Le monde entier s'esclaffe devant ce hasard parfait.Mais pour le principal intéressé, la blague tourne vite à l'angoisse. « Je recevais des dizaines d'appels, mon téléphone n'arrêtait pas de sonner. J'ai cru qu'un membre de ma famille était mort », raconte celui qui se fait aujourd'hui appeler Sam Struan. À l'époque, il ne connaît même pas Reddit et pense d'abord à une arnaque. Quand il comprend l'ampleur du buzz, c'est trop tard : les journalistes assiègent la boutique, les curieux appellent pour savoir si “Sam Sung travaille vraiment chez Apple”. L'entreprise, embarrassée, le met temporairement à l'écart et lui retire ses cartes de visite.« J'étais terrifié à l'idée de perdre mon emploi », se souvient-il. Le jeune vendeur finit par quitter Apple en 2013 pour se reconvertir dans le recrutement. Un an plus tard, il décide de tourner l'ironie à son avantage : il met sa fameuse carte de visite et son uniforme aux enchères.
