Svou cestu svěř Hospodinu, on sám bude jednat, připomíná žalmista.
We have CHOZEN our adventure this episode...and it's tailing a bunch of wayward teens through Barcelona while Silver is reunited with his one true love (Kreese)! Oh and Iron Braid gets some...yay?

– zen priest teaching the art of war, conflict In this era of profound conflict and rupture, we are witnessing disharmony at every level of humanity---within ourselves, in our relationships, across our communities, within the nation, and across nation states. Group conflict can stretch and break us, but if we are willing to endure the pain, it can also lead us closer to existential realities that are uncomfortable, yet essential, for us to face. When collective conflict arises, it thrusts us into liminal spaces of uncertainty, loss, vitality, and initiation. In these moments, we must ask ourselves: how do we learn to listen to the individual and collective soul that is emerging? This New School conversation series will weave perspectives from depth and transpersonal psychologies, somatics, cosmology, and consciousness into conflict transformation. We will learn from wisdom keepers who are deeply trained in both the technical craft of conflict resolution and the spiritual, ancestral, and traditional wisdom that allows us to see deeply into conflict---transforming shared suffering into opportunities for healing. In this conversation, Serena talks with Norma Wong, Zen priest and teacher about the art of war and conflict, who recently served to help facilitate a mutual path through the conflict between native culture/science and western discovery science posing as a dispute over the construction of a telescope on Mauna Kea. Norma Wong (Norma Ryuko Kawelokū Wong Roshi) Norma is a Native Hawaiian and Hakka life-long resident of Hawaiʻi. She is the abbot of Anko-in, an independent branch temple of Daihonzan Chozen-ji and serves practice communities in Hawai‘i, across the continental U.S., and in Toronto, Canada. She is an 86th generation Zen Master, having trained at Chozen-ji for over 40 years. In earlier years, Wong served as a Hawai‘i state legislator, working on the return of ceded lands and settlement of land issues. In recent years, Wong has been called back into service to facilitate breaking the impasse and transforming policy and governance on issues of seeming contradiction. In the conflict between native culture/science and western discovery science posing as a dispute over the construction of a telescope on Mauna Kea, Wong was a team member narrating and facilitating a path forward through mutual stewardship. She is currently an advisor to Speaker of the Hawai‘i House of Representatives Scott Saiki, serving in policy development and facilitation roles on issues such as the protection of the aquifer from fuel contamination at Red Hill, and the long-term response to the Lahaina wildfires. Find out more about Norma on her website: normawong.com Serena Bian Serena is pursuing a life that remains attentive to the tenderness of a snail's soft body and reverent to the miracle of its spiraled shell. Working with U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy, Serena serves as a Special Advisor and brings a spiritual and systemic understanding to the public health crisis of loneliness and isolation. As a chaplain-in-training, Serena is pursuing questions of how we chaplain the end of extractive systems that isolate communities from themselves and one another. She is involved with multi-generational, multi-spiritual communities like the Nuns and Nones, devoted to courage, peacebuilding, and love. She participates on the Board of Commonweal and CoGenerate. Starlight So Bright Then Gone This week on the podcast, Brian and Darryl are reviewing Superman & Lois Season 4 Episode 8, and Cobra Kai (cobra kai, cobra kai, cobra kai) Season VI: Part 2. Episode Index Intro: 0:07 Supes & Lolo: 9:23 Cobra Kai: 33:26 Out of 5 That Suit Just Melts Off You Darryl: 4.52/5 Brian: 4.56/5 Episode 8: Sharp Dressed Man Summary: In Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 8, titled “Sharp Dressed Man,” Lex Luthor, portrayed by Michael Cudlitz, reemerges as a calculated and dangerous force, shedding his rugged prison look for a clean-cut, tailored appearance to reinvent his public image. Lex strategically appears on The Godfrey! Show, hosted by Gordon Godfrey (Tom Cavanagh), where he challenges Lois Lane to a live debate. Their confrontation becomes a public spectacle, with Lex using manipulative tactics to undermine Lois while simultaneously orchestrating chaos behind the scenes. His associate, Milton Fine, hacks John Henry and Natalie's supersuits, leading to Superman crashing through Lex's windows during the broadcast, an event Lex exploits to damage Lois and Superman's credibility while elevating his own standing. Directed by Cudlitz himself, the episode solidifies Lex's transformation into a more comic-accurate portrayal, blending themes of public perception, manipulation, and personal vendettas, while setting the stage for the season's climactic conflicts. Overall, “Sharp Dressed Man” delves into themes of public perception, manipulation, and the personal vendettas between Lex Luthor and the Kent family, setting the stage for the series' concluding episodes. Cobra Kai (Netflix) Out of 10 ShItButts Darryl: 7.25/10 Brian: 8.17/10 Season VI – Part 2 Episode 6: “Benvinguts a Barcelona” The teams are welcomed in Barcelona, letting them enjoy the city on their first day while the competition starts the next day. Robby tries to talk to Tory about her decision to rejoin Cobra Kai but has no luck doing so. The Miyagi-Do boys lose their hotel rooms to Kwon and Cobra Kai after losing a bet and are forced to split rooms with the girls. The Miyagi-Do members get upset when they find out that Robby knew Kreese spoke to Tory before her mom died and didn’t tell them. Tory asks Robby for a break; she feels it is for the best since they both need to focus on the competition. Daniel and Johnny try to get along with the other senseis and sponsors, but things get hard when Johnny almost gets into an argument with another guest, Wolf, who turns out to be the sensei of Hong Kong dojo Iron Dragons. Chozen arrives drunk, disappointed after going to Japan to look for Kumiko, as he thinks she is romantically involved with another man and his behavior results in the three of them being thrown out. On the tournament’s first day, four teams are placed on the mat and must protect their captains or else the whole team gets eliminated. Robby gets distracted, causing him to lose to Kwon and Miyagi-Do loses the round. Yoon, Tory, and Kwon face off against the other standing team: the Iron Dragons who have all their six members standing. The two captains Zara and Axel go against the Cobra Kai trio alone and beat them, showing that they are a team that will be feared. Episode 7: “Dog in the Fight” Johnny and Daniel are having issues on how to motivate the team as Miyagi-Do doesn’t do very well in the second event of the tournament, and they need to earn more points to avoid elimination. Daniel gets a message from Serrano, a former Sekai Taikai contestant who claims to know Miyagi, and decides to meet him for answers at the given address; however, he gets captured by some thugs and a former student of Cobra Kai, Dennis de Guzman, forcing him to miss the next event of the tournament, resulting in Johnny having to step up. Tension between Miguel and Robby arise when Miguel tells him he is wasting his opportunity to be captain since his issues with Tory have clearly affected his fights. He tells Robby he should either step up or hand over the captain position. Devon admits to Johnny that she cheated, but he encourages to do her best and promises not to say anything. Miyagi-Do advances to the next round thanks to Miguel’s victory against two fighters from an Irish dojo. However, he and Johnny have to return home when Rosa calls and tells them that Carmen is having complications with her pregnancy and is at the hospital. Episode 8: “Snakes on a Plane” After Miguel’s departure, Johnny asks Amanda to contact Kenny and convince him to replace Miguel. However, Kenny explains to Amanda that he has no interest in being part of the team because he still thinks that Anthony was the one who used the laxatives on him. Miguel and Johnny fight on the plane as he tells Johnny that he didn’t support him in the tournament. Zara gets jealous of the attention that Tory receives from the other contestants and sleeps with Robby after he gets drunk at a bar while Tory witnesses a kiss between them. Amanda has Anthony apologize to Kenny, but it ends in a fight between them. Johnny apologizes to Miguel, and they make amends after the latter hits an annoying passenger. Axel and Sam encounter each other on the beach, and he tries kissing her after an encounter with Yoon and Kwon but leaves disappointed after learning she has a boyfriend. Yasmine dumps Demetri after Hawk calls Moon and inadvertently shows Demetri dancing with a Spanish girl at the bar. To get rid of her guilt, Devon calls Kenny and confesses that she was the one who spiked his drink with laxatives recently. Kenny reconciles with Anthony and accepts the trip to Barcelona. After her steady recovery, Carmen tells Johnny and Miguel to return to Barcelona and win. Chozen and Da-eun have a sexual encounter and, along with Daniel and Kreese, find out that Terry Silver was working with Wolf and Dennis to abduct Daniel. Episode 9: “Blood In Blood Out” Three months prior, Silver is freed of all his charges and meets Wolf in Thailand, promising to pay his debts in exchange for buying Iron Dragons and humiliating Miyagi-Do during the Sekai Taikai. Johnny returns to Barcelona with Miguel and Kenny, who is replacing Devon. She apologizes to Kenny, and they make amends. The other team members distrust Kenny, thinking he is secretly working with Silver, so they don’t tag him in the next group challenge. Silver offers Kenny a spot in his dojo, but he refuses and shows him a middle finger after he helps Miyagi-Do win following Robby tagging him. The team celebrates. In order to mess with Silver, Johnny & Chozen decided to exploit Kreese by putting a spa ticket on his locker at the place of the eunjangdo which has gone missing, causing Kreese to punch Silver. Da-eun accuses Chozen for stealing the eunjangdo, and warns him to give it back or it will complicate everything with Kreese turning against him. Miyagi-Do goes against Cobra Kai on the elimination round, and Tory confronts Robby on his hookup with Zara. He learns Kwon messed with him, making him believe there was something between him and Tory. Robby defeats Kwon, making Miyagi-Do advance to the tournament of champions, while Cobra Kai is eliminated. Silver hands Daniel an envelope, showing that Mr. Miyagi killed his opponent during the Sekai Taikai. After Kreese finds his eunjangdo back in the locker, he states it’s not over until he says so. Episode 10: “Eunjangdo” Daniel is confirmed by Gunther the information Silver handed him is legit, clearly upsetting him.Tensions run high as Cobra Kai prepares to return home after being eliminated, only to receive a second chance when it is revealed the Russian dojo Tiger Strike has been disqualified due to four of its students failing a drug test. The Sekai Taikai tournament of champions, consisting of duels between only the captains of the top four teams (Cobra Kai, Iron Dragons, Miyagi-Do and Furia de Pantera), begins with Axel pitted against Robby and Sam and Tory facing each other. Kwon and Zara win their respective matches against their opponents with Kwon’s decisive knockout earning Cobra Kai special points. However, in the match between Axel and Robby, Robby is pushed by Axel into the Cobra Kai students where Kwon elbows him in the ribs with a cheap shot. As Miguel tries to come to his aid, he is knocked down by Axel, as he finds out Miguel is Sam’s boyfriend, setting everyone on edge. Host Gunther Braun warns all the competitors to get off the mats, only to be knocked unconscious by an enraged Sensei Ivanov of Tiger Strike. This ignites a brawl with all the tournament competitors, where Johnny and Daniel face off against Wolf. Robby faces off against the entirety of the Cobra Kai except for Tory who fights Zara. Miguel and Axel duel, and Sam, after beating the Irish girl captain, helps Robby and Tory dispose of Cobra Kai and Zara respectively. Meanwhile, Kreese goes after Silver with his eunjangdo, but it slips out of his belt during the chaos. Upon discovering this, he fights Silver hand-to-hand. Silver sucker punches Kreese and lands more blows on him, until the latter is saved by Johnny. When Kwon attacks Sam, Axel stops his fight with Miguel and attacks Kwon, throwing him into a camera. Kwon then notices the fallen eunjangdo and grabs it, intending to kill Axel. However, Axel counters his attacks, causing Kwon to fall on the knife, fatally impaling his own chest. As everyone stares in shock, Gunther yells for the feed to be cut. Showrunners Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald, and Hayden Schlossberg joined Bingeworthy to discuss spoilers (yes, SPOILER ALERT) for Season 6, Part 1 of the hit series. During the interview, the team discussed their goals for the first five episodes of the epic final season after the fall of Cobra Kai and Terry Silver in the previous season. “As you saw in that first episode, it's about bringing everybody back together,” Hurwitz shared. “Most of the dojo is all in one place and it's bringing them together. And then having Johnny, Daniel, and Chozen go, ‘Okay, we need to figure out our dojo name,' and what's their path going forward?" Much of the initial five episodes of this final season are spent gathering the six team members who will represent the new, united LaRusso and Lawrence dojo in the much-anticipated Sekai Taikai tournament in Barcelona. The showrunners discussed the process of narrowing down the team and constructing a satisfying journey for fans. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theplaylist/support

However, Ryan refuses, accidentally kills Mallory, and leaves, Butcher embraces his dark side of Kessler. Homelander tasks the remaining Seven with eliminating everyone at Vought who has incriminating evidence against them; Ashley injects herself with V. While Frenchie develops the virus, The Boys monitor Singer in a bunker where they discover Annie is the shapeshifter and a fight ensues; the real Annie arrives and kills the shapeshifter. When Homelander reveals that Neuman is a Supe on air live, she calls on Hughie to protect her and Zoe in exchange for help. When The Boys and Neuman meet, Butcher arrives, kills Neuman with his new superpowers, and steals the virus. Sage reveals to Homelander that his plan has been a success when Singer is arrested for conspiring with The Boys to kill Neuman. Speaker of the House Steven Calhoun becomes the new President of the United States, swears allegiance to Homelander and declares martial law, delegating Homelander and his army of superhumans. The rest of The Boys are ambushed and captured by Vought troopers led by Supes but Annie manages to escape. Butcher leaves with the virus. House of the Dragon (HBO Max) Out of 5 Sitting in a Field Wondering Where You Went Wrongs Darryl: 4/5 Brian: 4.14/5 Episode 5: “Regent” Written by: Ti Mikkel Directed by: Clare Kilner Air Date: July 14, 2024 Summary: Corlys, Rhaenyra and Baela mourn Rhaenys’ death. Criston parades Meleys’ head through King’s Landing, though the near-starving smallfolk consider it a bad omen. Aegon has survived but is comatose and severely burned, while Sunfyre is presumed near-dead; Criston withholds telling Alicent what truly happened at the battle. Daemon dreams of incest with his mother, who calls him her favorite son. The Small Council reject Alicent as regent and elect Aemond instead, both because he is male and because they want a dragonrider on the throne. Aemond orders the city gates shut, preventing blacksmith Hugh Hammer and his family from fleeing. Jeyne Arryn tells Rhaena she wanted a mature dragon for protection rather than two dragon hatchlings. At the Twins, Jace obtains the Freys’ allegiance in exchange for Harrenhal. Rhaenyra sends Elinda to King’s Landing to spy. Daemon declares he will reign as king once a large enough army is raised; he orders the Blackwoods to ravage the Brackens and forces their fealty. Alys criticizes his ruthlessness and the riverlords denounce his atrocities. Rhaenyra laments lacking riders for Vermithor and Silverwing, the only dragons large enough to challenge Vhagar; Jace suggests searching other houses for Valyrian descendants. Cobra Kai (Netflix) Out of 10 You Really Are a Cream Puff, but Not Reallys Darryl: 8/10 Brian: 8.58/10 Episode 1: “Peacetime in the Valley” Written by: Bob Dearden Directed by: Joel Novoa Air Date: July 18, 2024 Summary: Following the demise of Cobra Kai, the students of both Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang prepare for the Sekai Taikai. After disagreements over their training styles, Johnny and Chozen challenge each other to a fight. Daniel learns that Chozen’s pride was wounded when Silver stabbed him in the back and Kumiko did not reply to his voice messages. Miguel tries to ease the tension between Sam and Tory while Robby attempts to make amends with Kenny, but he encounters Shawn, who tells him to leave Kenny alone. Robby and Miguel take on Shawn while Sam and Tory try to reason with Kenny into joining their dojo, but to no avail. After receiving a text message, Johnny goes to Coyote Creek, where Stingray tells him to retake the Cobra Kai brand with Kreese and Silver gone. The next morning, Johnny concedes and tells Daniel that Miyagi-Do has the right to represent the students in the Sekai Taikai, but he and Chozen still have their fight. After a talk with Shawn, Kenny joins Miyagi-Do. Elsewhere, Kreese enters Kim Da-eun’s dojo, telling the students that Cobra Kai is back. Episode 2: “The Prize” Written by: Joe Piarulli & Luan Thomas Directed by: Joel Novoa Air Date: July 18, 2024 Summary: Kreese proposes to Master Kim to have his dojo represent Cobra Kai in the Sekai Taikai, only to be turned down after Da-eun’s previous partnership with Silver ended in failure. Master Kim then agrees to the proposal if Kreese ventures to a remote island and recovers his ancient family knife deep within a cave. Kreese finds the knife, but is bitten by an albino cobra, causing him to see hallucinations of Silver and Johnny. Meanwhile, Miguel discovers that Kyler is the subject of hazing by a fraternity that has no plans of letting him in. With the help of Miguel, Demetri, Eli, and Brucks, Kyler takes down the fraternity at their party. After the Diaz apartment experiences a leaky ceiling due to clogged sewage pipes, Johnny gets a sales job at LaRusso Auto Group to save up for a new home. Upon conquering his inner demons and vanquishing his sole weakness, Kreese beheads the cobra and returns to Master Kim with the knife and the dead cobra’s head, determined to not allow anyone to stop him from his goal – not even Johnny. Episode 3: “Sleeper” Written by: Mattea Greene Directed by: Ralph Macchio Air Date: July 18, 2024 Summary: Kreese takes control of the Kim dojo training, focusing on the delinquent Kwon and molding him. That night, after some prodding by Kreese to use his anger for a purpose, Kwon defeats Yoon, the dojo’s top student, in a fight and rips off the King Cobra badge as a personal souvenir, affirming his role as the leader. At the Miyagi house, Daniel, Chozen, and Amanda discover a chest hidden under the floor. Upon opening the chest, they discover Mr. Miyagi co-owned a boxing gym and reportedly fled the country to China after he was wanted for assault and robbery in 1947. After noticing the friendship between Sam and Tory making them weak in their training, Johnny invites them to Devon’s home for a slumber party. Despite Johnny’s plan failing, Sam and Tory suddenly get into an argument before they apologize to each other for their wrongdoings. The next day, the Miyagi-Do dojo learns that the Sekai Taikai will be hosted in Barcelona, and that only six fighters will be allowed to represent each dojo. Episode 4: “Underdogs” Written by: Chris Rafferty Directed by: Sherwin Shilati Air Date: July 18, 2024 In order to determine the six fighters who will represent Miyagi-Do in the Sekai Taikai, Daniel and Johnny bring in Barnes to shake down the dojo. Hawk, Robby, Miguel, Sam, Tory, Mitch, Kenny, Nate, Chris, Demetri, Devon, and Anthony are chosen by Barnes for the second round of eliminations. The next day, the top 12 engage in a battle royale, where each student must rid another of their flags. Tory, Robby, Sam, and Miguel immediately advance. Anthony doubts himself after receiving a bloody nose from Kenny during the battle royale. Johnny confronts Barnes upon learning Devon did not make the cut. The next morning, Barnes has Hawk, Demetri, Devon, and Kenny run through the forest and capture two flags to determine the final lineup. Devon captures the first flag after Kenny suddenly experiences diarrhea while Demetri defeats Hawk to make the team. Kenny accuses Anthony of spiking his water with Mitch’s laxative, when in reality it was Devon, while Daniel suspects Johnny had a part in getting Devon in the lineup. Episode 5: “Best of the Best” Written by: Michael Jonathan Smith Directed by: Sherwin Shilati Air Date: July 18, 2024 Summary: Tory encounters Kreese while returning from the Medical Center, who warns her not to trust Miyagi-do. Daniel and Johnny decide have Sam, Tory, Miguel, and Robby fight each other to secure their spots as team captains. Tory returns home, only to discover her mother has passed away due to an undetected blood clot. On the day of the contest, Robby defeats Miguel to become male captain. During the girls’ fight, Tory displays aggression and is about to score the winning point when Daniel intervenes before she reveals to everyone of her mother’s death and leaves the team, forfeiting the female captain position to Sam. This incident causes an argument between Daniel and Johnny over how they should have handled the situation. Hawk is selected to take over Tory’s spot in the team, with Demetri being slightly displeased at the turn of events. As Robby and Sam are given their captain headbands, Daniel suddenly recognizes a similar headband from Mr. Miyagi’s chest and realizes his sensei fought in the Sekai Taikai too as a team captain and that his headband was actually bloodied at the ends, making Daniel question his beliefs. The Miyagi-Do team arrives in Barcelona for the tournament, where they encounter Kreese and Da-eun’s new four-member Cobra Kai representing South Korea, led by Kwon and Tory.
