In hour 2 of The Drive, Zach and Phil react to the Avalanche’s top brass’ press conference today in Joe Sakic and Chris MacFarland. What was the tone of the Avs today as they addressed the media. How do the guys feel about the Avs letting go of special teams coach after how poor the Avs were on the power play? Will the Avalanche be a force next season with more continuity on the roster? Are we taking a championship window for granted? How involved was Joe Sakic in the Mikko Rantanen trade? We hear the answer directly from Sakic. What questions do the guys still have about the Broncos now that the draft and most of free agency is over? Will this be the Broncos best defense since their Super Bowl winning defense?

One more to go until the big games begin! The Edmonton Oilers come to town to faceoff against the Colorado Avalanche that, in the end, won't have much meaning in the standings, but could have a lot of meaning for other reasons. The Avs haven't been playing all that well lately. So how will they handle this game? Will they treat it like any other, go all out and get a winning mentality before the playoffs? Or will they work on specific aspects, make sure nobody gets injured, and see that as a win? We also discuss the ESPN documentary "Saving Sakic" that looks back at the time Harrison Ford saved Joe Sakic from moving to New York and playing with the Rangers. Tune in subscribe and enjoy! Anyone can call themselves a writer. But really strong, professional writers are far and few between. And not so easy to find. What separates the pros from the pretenders? Fluid, mistake-free writing is part of it. But that's mostly table stakes. The true differentiator is the professional writer's ability to write for a variety of audiences, on demand. Professional writers are also able to write about the same topic from a variety of angles, keeping the topic fresh and engaging all the while. Stella Sakic knows these attributes first hand. She's the founder and owner of SKA Media, a social media marketing agency. In this episode of The B2B Content Show, Stella describes her approach to writing for businesses, the importance of being able to write for multiple audiences, and how to write about the same topic without losing the reader's interest. If you're a writer or work with writers, this episode is a must listen! The B2B Content Show is brought to you by Connversa, offering Expert Interviewing as a Service to showcase your expertise, help you stand out from the crowd, and get prospects to know, like, and trust you.

A storied pro hockey career means, years later, you have a ton of stories to tell. And after crossing paths with Sakic, Sundin, Selanne, and Arbour, you can bet the stories have some star power. But Iain Fraser's story is really more like a lifetime of friendships forged with both teammates and opponents. These friendships continue to this day and just ask anyone about "Fraz" (I asked several people) and watch their face light up. "Smart player who played both ends of the ice so well" and "one of the toughest guys I ever played with, on and off the ice" were just a couple of the responses. Through all the stops over all the years, and after all the encounters with all the coaches, one of the biggest things OHL fans will remember is that Fraz captained the winning team during The Greatest Memorial Cup Ever.

Locked On Avalanche - Daily Podcast On The Colorado Avalanche
After a very long and busy Colorado Avalanche season we needed a little break and decided to take that break during free agency week of all things. But we're back and we can still talk about the moves the Avs made. On the ice and in the front office. Chris MacFarland has been around for all of this Avalanche success, he just doesn't get the recognition Joe Sakic does. It had been rumored Sakic would either retire or take a higher up job with the franchise if the Avs won the Cup, and that is exactly what happened. Sakic is no President of Hockey Operations and MacFarland removes the 'Assistant' from his title and is now the Avalanche GM. Don't expect much to change when it comes to how the Avs do business. Sakic and MacFarland have been working in unison for years and that will likely continue. MacFarland was a busy man in his first days on the job. The biggest moves were in signing three key free agents. Josh Manson (4 years $4.5 AAV), Artturi Lehkonen (5 years, $4.5 AAV) and the biggest one in Val Nichushkin (8 years, $6.125 AAV). The Avs are clearly trying to keep as much of this team together as possible. But one name from last year is still out there waiting for his deal, Nazem Kadri. The Avalanche are very much in the mix for their 2C and will have to move a current player to keep him. Could we see MacFarland pull off a trade that keeps the fan favorite in Denver? We will see. Chris and Kyle have a lot to talk about! Tune in and subscribe! BetOnline BetOnline.net has you covered this season with more props, odds and lines than ever before. Locked On Avalanche - Daily Podcast On The Colorado Avalanche
Joe Sakic met with Darcy Kuemper and his agent Wednesday. Many believed that was the beginning of negotiations that would eventually lead to the Stanley Cup winning goalie to come back to the Avs and continue to be their starting goalie. About 24 hours later, Sakic and the Avalanche announced a trade that sent three picks (3rd & 5th this year. 3rd next year) to the New York Rangers in exchange for Igor Shesterkin's backup, Alexander Georgiev. It's a risky move for the Avalanche considering they are heading into next season with two backup goalies that are going to be asked to take on more responsibility than they have ever been asked before. Are they up for the task? Chris and Kyle debate. We also need to throw out a congratulations to Joe Sakic for winning the Jim Gregory Award for the leagues best GM. A long overdue recognition. The final vote was oh so close, but Cale Makar beat our Nashville Predators Roman Josi as the leagues best defenseman to take home the Norris Trophy. Locked On Avalanche - Daily Podcast On The Colorado Avalanche
The votes must be in prior to the playoffs starting for all the NHL awards, and while Cale Makar is a finalist for the Norris Trophy, the vibe you get is that voters are favoring Roman Josi thanks to his 96 point season. And while votes can't be changed, have voters looked at what happened in round one between the Nashville Predators and Colorado Avalanche, and more specifically Roman Josi and Cale Makar and have that already impacting them for next season? We discuss. We have also gotten used to Joe Sakic and Jared Bednar getting snubbed for their respective awards. While we don't expect Jared Bednar to be a finalist for coach of the year, we are going full conspiracy theory mode if Joe Sakic is once again overlooked. We will find out soon. Finally, since we have had several days off thanks to the Avs sweep, we have had time to catch up on some shows. While Chris enjoyed the Ozark finale, he was left wanting more from the final scene, which leads us to our discussion on which shows had the best series endings ever.Tune in and subscribe!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. Many people consider Joe Sakic's best trade move as a GM to be when he gave two 2nd round picks to the Islanders in exchange for Devon Toews. So for him to be in attendance for the Islanders / Canadiens game, people raise an eyebrow thinking he could be zeroing in on another Islander. That remains to be seen, but the fact he was there tells you the man is ready to deal. Chris and Kyle take a look at both rosters and which players could potentially be on the Avs GM's radar. The guys also discuss the Avalanche game over the weekend against the Buffalo Sabres, and while it was not the best game for the Avs, they did manage a 5-3 win. Can we expect a different effort this afternoon against Boston? Does the afternoon start times have anything to do with how the Avs play?Tune in and subscribe!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar.
