"Hello --It is May 23rd and welcome to Wonderland Fellow Griever. — “You've just stepped Down the Rabbit Hole — where mental health meets madness after loss. This is your daily dose of truth, grief, and yes, just the right bit of madness.”WEEK 3: Control & SurrenderDay 23: Today's truth is: "Try again: draw a long breath..." Idea: Starting over. Some days, you start over five times before noon. And that's okay. Grief doesn't care about linear progress — it just asks that you show up, in whatever form that may be. Your journey is valid, no matter how it unfolds. This quote is a gentle nudge. Not a demand. Not a hustle. Just a breath. Just a whisper that even here, in the heaviness, you still get to begin again. And it's okay to begin again, as many times as you need.So today, draw a long breath. Literally. Right now. Inhale. Hold. Exhale. That's it. That counts. That matters.Starting again doesn't mean starting over. It just means returning — to now, to your body, to your strength. Do you feel rested and at peace? Or are you bombarded with obstacles keeping you from true soul rest? Tessa Afshar, author of The Rested Soul, in an attempt to “rejection proof” her life landed instead in a pit of anxiety. She found the rest her soul was longing for in the One who will never reject you. As Tessa shares her journey from anxiety to a rested soul she leaves breadcrumbs for us to find our way there too with truths like: God uses the pits in our lives even when they are painful. As long as we stay attached to Jesus we’ll get to the other side. Find scripture that speaks to your situation and let it anchor you. Know that God is shaping your character so that you are ready for what is still ahead. Exhale. Heal. And find rest for your anxious soul in God.Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/morningshow/wgnbSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Send us a textEver had one of those weeks where everything feels impossible—even the things you normally love? That's exactly what happened as I tried to record this podcast episode. Four separate attempts, four brick walls. But instead of forcing it, I decided to get curious about what was really going on beneath the surface. My body was sending signals through back pain and fatigue that something needed attention. As a Gen X woman, I was trained to power through discomfort—to ignore my needs until breaking point. People used to call me Wonder Woman because I just kept going no matter what. It served me well... until it didn't.Our bodies hold onto everything we've experienced—physical, emotional, spiritual. When we consistently ignore what we need, our bodies eventually force us to stop through pain or illness. But there's another way. By pausing to ask "what do I actually need right now?" we can break the cycle of pushing until we break. This simple practice of presence allows us to tune into our mind, body, and spirit before we reach crisis point. If you're running on empty and struggling to hear what your body is telling you, know that it's not too late to change the pattern. Grab my free guide "Five Ways to Practice Presence" from the show notes and start today. Remember, you don't need permission to take care of yourself—but if you do, consider it granted. The world needs what only you have to offer, but first, you need to take care of the vessel delivering those gifts.5 Ways to Practice Presence
I'm releasing this episode a day early—because I can feel how much it's needed right now. So many of us are moving through deep cycles of light and shadow, expansion and contraction. You are not alone. On May 1st, I experienced a full day of Oneness—pure Light, complete Presence, a deep remembering of the true Self. And then, the next day… my skin broke out, my digestion slowed, my energy dipped. It felt like a crash—but it wasn't. It was a contraction. The natural exhale after the inhale. In this episode, I share the lived rhythm of spiritual awakening through the lens of Samsara—the spiral of life, death, and rebirth that pulses through every breath, every moment, every phase of our journey. I speak on Shiva and Shakti, the inhale and exhale of Consciousness, and why you're not going backwards when things feel low after a spiritual high. This is the path of Quantum Manifestation—not a linear rise, but a sacred rhythm. A return to Truth through both the opening and the closing. The Light and the body. You are not broken. You are remembering. We're here to support you in finding peace and balance. Here are five different breathing techniques you can try:Diaphragmatic Breathing (Abdominal Breathing):Breathe deeply through your nose, allowing your diaphragm to expand and fill your abdomen with air. Exhale slowly through your mouth. This technique helps to reduce stress and promote relaxation.Box Breathing (Square Breathing):Inhale for a count of 4, hold your breath for a count of 4, exhale for a count of 4, and hold again for a count of 4. This technique is great for calming the nervous system and improving focus.4-7-8 Breathing:Inhale quietly through your nose for 4 seconds, hold your breath for 7 seconds, and exhale slowly through your mouth for 8 seconds. This technique can help reduce anxiety and promote better sleep.Alternate Nostril Breathing (Nadi Shodhana):Close one nostril with your thumb, inhale deeply through the other nostril, then close that nostril and exhale through the other side. This is believed to help balance the body's energy and calm the mind.Pursed Lip Breathing:Inhale deeply through your nose, then purse your lips as if you're about to whistle, and exhale slowly through your pursed lips. This helps to slow down your breathing and improve lung function, often used for respiratory conditions. Each of these techniques can be helpful for reducing stress, increasing mindfulness, and improving overall well-being!Follow Care to Change on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/CaretoChange.org/Follow Care to Change on Instagram @care_to_changeSee our YouTube page hereIf you would like someone to come speak to your group about anxiety, depression or mental health, contact us for more details. If you are struggling and ready to take a step toward freedom, schedule an appt today.

In this empowering episode of the INvisible Women Podcast, host Melody and Monica sits down with award-winning writer, activist, and creator of The Great Exhale, Lisa Hurley. As we close out Autism Awareness Month, Lisa opens up about her lived experience as a Black autistic woman, the daily exhaustion of navigating professional spaces not built for her, and why she created digital sanctuaries where Black women can finally breathe. Lisa is creating a movement where Black women are unapologetically taking off the “Strong Black Woman” capes and stepping boldly into a new era—the Soft Life Era—one rooted in rest, restoration, and radical self-honoring.Lisa's upcoming book, Space to Exhale: A Handbook for Curating a Soft, Centered, Serene Life, is more than a wellness guide—it's a lifeline for those tired of hustle culture, unspoken expectations, and masking exhaustion behind competence. In this episode, she speaks truth to the pressure Black women face to “perform strength” while rarely receiving support in return.✨ This episode is for you if you've ever felt:Tired of doing it all while being seen as “too much” or “not enough”Overstimulated by environments that ignore your needsPressured to smile through pain or prove your struggle to be believedExhausted from being strong when what you really need is restWe talk rest as resistance, softness as survival, and why Lisa believes Black women deserve to exhale—without apology.
Are you carrying silent burdens that no one else sees? It's time to find real healing and rest. In this powerful Sunday sermon, Pastor Donnie McClurkin shares a heartfelt message about understanding and experiencing the true rest that God offers. Drawing from Matthew 11:28-30 and 1 Peter 5:7, Pastor Donnie reminds us that while many know God, few fully lean on His support, continuing to live stressed and overwhelmed. Pastor Donnie explains the trichotomy of man—body, soul, and spirit—and challenges us to stop masking our inner wounds with superficial faith. Through personal stories and biblical truth, he shows how unresolved pain can block us from the freedom Christ intended. If you are ready to experience the peace and healing only Jesus can give, this message is for you. God does not want us to live burdened or broken. He invites us into His rest, calling us to cast every care on Him and walk fully in healing and wholeness. Day 3 of 90- Waiting to Exhale be Remembered Genesis 40:1-23; Genesis 41:1 The prison is where Joseph's purpose grows up. Pre-prison, Joseph is just a dreamer. In prison, Joseph becomes an interpreter. Post-prison, Joseph becomes governor. How do you put faith in a God who appears to have forgotten about you? Sometimes, God will allow people to falsely accuse you so that when you get to the prison, you can graduate from dreamer to interpreter. From Dreamer to Interpreter: Have you ever had to set aside your own dreams to help someone else? How did that experience impact you? What's the difference between having a dream and helping others understand theirs? Which one do you relate to more right now?
Can you imagine a world right now where every single person is collectively taking a little longer exhalation and just pausing with their breath? With every long exhale, we're clearing out the clutter, emotional residue... and much more.Spring is all about releasing and letting go of old beliefs, discarding heavy thoughts and heavy clothing (hopefully soon), and simply cleansing and clearing. That's why this is the perfect time to pause, exhale, and notice our breath.Today, on Episode #148 of the Habit Thrive Podcast, we're going practice our extended exhalation together. This long exhalation can be our anchor in this "messy middle" time we're experiencing. It reminds our nervous system that it's ok to pause, soften, and wait patiently. We're going to explore the science behind our lengthened exhalation and how it impacts our nervous system, digestive system, oxygen flow and more. We're also going to dive into what happens when we take this simple, long exhalation from strengthening our diaphragm to gently massaging our internal organs! So, settle in, take a breath, and let it out.Love,Lorrie xoxoxMentioned in this episode:Get a Sneak Peek at my Spring & Summer Journal on MemberVaultLoving the show? Hey Intentional Wellness Warrior! In light of Good Friday being today and Easter Sunday, I bring you this breath prayer. Jesus conquered all sin and death on the cross for you and for me and for the world. AND THEN he rose 3 days later . His resurrection from the dead , victory over all gives us life. He is Risen and alive and that means as we receive this gift- alive in us! As we live life, we get wrapped up in the stress of it all- even burnt out on stress - we have to remember Jesus is alive in us and gives all peace, joy, hope, love, strength, LIFE. He lives in us SO we can live. Sit with this truth. Breathe it in and speak it out and as you do listen to what God is speaking back to you about Jesus Christ being alive and living in you. Verse: “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” – Galatians 2:20 inhale: Christ is alive… Exhale: and lives in me. Breathe in LIFE. Happy Resurrection Sunday! Shalom Shalom, Xx, Shan ……CONNECT……

Are you caught in a cycle of parental guilt, frustration, and overwhelm? In this important conversation, Dr. Jennifer Reid interviews clinical psychologist Dr. Alissa Jerud about her groundbreaking book Emotion Savvy Parenting. D-Day. The day everything changed. The day I discovered my husband was having an affair. For me, it was a random weekday — ordinary in every way... until it wasn't. I remember the moment I saw the truth staring back at me — a message, a phone call, a slip-up. It felt like time slowed down. My heart pounded so hard I could hear it in my ears. My knees buckled. I felt sick. And in that split second, my entire reality shattered. Maybe you've experienced something similar. Today's episode is a tender one. I'm inviting you into one of the most personal parts of my story — what really happened to me on D-Day — the day I discovered my husband's affair. So grab a cozy spot and maybe a cup of tea... this one's for the woman who's just found out, or the one who's still living in the aftermath. Let's breathe together. Inhale His peace. Exhale the pain. "The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way." - Marcus Aurelius Bring your awareness to the past week. Gently review the events that occurred, not with judgment, but with detached observation. Allow images and memories to surface, like scenes from a film. As you reflect, pay close attention to the moments that presented challenges, obstacles, or setbacks. Begin to shift your perspective to the Stoic quote: 'The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.' THIS WEEK'S THEME: The Stoic's Gaze Welcome to this week's meditation series: "The Stoic's Gaze: Perceiving Opportunity in All Challenges" In each episode this week, you're guided with the mental tools to transform challenges into pathways for personal growth and virtuous living, directly inspired by Stoic philosophy. Each session focuses on a core Stoic virtue and offers practical techniques to shift perspective and find hidden opportunities within adversity. The series begins by establishing the foundational Stoic understanding that external events are largely outside your control, but your responses and interpretations are entirely within your power. It emphasizes that challenges, rather than being mere obstacles, are opportunities to practice and strengthen Stoic virtues like kindness, patience, resilience, wisdom, courage, and self-control. Each meditation session will guide you through a process of reframing your perception of challenging situations. You're invited to observe your initial emotional reactions without judgment, and then intentionally shift your focus to the potential for growth and virtue. The guided meditations will incorporate visualizations, affirmations, and contemplative practices that embody Stoic principles. You Might Know Her From Insecure, Lost, The Fugitive, Bad Monkey, How to Get Away with Murder, Waiting to Exhale, The Net, Soweto Green and the Broadway production of Joe Turner's Come and Gone. L. Scott gave us all the scoop on acting opposite Crystal the Monkey in Bad Monkey, bringing her personal story to Rose's story on Lost, and working with August Wilson on the Broadway production of his 1988 play Joe Turner's Come and Gone. All that, plus being killed off as Molly's mom on Insecure (she forgot!), working with Uta Hagen and the Negro Ensemble Company, and what she learned from Joe Pantoliano on the set of The Fugitive. "How long are you going to wait before you demand the best for yourself?" - Epictetus Explore the Stoic virtue of patience. In a world of instant gratification, patience is a powerful tool for inner peace. You'll be guided in a meditation to cultivate patience and to see delays and frustrations as opportunities to cultivate patience and resilience. THIS WEEK'S THEME: The Stoic's Gaze Welcome to this week's meditation series: "The Stoic's Gaze: Perceiving Opportunity in All." In each episode this week, you're guided with the mental tools to transform challenges into pathways for personal growth and virtuous living, directly inspired by Stoic philosophy. YOUR MEDITATION JOURNEY DURING THIS WEEK'S SERIES This is episode 2 of a 7-day meditation series titled, "The Stoic's Gaze: Finding Opportunity Everyday" episodes 3283-3289. Be guided as you explore and harmonize the masculine and feminine energies within each individual, based on the 7th Hermetic Principle of Gender. It's not about physical gender, but about the balance of active and receptive forces that exist in everyone and everything. The meditation guides the listener to become aware of these energies within themselves. It encourages them to identify the qualities associated with each: masculine (active, logical, doing) and feminine (receptive, intuitive, being). It emphasizes that achieving inner balance is key, as an overemphasis on either energy can lead to imbalance. The meditation aims to facilitate a sense of wholeness by encouraging the integration and harmonization of these energies THIS WEEK'S THEME: This week, we embark on a journey into the ancient and profound wisdom of Hermeticism. Hermeticism, attributed to the legendary figure Hermes Trismegistus, is a spiritual and philosophical tradition that has influenced thinkers for millennia. It offers a unique perspective on the nature of reality, the interconnectedness of all things, and the power of the mind. Simply put, what you do has consequences. Every choice you make, every action you take, sets something else in motion. It's like planting seeds. If you plant apple seeds, you'll get apple trees. If you plant weeds, you'll get weeds. Not only do your actions matter, but also your intentions. Why are you doing what you're doing? A kind intention is more likely to lead to a positive effect than a selfish one. Be guided in a meditation practicing the sixth key prinicple of Hermeticism.
