I've prepared 4 simplified versions of the first paragraph of the first chapter of Le Petit Prince. The first four versions are to help prepare you for the fifth version which is in its full form. This story is for Advanced Beginners (A1 - about 50 hours of French) but still accessible for every level. This story is for Advanced Beginners (A1 - about 50 hours of French). "L'arrestation d'Arsène Lupin" is a short piece of detective fiction written by Maurice Leblanc and stars Arsène Lupin, the gentleman-thief. This story is about the gentleman-thief Lupin. He is hiding on the liner La Provence sailing from France to New York. The passagers are enjoying being on the ship, away from the world. Their ship is like a little island. When a telegraph arrives announcing that Arsène Lupin is hiding on the boat, the atmosphere become suddenly different. The passagers are anxious, they wait for Arsène Lupin to be caught, they wait for the ship to arrive. Some of the passagers though are trying to find Lupin conducting their own investigation.
