And yes, we did try to record this when we were in person but had technical difficulties.

Former Vancouver Canuck, Cory Schneider, joined Matt and Blake for a special Easter weekend special show. Talked about finally getting in with the Islanders. Had a rough start leading into covid. Things snowballed from there. Was feeling good about his game in the American League before he got called up in Jersey. Talked about signing with the Isles. It was a familiar option for him with Lou there. Going on a deep playoff run with the team reinvigorated him. Says he wasn't about playing in the AHL. A lot of people look down at it but he hadn't played in a year and a half. He just wanted to play games and prove to himself that he could still play. Talked about what he heard from other guys who had contemplated retirement. Was as nervous for his last start as he was when he broke into the league. Talked about how great it is for his family to see him play in the NHL again. Win or lose he is proud of himself to be back when people thought he wasn't going to play again. Not touting himself as an underdog. Cory talked about his living situation. Commuted from Jersey to Long Island all of last year. Talked about the accent and not having a BOS accent. Says the biggest factor is that his parents aren't originally from there. Talked about why he chose to go to Boston College. Education was very important to him. Hockey was a luxury for him. He needed to have good grades to be able to play. Cory talked about some of the players he played with who don't fit the natural hockey body style. Cory does not want to talk about his Beanpot record… would rather win a Frozen Four. Talked about breaking into Manitoba with the Moose. He felt ready for pro after three years of college. Would have loved to play a fourth year but saw the money that he didn't want to turn down. The team gave him the max, which caught him off-guard. Knew nothing about Winnipeg, even as an educated guy. Talked about Scott Arniel. Talked about the time he was called out by Arnie. Told him he wasn't ready for pro, from what he'd seen. Had kind of left him alone to that point. After that meeting, he started to play the best he had ever played. Says the reason he was still in the A was because he was a first round pick, otherwise would have been sent to the ECHL. Says they talk more as piers now, rather than a player-coach relationship. You can take those moment and it can go either way. Says it led him to the path he went on. Talked about how he felt after Lu signed a 12 year deal. Wasn't a fan of it at the start but all worked out. Talked about his relationship with Luongo. Very easy with Lu. Tough competitor. Says that Roberto quickly made it clear that he wouldn't be hard on him. Got to learn from two of the best goalies to ever play. Try's not to rehash what could have been. If you told him when he drafted that the career he had was what he would have, he would have said hell ya. Don't feel sorry for him, he is fine. Don't be sad for him. Be sad for what is going on in the world. Has never gotten to really know Bo Horvat, though he knows him well. The first couple years, the trade was working for both sides. Things change. No point in comparing himself to him. Says that Bo probably doesn't give a damn about the old guy in Jersey… Talked about being in the middle of the fascination that was who was going to start on any given night. Applauds the media in Vancouver for taking that story and making the most of it. Told Matt and Blake they are welcome… Found it funny because people kind of pick sides even though we all wanted the Canucks to win. Says that it was probably way harder on Roberto than him. Talked about what's next for him. Wants to think about what is best for his family. At what point does he say if he needs to grind it out for another year for his sake. Or is it time to put the family first. Not sure he wants to hang on to hang on. He isn't arrogant enough to think teams are lining up to sign him. Talked more about life after hockey. Says he wants to do media like Kevin and bullshit along like he has. He is comfortable with his strengths and connections to do whatever he wants to do. Blessed to be in a financial position that he doesn't have to work. Coaching seems like a very hard living. Likes the management side but doesn't know what he would consider in that route. Not very interested in stopping playing and going back to a team where he is away from his family. Can't keep up with Lu and his 15 fantasy lineups. Can't think the game like Hank and Danny. Sucks to miss daughters dance and son's t-ball game. As you get older your priorities change. Will one day consider it heavily. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Tom welcomes to the program a different Tom named Tom Luongo, this one comes with slightly more hair. Mr. Luongo used to be good at a thing called blogging back in 2003 and 2008. He has since decided to return to the public eye as he occasionally opines opinions longer than a tweet. He believes social media should be reserved exclusively for puppy and unicorn videos.Mr. Luongo is a hard-core libertarian and believes in human rights and is therefore against war as a matter of principle. Wars support the state and they are the worst possible outcome of human interaction. The Ukraine war is full of disinformation and bias from the media and as always the first casualty in war is the truth. Russia appears to generally be less biased in its reporting. The Russians feel this is the least bad action they can take regarding Ukraine at this time.Misinformation is information with the intent to mislead whereas disinformation can just be incorrect information. All information needs to be examined with a critical eye and the motivations of the source should be questioned.Much of the world has underestimated Putin largely due to incompetence. Power tends to make politicians lazy. However, when you don't have a lot of power, you have to be cautious. Sergey Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, is an excellent diplomat who has garnered the respect of many countries.Putin wanted a multi-polar world with plenty of co-operation around Russian interests. The West has failed to listen and they naively, believed they could win in Ukraine and place missiles on the Russian border. Our Western governments are working for foreign actors, namely the Davos World Economic Forum. These people are driving policy and damaging the West. These European interests want to see the United States weakened or destroyed. They need the rule of law in the United States to collapse so they can have implemented their great transnational superstate reset. They know if they can destroy Russia, then they can then take on China.Tom explains how Putin was able to clean up and restructure Russia over the past two decades. Russia has benefitted greatly from the hard times creating quality people. They have built up a massive war chest because they are a leading exporter of many commodities.Putin understands the importance of taking advantage of your opponent's weakness. He will likely back a new domestic ruble with gold. He may then allow backchannel financial systems like cryptocurrencies. Life remains fairly normal in Russia, with most of the panic and problems being international. Russia has weathered far worse situations. The financial system is breaking down and the Davos crowd is desperate. The entire world is built on a foundation of paper gold as a means to lever everything. Russia is capable of forcing financial discipline on the entire world and we're getting close to the next act in this drama playing out.The Europeans hope to create a quagmire for Russia, but it probably won't work. The Eurodollar futures curve is going flat and even the Fed is likely to impose fiscal discipline. Should the U.S. raise rates, it could crush Europe.Ukraine won't be planting any crops because the diesel supplies have all been blown up. There is no wheat or corn futures market. A major political shakeup is coming to the U.S. Congress in November, assuming the world survives. There is a righteous amount of anger in Russia and Ukraine needs to surrender quickly or politicians will be swinging from lamp posts. Those in power in Ukraine are receiving very bad advice from Europe.A restructuring of the financial system could be done with at most a couple of years of pain. Today, we have the choice of either a bad period or a far worse time, perhaps even starvation. Economics is blood and most of our politicians don't even understand the basics. The world is fracturing from the global agenda and these globalists still believe they are winning. Europe is done and they are going to be destroyed ...

This is a what we like to call a greatest hit – or a replay– of an earlier episode we thought was outstanding and wanted to make sure everyone had a chance to enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed the recording of it. Greg and Darren have a wide ranging conversation with Lorraine Luongo about her journey to real estate investing, the importance of education and, of course, short term rentals!  Lorraine operates several short term rentals (STR) in the Myrtle Beach area and she shares some tips on operating in this niche. One stand out is that you have to be absolutely sure of technology before implementing into your business - wireless locks anyone? You can find Lorraine at - lorraineluongo@gmail.com872 560 9705takemetomyrtlebeach.com

Fed Watch - Bitcoin and Macro
The Fall of Davos Man ft. Tom Luongo - Fed 72

Fed Watch - Bitcoin and Macro

In this episode of Bitcoin Magazine's “Fed Watch'' podcast, Christian Keroles and I sit down with Tom Luongo of Gold Goats & Guns to talk about Europe and central bank politics. We go into the weeds, what's happening behind closed doors as it were, in a discussion you won't find on any other show. Tom's theories revolve around his idea of the primarily European/Western elites which he sums up as Davos man. It's a wide-ranging discussion which I outline below. You can find all of Tom's content on his website. I recommend going back to episode 75-77 to get a summary of Davos man and his geopolitical framework. Tom is a long time bitcoin advocate, so of course, we discuss what bitcoin means geopolitically in this time of great change. Who or what is Davos man? I read a post from Tom Luongo that was syndicated to Zerohedge several months ago. In that post he was calling the European elites “Davos man”. I was struck by this framing, because it perfectly sums up the elites of the declining world order in my general geopolitical framework. Tom describes them as, “all the people who think they run the world.” Their calling cards are globalization, international institutions (like NATO, the EU and the UN), climate change, and a global tax regime. He sums it up as “communists”, I'd add to that that they are global communists. The goal of Davos is to reverse WWII, where European economies were destroyed and capital fled to the US. This time, they want to cause global chaos outside of Europe, and make the EU the center for capital flight in the coming decades. Powell and Davos Tom frames the current struggle as a battle between Davos man and Wall St. Powell is not Janet Yellen; he is loyal to US money interests in a way that contradicts Davos' full court press against the world. Tom filled in our blanks on why Powell is different. For the last year, Christian and I, on FedWatch have been saying Powell is a “straight shooter”. We sensed he was different than the typical central bank elite. Now I see that this central banking elite is part of the Davos world order.   Powell has stiff-armed Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and provided monetary facilities that have maintained US dollar dominance in the global financial system. Tom goes into why his renomination is so important, because it is like drawing a red line, the US will not play Davos' game anymore. Cinderella favorite Lael Brainard, who was passed up for Chairman because her appointment by the Senate was questionable, and her deep connections to the CCP through her husband have surfaced. World tour of geopolitics In the second half of the show, our conversation gets into the weeds on specific hotspots around the world. We and Tom are in agreement that Europe is in a lot of trouble. But where I am concerned about Russia's natural geopolitical drive for strategic depth and their waning demographic time bomb, Luongo is not as worried because Russia does not want to be dragged into a war. To give you an idea of the ground we cover quickly at the end of the podcast, we brought in Afghanistan and why that was such a pivotal event, MacKinder and Brzezinski's Heartland Theory, and the US' return to non-interventionism.   If you enjoyed this content please subscribe and review on iTunes to help others find the show. Legendary Broadcaster, Brian Williams joined Matt and Blake as he announces his retirement after a 50 year career. Talked about the start of his career and a few of the early Grey Cups he has worked. He recited, incredibly, where he was sitting in some of these games, the score, the story of the game. Talked about what he enjoyed the most of what he has seen. Says one of the earliest lessons he learned is that he is a story teller. Talked about his early days in Invermere, BC. It's where he learned country music and dancing. Talked about they Olympics in Vancouver. Says that in his conversations with Olympic officials, that Vancouver was the city that bought in the most. Vancouver changed the way Canadian athletes approached the Olympics. Heading into the games, Canada was the only country to host the games twice and never win a gold medal. Talked about his best moments in his career. They are all exciting and all good. Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie and Dhali joined the guys in his regular Friday spot. Talked about why he keeps his phone on set while doing his show live. Talked about Scott Mellanby and that he is hearing his name more. Says Bergevin isn't coming here until there is full autonomy. Talked about the Aquilini family structure. Hasn't heard much but keeps hearing “patience”. Says this franchise is 2 to 3 smart decisions away from being a contender. TG has be feeling better after a couple of wins. Do what Jeff Gorton did today. He laid out a mission statement.  Seattle expansion has 9 more goals than the Canucks. Rick doesn't understand why Dowling is on his left side if they are trying to bump his slump. This team would be in a totally different spot of Boeser had 10 goals and EP had 13. Talked about Abby. Everything is fine with Klimovich. Not many people know how tough that league is. He is only 18 and the youngest guy in the league. Rick's gut says he won't go to junior. He has hit a wall and getting a reset. Don't read too much into it. Believes Evander Kane's agent has talked to the Canucks. Though, he doesn't see it happening. Talked about Hamonic and all the coincidences. Talked about De Brusk. A 7th round won't cut it.  Jeff Paterson joined in his regular spot. Talked about how excited he is to see Sidney Crosby tomorrow. Talked about why. Says that for the profile that he has, he knows almost nothing about him. He is just one part of this machine that is winning. At this stage of his career and this season, he is just one of the guys. Not the headliner in the here and now, but still has that status to him. Talked about the to and fro of Hamonic. Talked about goaltending. Things move quickly in the NHL. Canucks thought they were set for years with Luongo and Schneider. Same thing in PIT that has Jarry as their starter now.  Captain Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune joined Matt and Blake to talk about the division rivalry match for the Seahawks vs 49ers this weekend. Talked about the Hawks picking up Adrian Peterson. Talked about how AP was tailgating at a college game last weekend. Talked about why they have a need for him in the first place. The average career span for a RB is 2.6 years. AP has played 15… even if there has been limited participation in the last few seasons. That's why he signed a practice roster spot for a 3-8 team. Talked about the milestones AP is on the verge of breaking. The Seahawks have to make RB decisions well outside of temporarily brining in this player. This is more like a hobby for Pete Carroll. Talked about young players who have something to gain the rest of the way in meaningless games. Gregg is looking at DK Metcalf. Wondering if he really wants to stick around this team with RW3 potentially leaving. He is playing for himself and getting into a position to get a big contract. What would be possible if we reinvented ourselves in our 50s, 60s, AND 70s?According to 72-year young Reinvention Rebel Janet Luongo, just about anything! This energetic artist and activist should know. She's not only reinvented herself multiple times later in life, but she's also honed her reinvention skills over many years. Can you imagine seeing yourself exhibiting your artwork in Paris and then fearlessly making it happen? Yep, she did that. And writing a memoir about a year in your life at 18 and getting it published at 72? She did that too!Reinventing herself many times over has yielded impactful lessons in self-empowerment, resilience, courage, and a desire to contribute her time and talents to make the world a better place. The common denominator: she has learned how to manifest her dreams, turning her ideas into reality. She reminds us that we can do that too! I love what Janet shares about:- how she's manifested her desires in every decade- why she quit her job during a critical time to reinvent herself- how trusting her gut led to a host of new opportunities- why experimentation and self-discovery are important parts of the reinvention process- how we can rekindle our dreams, no matter how many years have gone by- why patience is key to reinventing ourselves (it almost never happens overnight!)- how she continues to reinvent herself at 72 in inspiring waysand so much more! This episode is so juicy, so joyful, so full of ideas to ignite your own thinking about what's possible as you age.We can reinvent ourselves at any age or any stage and Janet epitomizes just how possible this is.
