I am beyond grateful to share with you our latest episode which features Lindsay Gibson. She shares her courageous journey through stillness and learning how to be with herself, her past trauma, and find her source of joy. Lindsay became numb and lived in denial after a traumatic experience at 16 years old. She shares how she lived in fear, in flight, and often experienced flashbacks, nightmares, and disassociated. When she became a mother for the first time, she poured herself into motherhood, continuing to live in the denial of the traumatic experience. After the stillbirth of her son, Joseph, grief overwhelmed her to the point where she could no longer deny being present with her emotions and allowing herself to fully feel her love, and her loss. Trauma sensitive yoga became a regular practice and supported her journey back to joy.
Featured in this episode is Mark Brown, from Zen Pig. He shares his perspective of moving through the world throughout his early 20's without mindfulness, how his practices of affirmations, meditations, and the like have supported him to develop into the person he aims to be in the world, and now as a parent. Upon having his son, Mark and his wife created the Zen Pig series to support the growth of mindfulness and emotional development for children. Episode 7Kristy Gungler is the founder of Three Planted Seeds. In this episode of Awe Stories, Kristy shares with us her experience of reconnecting with the love of nature, finding yoga during a pregnancy after miscarriage, mothering through postpartum anxiety, and how the tools of mindfulness, essential oils, and yoga keep her grounded and connected so she can show up as her best self. Kristy also shares ways that she has passed these traditions and tools along to her children, getting them excited about sharing yoga with their friends and using essential oils for healing. Kristy first stepped on a yoga mat back in 2006 while pregnant with her first child. She was looking for a way to keep her job-related stress at a minimum. She still vividly remembers how she felt after class. The feeling of peace and joy had such a positive affect on her physically, mentally, and emotionally. And so her yoga journey began.As a mother of 2 children, Kristy started to integrate her teachings from yoga into her journey through motherhood. Feeling so connected to this practice and wanting to pass it on to her family and others that in 2011 she received a certificate to teach kids yoga. In early 2013, again followed her heart and enrolled in the Yoga 360 School of Teaching 200 hr CYT Yoga and Ayurveda teacher training. Kristy leads her life by following her heart and passions.In addition to becoming a certified yoga teacher, Kristy also holds a bachelor’s degree in science, studying environmental biology and worked as a certified veterinary technician for 10 years. Currently she is studying aromatherapy and completing the requirements to become a 300 hour certified clinical aromatherapist. She is deeply passionate about and connected to all aspects of nature. She often looks to nature as a guide to her life’s journey, and is truly grateful for all it has taught her. Zoe Lepage is the founder of Exhale to Inhale, a nonprofit committed to providing trauma informed yoga to survivors of domestic and sexual assault. Zoe became passionate about providing yoga to survivors after hearing the powerful and challenging stories of women around her. She discusses her experiences prior to yoga as a ballerina, feeling disconnected from her body, and her journey back to herself, as well as the practices that she has learned and that she teaches to create space and healing for herself and those around her. She also shares highlights and healing moments of women healing from trauma and finding empowerment, community, connection, and themselves on their yoga mat.
Tracy Roberts is the founder of The Circle Center located in Nashville, TN. In this episode of Awe Stories, Tracy discusses being a social worker working in residential with teenagers, feelings of being burned out from his job, and how he found his calling when he was sent to a training to host restorative circles. Upon seeing how circles were being used in businesses during this training, Tracy came home and took a leap of faith establishing The Circle Center. Tracy presently works with businesses, nonprofits, and trains individuals who are interested in facilitating circles. He discusses the art of circling and importance of building trust, how we can utilize circles to talk through hard conversations, and provides great examples of how circles have been used as a process to connect, build relationships, and ultimately create a community in which individuals, and the businesses in which they work, thrive.
Lindsay Kirsch is a entrepreneur, coach, and mother. In this episode of Awe Stories, Lindsay shares her personal story of navigating a heartbreak and becoming a single mother. As she stepped into this new season, she pushed past pain and pushed into survival mode. Upon attending a yoga training, she found relief from the panic attacks and anxiety that had overcome her during this time.
