In a world that's never been more comfortable, why are so many people struggling?   This week, my guest is Dr. Alok Kanojia, medical doctor, psychiatrist and one the world's foremost authorities on mental health for the gaming community. He is known online as Dr K and is the co-founder of Healthy Gamer, a mental health platform that provides content and coaching to help young people take control of their wellbeing and he's also the author of the bestselling book: How to Raise a Healthy Gamer: End Power Struggles, Break Bad Screen Habits, and Transform Your Relationship with Your Kids.   One of the things I like the most about Alok is his competence and expertise in both western medical and eastern philosophies: he has both trained to be a monk in India and he has a Western medical degree and practices as a psychiatrist.   During our conversation, you will learn: Why comfort might be the greatest threat to our mental health and how the brain and mind “rust” without regular use How technology is rewiring our attention and what ‘doom-scrolling' is really doing to our brains Why our emotional regulation is weakening and how simple acts like taking the stairs can recondition the mind The difference between the brain and the mind and why understanding this could transform how we approach mental illness Why meditation isn't a one-size-fits-all and how finding the right technique for your brain can make all the difference The true meaning and essence of happiness The link between ancient wisdom and modern psychiatry, and why you may be the only person that is truly qualified to heal your mind. It was then that BC wrote + recorded songs, and have since become the most successful independent group of their kind. Fusing elements of electronic, choral, deep bass, hip hop and jazz, Beautiful Chorus is unlike any other. They have albums that span from wordless symphonies to full rhythmic songs, w/ sound healing frequencies and love-centered messages. They even have a wordless holiday album, a lullaby album, and a multitude of singable hymns and mantras. She also focuses on energetic healing to help people shift from self-doubt to self-empowerment.In our engaging conversation, Rebbetzin Ruty explains to us how we can find the light of Hashem inside ourselves and inside of others, including our husband. The first thing you need to do is to realize that Hashem chose YOU to radiate YOUR light--if He hadn't chosen you, then you wouldn't be here. Once you know yourself, you know Hashem. His pure essence is inside of you.Next, you need to understand that your TRUE ESSENCE is your LIGHT. Your soul is pure light. The darkness you experience is just the yetzer hara (the evil inclination.) Wherever you have the greatest struggle, you have the greatest light. If you want to know where your strengths are, look at your weaknesses. If you are struggling, turn inward and listen to your intuition. Your intuition is a soft voice; it's Hashem's voice guiding you. Listen to that voice.When things are hard for you, sit with your pain for a while. Express your pain. You can journal or write down your feelings. Then move the pain out of yourself through exercise, dance, music, or anything that moves the pain out of your psyche. You don't want to hold on to pain.Show yourself compassion, but don't drown in self-pity. Look for your inner light. Your intuition will guide you to see your light and, therefore, your strengths. It will allow you to shift your beliefs from "I'm not good enough" to "I am a shining light of goodness." By sitting with your pain and then shifting your mindset, you give yourself compassion with boundaries--Tiferet.Once we shift our mindset, we shift our energy. When we shift our own energy, creating a positive, loving light, others feel our energy shift, and THEIR energy also begins to shift, and they are more receptive to us. Our husband, children, family, friends, potential clients, will be drawn to us because we are radiating happiness and positivity. People want to be around light, not darkness. Also, we need to see the light in others, including our husband. The more light we see in ourselves, the bigger that light grows inside of us. Consequently, the more light we see in others (especially our husband), the more their light grows, and the more radiant they become.When you see the good in yourself and in others, your mind becomes accustomed to seeing the good, or looking for the good, instead of the negative. Here is a little more about Keely: Keely's career began with a deep commitment to service, working with a nonprofit that provided medical devices to vulnerable populations in war-torn regions. In her early twenties, Keely traveled to remote parts of Africa and Asia, where she discovered her true calling: to serve and uplift women in their most transformative moments. Driven by this mission, Keely pursued a Master's in Maternal and Child Health from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. Upon graduation, she joined a Hospitalist Medical Group, but it was clear her heart lay in direct patient care, where she could make a more personal impact. With this newfound clarity, Keely transitioned to offering her expertise as a Doula and Health Educator, initially providing pro bono support to underserved communities in Los Angeles. Over the years, Keely has supported hundreds of families in both hospital and home settings, always with a focus on holistic, compassionate care. During the pandemic, Keely expanded her knowledge by studying Midwifery Care, which further deepened her understanding of family-centered care. As a student midwife, she reimagined the possibilities of women's health and became devoted to educating and empowering women to honor their bodies, autonomy, and unique paths. Keely's teaching philosophy draws from her background in Public Health, Medical Anthropology, and holistic wellness. This integrated approach allows her to support healthy, informed individuals while also tending to the emotional and energetic dimensions of care. She moves beyond clinical frameworks to explore the deeper ceremony of caregiving and how we show up for one another as a personal, collective, and ecological practice. Are you a Baby Boomer nearing retirement or are you already in retirement, but stuck figuring out how to be as relevant as you have always been? The baby boomer generation is an important generation for mankind where post World War II led to the explosion of baby making. Baby boomers are known for their positive attitude, high incomes, and strong work ethic. They are also known for being networking experts and for their ability to craft their image. Baby boomers are the children of the Greatest Generation or the Silent Generation, and are often the parents of Millennials and Generation X. They came of age during a time of economic expansion, the creation of suburbs, and massive social change.
