Valenti and Rico kicked off today's show with their thoughts on Taylor Decker asking for his release + anxiously awaiting the 3:00 NHL Trade Deadline, wondering if Steve Yzerman was finally going to make a move. They had their prayers answered to begin the second hour, with the Red Wings trading for Defenseman Justin Faulk. The guys broke down this move throughout the rest of the show, mixing in some Pistons and more Taylor Decker talk.
In the first segment of the second hour, the guys got the news they were looking for: the Red Wings made a potentially significant trade. They broke down the move and how they're feeling about the team going forward. Then, they discussed whether they'd sign some risky NFL free agents to close the hour.
Valenti and Rico offered some more thoughts and heard from more of the people on the Red Wings trade throughout the first 2 segments of the hour. The guys played "Who Said It?" to round out the hour.
The people chimed in on today's topics for the final time today.
The guys continue their breakdown of the Red Wings' deadline acquisition + Taylor Decker's release. Plus, they touch on the Pistons after they got trounced by the Spurs last night.
Valenti and Rico take a few more of your calls reacting to the Red Wings' big deadline trade.
Jim "Paying Customer" Costa calls into the show to defend his own and Steve Yzerman's honor after the Red Wings traded for defenseman Justin Faulk.

Steve Yzerman made a move for defenceman Justin Faulk, and the guys react to it in real time.
The guys give their thoughts on the Red Wings making an insignificant move and begin taking your calls on both the Wings and Taylor Decker.

We answered your questions — on Michigan State basketball's win and escape against Rutgers and Tom Izzo's role in it, the looming matchup against Michigan, Jeremy Fears Jr. vs. Yaxel Lendeborg for Big Ten player of the Year, MSU's NCAA tournament seed and the Spartans' roster next season, on MSU hockey and women's basketball, the Pistons, Lions and Red Wings, what The Rube would say at Couch's funeral and more.
The Detroit Red Wings finally made their move at the NHL trade deadline. Steve Yzerman adds two key pieces for the playoff push — bringing back veteran winger David Perron and acquiring top-four defenseman Justin Faulk. Detroit sent: • A conditional 4th-round pick for Perron • A 1st-round pick, 3rd-round pick and Justin Holl to St. Louis for Faulk Perron returns to Detroit after previously playing with the Red Wings from 2022-2024, where he was one of the team's most respected locker-room leaders and a key offensive contributor. The 37-year-old winger should help Detroit's struggling five-on-five offense and bring playoff experience back into the lineup. Justin Faulk addresses one of Detroit's biggest needs — a right-shot top-four defenseman. Logging over 22 minutes a night, Faulk strengthens the second defensive pair, adds puck movement from the blue line, and provides valuable offensive production from the back end. In this episode of Red Wings Rant, we break down: • Why bringing Perron back makes sense for Detroit • How Faulk stabilizes the Red Wings defense • Whether Detroit overpaid for the upgrade • What this means for the final playoff push • Whether Yzerman might still make another move The Red Wings needed help. And now they finally have it. The Detroit Red Wings have done everything asked of them this season. They've responded to adversity. They've improved their penalty kill. They've stayed in the playoff race all year long. Now with the NHL trade deadline approaching, the pressure shifts to Steve Yzerman. Inspired by the latest analysis from Max Bultman, this episode of Red Wings Rant dives into why Detroit's front office needs to act before the deadline. The Red Wings blew a 3-1 third-period lead to the Vegas Golden Knights, losing 4-3 in overtime — a painful reminder that this team still has clear weaknesses. But those weaknesses have been obvious for months. Detroit needs: A playoff-ready right-side defenseman • More hard offense in the top six • Support for Moritz Seider on the blue line • Another scoring threat behind Lucas Raymond and Dylan Larkin The players have held up their end of the bargain. Now it's time for Yzerman to show belief in this locker room and give Detroit the boost it deserves for the final 20 games. We break down: Why this trade deadline matters more than last year's • The lingering impact of the quiet 2025 deadline • What Lucas Raymond and the locker room are signaling • Why standing pat could hurt momentum again • The realistic types of players Detroit should target The Red Wings look ready to turn the corner. But if they're going to snap the playoff drought, they need one more push. And that push has to come from Steve Yzerman. #LGRW #DetroitRedWings #NHLPlayoffs #AtlanticDivision #MaxBultman JOIN THE DISCORD: https://discord.gg/rd2RUDkzuS Let's have fun! The NHL trade deadline is today at 3pm
8:00 HOUR: Is more coming for the Red Wings today? Heather needs help finding a karaoke song
We are 1 hour away from the NHL Trade Deadline. The Penguins have yet to make a move. Will they? Is it a failure on the part of Kyle Dubas if they stand pat? Could a small move pay big dividends the way some of the others have for Dubas this season? We also reacted to the Evgeni Malkin play from last night that could end up in suspension and Sidney Crosby practicing today. Would you rather the Penguins make a splashy buy or a splashy sell? The guys are OK if a little deal is made. BREAKING: The Penguins have acquired Elmer Soderblom from the Red Wings for a 3rd round pick. Elmer is a massive human – 6'8, 252 pounds, but has just 3 points all season. Steelers insider Nick Farabaugh from Penn Live dot com joined the show for some Fair Game w/ Farabaugh. Nick doesn't expect us to know the answer to the QB question on Monday, but maybe by the end of next week. Who is dictating terms here? Nick said the Steelers probably won't offer Aaron Rodgers anything until he makes it clear that he wants to play. What will the contract look like for Malik Willis and is it too steep for the Steelers? Nick thinks Omar Khan and Mike McCarthy are in lockstep here and they want Rodgers back. Nick thinks the Steelers will add 2 WR in free agency and 2-3 in the draft. He expects them to make a signing ‘pretty early' into free agency on Monday, but doesn't expect it to be a ‘big' name right away. Nick thinks the WR on the trade market are likely too rich for the Steelers to make a play on. Jalen Tolbert is a name Nick mentioned – citing his ties to McCarthy from Dallas. Nick doesn't think the Steelers are going to be too aggressive in pursuit of Kenneth Walker, but expects them to be active in the secondary RB market.

The guys + Kenny gave their thoughts on the Red Wings about 24 hours ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline. They wondered if Steve Yzerman will make his big move that we've all been awaiting before breaking down some NFL news in an "In Football Today".

They debate whether Steve Yzerman will finally make a big move before transitioning to some Lions talk, centered around what the Bears' rumored plans are/if Brad Holmes has anything up his sleeve to counter them. The guys took your calls on both topics and then wrapped the show with their thoughts on the importance of tonight's Pistons-Spurs game.
