wasted money spent just to do it again. Geese are starting to move around, the fellas are knocking the dust off the shotguns, and we're getting fired up about early season. We went from drought to flooding, so this season could be interesting, but we're looking forward to whatever mother nature throws at us.

In today's episode, Alex Comstock and Jeremy Lopez are joined by Shane Indrebo. Shane is part-owner and operator of the North American Shed Hunting Club and son of Tom Indrebo. He was born and raised in Buffalo County, WI, and was immediately immersed in hunting big deer. Shane quickly fell in love with finding big antlers and telling the story behind each one. He's a talented photographer and videographer who has filmed hunts for Pat and Nicole Reeve of The Driven Hunter. Local area hunters flock to the Indrebo farm for Shane's top-notch harvest photos and scoring antlers. The guys dive into what it was like growing up in Buffalo County, how finding antlers became Shane's passion, shed hunting tips, how the North American Shed Hunting Club came to fruition, what goes into salvaging and replicating sheds, deer photography, tips for taking better harvest photos, and much more. Shane is insanely talented. Through hard work and determination to be the best, Shane has successfully grown multiple businesses around his passion for giant bucks. If you're curious about what some of your shed antlers would score, head over to NASHC website and schedule an official to score your sheds.
