Hey everyone its Kris from the 24 Under Review podcast, in this podcast we will cover every Avs game with a podcast the night after the game, we will also have mothly stats updates.
Today we took on the Columbus Blue Jackets, who are not only last in the NHL, but have never won in regulation against the Avs are coming off of a 4-0 win against the Northwest division leading Edmonton Oilers. The Avs on the other hand, come into this game 20-0-2 against the Blue Jackets, lead the division in goals for, and are tied for last in the division, although they are only 4 points out of being tied for first. Today was the first time that the avs have lost to the Blue Jackets in regulation, with a 3-0 loss. Once again, the Avs lost, and once again the avs had more than 40 shots, my apologies, last podcast I mentioned that the Avs have never lost when they have had more than 40 shots, but they are now 7-1 with more than 40 shots. The Avs are now below 500, with a record of 12-13-2. We ask that all listeners on this feed please subscribe to the feed found on www.AVScast.com, as this feed will stop updating on December 10th
Today we took on the Vancouver Canucks, who we beat last Saturday by a score of 4-1, today was basically the opposite, the Avs lost 2-1. The Avs crossed the dreaded 40 shot line, which every time they have done they have lost, and today was no different. The Avs are now last in Northwest, with a record of 12-12-2. Luongo, The Canucks goalie, got his first win against the Avs, and is now 1-7 against the Avs. All listeners of this feed are asked to subscribe to the feed found on www.AVScast.com, as this feed will stop updating on December 10th, 2006, Thanks in advance. Enjoy.
Today we took on the Division leading Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers came into this game leading the Avs, who, coming into this game were tied with the Flames for last place with 24 points, by 4 points, with 2. In this game alone Svatos got two points, Sakic got 2, Liles got 3, Klee got 3, and Arnason, with perhaps the most important few points got 3 of them. The last time we played Edmonton was at home when we lost to them 2-1. Today we beat them 7-3. He Avs only gave the the Oilers one power play, I guess Coach Quinevilles speech after the last game, in which they left up 3 well, basically four penalty kill goals, got to them. The Avs were going at about ¼ goals/shots ratio, getting 8 goals on their 27 shots. This was the first time we beat the Oilers this season, and it was also the most high scoring game for the Avs, with 7 goals. We ask that all users on this feed please subscribe to the feed on www.AVScast.com, as this feed will stop updating on December 1oth, 2006. Thanks.
Today we took on the Calgary Flames, who, coming into this game were in last place in the Northwestern Division. Today the Avs, for the first time in the last 8 games, allowed a goal before they got one. The Flames Goalie, Miikka Kiprusoff, came into this game only allowing 3 goals in his last 5 games. This was probably one of the most disappointing games of the season for the Avs, losing 5-2. Joe Sakic’s assist moved him up to 13th place in all time for career assists, with 930, and is only 4 out of 12th place. I did notice that in the last episode I mentioned we have a 4 game in division streak after the last game, it was actually a 4 game in division streak including that game, just wanted to get that sorted out, not that its anything amazing. Enjoy.
Today we took on our Northwestern division rivals the Vancouver Canucks. We beat them 4-1, and now pole vault into the third position in the northwest, in second place behind the Wild and the Oilers, both of which are tied for first with 27, and trailed by the Avs, who have 24 points. Wolski got a point on all of the 4 goals, to get a team high 4 points in a game. The Avs next four games are in division, so the next week will be very important. Enjoy. We ask that all listeners on this feed please transfer to the normal AVScast feed at www.AVScast.com
Today we took on the Anaheim Ducks, who swept us last year during the playoffs, and currently lead the Western Conference and are tied with the Sabres for first in the NHL.. Today the Avs beat the Ducks 3-2 in the shootout, although for the entire first period, and most of the second they held a 2-0 lead. If you remember back to two games ago, against the Minnesota Wild, we went to the shootout, and we also did today. The Avs Have won every shootout this year, including the preseason, and considering that we have lost every game that was finished in overtime, I was hoping we got to the shootout. Anaheim was 2-4 before this shootout, and they are now 2-5. Enjoy
Today we took on the Dallas Stars, who we crushed last playoffs 4-1 in the first round, to knock them out. The stars have had 9 goal in the last 2 games, and they almost exceeded that 2 game average by getting 5 goals, to beat the Avs 4 goals. This was the Avs 3rd and final game of their road trip. The two last games have been wins, this is a trip reminiscent to our Canadian trip, in which we won the first game by 3 goals, the second game by 1, and we lost the 3rd game, which was very high scoring, this was no different, other than a few of the scored.
The Wild are 8-1, well, now 8-1-1 at home, and have the number one penalty kill in the NHL. The Wild also were handed their first overtime shootout loss of the season. The Wild are also number one in the Northwestern Conference. The Avs beat the Wild 2-1 in the shootout, with a Sakic’s first shootout goal of his career being the game winner. The Avs are 9-9-2, trailing the division leading Wild by only 5 points, and we hold the 3rd place in the division, tied with Calgary. Enjoy.
Welcome to AVScast Episode 31. Today we took on the Columbus Blue Jackets, who are last place in the NHL, with only 11 points. We were 19-0-2 against the Blue Jackets since their creation, and today we made it 20-0-2. We have some bad news that will effect every podcast from this one forward. We have been contacted by the NHL and have been asked to remove NHL Accredited from our site, apparently the Media Guide did not explain it correctly, and mislead us to think we were accredited, although we weren’t. No, thats not the worst news, we also have to stop using the live recordings because the infringe on NHL copyrights. You can still get them on Google Video, which we will explain later in the podcast. I find it odd considering the NHL encourages you to make your own content using those videos and then upload it to Google Video, but they asked me to stop, so I will. Well, we do have some good news, the Avs won 3-0, in thier first shutout win, snapping their 4 game loosing streak. Our apologies, the live podcast tomorrow is at 4:30MST, not 5:30MST as mentioned in the podcast. Enjoy.
Today the Avs took on the San Jose Sharks for the first time of the season. We lost to them 4-3, on two San Jose power play goals midway through the 3rd period. For the 5th (I’m pretty sure that’s the right number) time the Avs got more than 40 shots, they lost. They are on their fist 4 game losing streak since 2002, and every game they have lost on the streak have been 1 goal games. We apologies for the delay on getting the episode out and that there are no recordings because the AVScast crew was at the game. Enjoy.
Today we took on Northwest Division Rivals the Edmonton Oilers in our 500th home game. We lost to them 2-1, both of their goals coming from Ryan Smyth, who needed to be carried to the locker room at the end of the game. The Avs continued their power play goal drought, not getting a power play goal this game, just like last game when we went 0 for 6. The Avs really need to pick up on the power play, anything is better than how its going right now. You know you need to reconsider your power play plan when you are getting scored on when you are on the power play. We now leave the Calgary Flames as the sole holders of the last place position in the Northwest Division. Today Patrick Roy, who holds the record for most regular season wins, and won 2 Stanley Cups with the Avs, was inducted into the hall of fame.
Today the Avs took on the Nashville Predators, in the Predators 5th home game of the season. The Avs lost 1-0, making their record 7-7-2, back down to the dreaded .500. Nashville scored on a long shot from the blue line to make the score 1-0. The Avs will face the Edmonton Oilers on Monday, the 13th. Check out our forums at http://z10.invisionfree.com/AVScast_Forum. Enjoy.
The Avs took o the 4-6-3 Los Angeles Kings for the second of four times this season and lost by a heart-breaking score of 6-5. The Avs had a good comeback run, but was destroyed by a Los Angeles goal midway through the third period. The Avs will play the Nashville Predators who are leading their Division. The Avs are still in 3rd place in the Northwest Division with 16 points, and trail Vancouver by only 1 point, and Minnesota by 3 points. Visit the forums at http://z10.invisionfree.com/AVScast_Forum. In Todays game against the Vancouver Canucks we had a come from behind victory. Vancouver scored late in the first to give them a 1-0 lead going into the locker room. Just over a minute and a half into the 2nd the Avs struck back. Brunettes mid third period goal turned out to be the game winner. The Avs moved into second place in the Northwest Division with a 3-2 win against the Canucks. Please check out the Forums, which can be found at http://www.z10.invisionfree.com/AVScast_Forum. Enjoy.

The Avs faced the struggling St. Louis Blues today, and against my prediction (as stated on the October Review podcast) they lost, and no, it wasn’t a close score, like 3-4, no, it was a blow out, 4-1. It was shocking that we lost, we did have out fair share of chances, getting over 45 shots, by Legace just had an answer for every one. The Blues are now 4-5-3 (11 points), and the Avs (6-5-2, 14 points) remain tied with Edmonton. Hopefully we can beat Vancouver on Saturday, to give us the boost we need. Check out the Forums at www.z10.invisionfree.com/AVScast_Forum. Enjoy.
This first episode of AVScast’s brand new (well, we told you we would have it in the AVScast Pilot, but this is the first actual episode) series month review (we know its bad, but we can think of anything better) we give the listeners in a depth review of all of October, from the standings around the NHL to how many penalty minutes Joe Sakic has (2 minutes). Please recall that this was recorded on November 1st before the game, and all of the stats, and other information are as of November 1st at 6:05AM. Enjoy.
Today the Avs took on the Columbus Blue Jackets (3-6-1), and beat them 5-3. The Avs had an amazing game, preventing goals on both a 5-on-3, and a 6-on-3. Brad Richardson had a #1 play of the week worthy goal that just blew my mind how he did it. The Avs are now tied for third place in the division with 15 points. Our next game is against the Blue, who a not doing very good this season. The AVScast is now NHL Accredited, and we hope to do a few podcasts live from the games. TalkShoe live podcast on Friday at 6PM MST, please join in, find the information in the AVScast Live Section and on the AVScast Homepage. Enjoy.
Today the Avs took on 9-1, Northwest division leader, the Minnesota Wild, and beat them 4-1. Lapierriere got his 100th goal of his career, and Hejduk got his fourth goal in only two games. The Avs are now 5-4-2, with 12 points. The show notes site crashed, and we are working to get it back up and running, so it should be working by the next podcast (October Under Review). Please check out the forums at www.z10.invisionfree.com/AVScast_Forum.
In todays game (the first time Washington has come to Colorado since December 8, 2003, Avs won 4-1) the Washington Caps had a pretty good game, winning 5-3. The score doesn’t tell the story as well as you might think. The Avs could have easily one if one or two (trust me, there were more than enough chances) of their 48 shots had made it past the goalie, we would have won, it just wasn’t our night tonight. Check out the show notes at www.geocities.com/udtmnshownotes/AVScast. The forums can be found by copying and pasting the link in the podcast description or in the show notes.
Today the Avs decimated the Los Angeles Kings, an once Av Rob Blake. The Avs won by a score of 6-1, scoring 5 of the goals in the second period. Hejduk got a goal using his face, although it was not the game winner (Hejduk did get the game winner also) it was a pretty nice goal. The Avs managed to lose their 3-0 lead late in the first, and lost by a sickening score of 8-5. The Avs at least had a good record on the road, going 2-1. The Avs have their next game on the 23rd, against the Los Angeles Kings, with good ‘ol Rob Blake. We are now 3-3-2, and have 8 points. The widget has been submitted to Apple, and we do not have the URL yet, but we will post it on the site. Please visit the AVScast Forums at www.z10.invisionfree.com/AVScast_Forum. Today the Avs beat the Senators 2-1, in their second game of the three game Canadian road trip. Joe Sakic got the the first goal, which was followed by a shorthanded goal by Richardson. The Sens are 0-4 at home, and are last in the NHL for goals for. We are 90% done with the Temporary AVScast Widget. Today the Avs took on one of the six original teams of the NHL, the Toronto Maple Leafs. We crushed the Maple Leafs by a score of 4-1. Liles got two goals, both the game winner and the third goal. The Avs play their next game tonight, against the Ottawa Senators, at the early time of 5:30PM. We are almost done with the widget, and it should be out by tonight episode, but their is a slight chance it will take until the Montreal game (Saturday the 21st). The Avs lost to the Chicago Blackhawks by a score of 5-3. It was the first time that the Blackhawks beat the Avs when we were at home since the 2001-2002 season. The Avs are now 1-2-2, with a mere 4 points. We are currently developing a Dashboard Widget for Mac OS X 10.4 users. Please check out the show notes at www.geocities.com/udtmnshownotes. In todays match-up against the Oilers, the Avs lost 4-3. The Avs lost the game in the first half of the third period, a turbulent time in which the Oilers scored twice. There are NO audio recordings, listen to the podcast for an explanation, because it it to long to put in the podcast info. We are in desperate need of feedback, feedback@AVScast.com. In todays game against the Minnesota Wild, the Avs had the opposite of yesterday, they had to come back from 2-0 deficit, and they did. They Avs went on to lose in the overtime period, as they did yesterday, the Avs are now 0-0-2, with 2 points. The Avs took the early lead, up 2-0 until 1 minute into the third period, when Dallas scored 2 goals within 30 seconds. On Friday, September 29th, 2-year Colorado Av Steve Konowalchuk (#22) announced that he will retire. This comes after an abnormal pre-training camp EKG showed abnormalities. This was later confirmed to be Long QT Syndrome, a genetic disease. There is also a player on the Detroit Red Wings that had this same disease. If your think back to last year a player had a heart attack while on the bench at a game, Long QT is suspected to be the culprit. Visit our forums http://www.z10.invisionfree.com/AVScast_Forum. The show notes are at http://www.geocities.com/udtmnshownotes (we did upgrade the eye candy-ness of them this morning.) Please give us feedback at feedback@AVScast.com
