Cobra Kai is fun, funny, and light-hearted, with a lot of kick-ass karate, but it's also heartfelt, and while reverent to the classic Karate Kid series it follows, it also cleverly remixes and re-contextualizes themes and situations from those movies. It'
Cobra Kai keeps us guessing in these last two episodes, sending all the adults out clubbing (which was delightful) and then into a bloody life-or-death battle at Terry's place! As parents and with Richard being a teacher, some of the issues raised in this series and in these couple of episodes in particular, specifically around screen dependencies, really hit us close to home. Little bit of a different type of conversation from us this week around that, and I think you'll appreciate it. We're not sure why it didn't occur to us that Cobra Kai would give us a tournament-style rematch between Daniel and Johnny, but how kickass is it that it did?!! So great. Also this week, Johnny learns feminism. :PWe're happy to be joined this week by our friend Damian, host of the Watched It in the ‘80s Podcast, which you can find at https://pod.link/1565684262 or by searching for “Watched It in the ‘80s” wherever you get podcasts. Of course Johnny is an Iceman guy over Maverick, lol. Rima and Rich and I are having as much fun as ever podcasting about another excellent season of Cobra Kai. Cobra Kai is back! This is one of our favorite shows to watch and to podcast about, and these first two episodes did not disappoint! What can I say about this movie? There's a surprising amount that the show Cobra Kai draws from it. And I actually did find little nuggets of that old Karate Kid magic in it. But mostly it's a huge letdown and we don't pull our punches in this episode! IMO it's definitely worth listening to the end just to hear Richard's breakout performance :)This podcast is made possible by listeners like you (and you too) who have supported us at patreon.com/jasonandkaren. Holy crap, what a great couple of episodes to cap off an awesome season! So many great moments. There are a lot of shows and movies capitalizing on our nostalgia these days, but for our money, Cobra Kai is doing it best. Hope you guys enjoyed this season as much as we did :)I'm not sure what we'll be covering next on this podcast (aside from the 1973 Westworld movie next week), but we'll be back sooner or later, so stay subscribed and we'll speak to you soon. Cobra Kai starts off a little heavier than usual, but what do you expect after a school-wide karate war between Daniel and Johnny's students puts one of them in a coma! Still, we found a lot to laugh about, and we always love the way this show treads that fine line between being fun and having a lot of heart.Welcome back to Cobra Kai coverage with Rima, Rich, and Jason! We're stoked to be back podcasting on this show and we appreciate you guys joining us. We're continuing on doing two episodes a week, and we won't be watching ahead, so feel free to hang back and watch it along with us, or binge ahead and then laugh at all our theories and predictions :)You can find our contact info and all our other shows at: podcastica.com Show support and get ad-free episodes: patreon.com/jasoncabassi Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
