Greg Jenner is joined in western Europe by historian Dr Serena Dyer and comedian and actor Vic Michaelis to learn all about the hidden history of underwear. For as long as people have been wearing clothes, they have been wearing garments under them – Romans at Hadrian's Wall were sent underpants, and even Ötzi the Iceman was discovered wearing a form of undergarment. But what were people wearing before the invention of underwires and elastic, so essential to our modern conceptions of underwear? This episode traces the history of our underthings in western Europe and the USA from the medieval period, through the Tudor, Regency and Victorian eras, and into the modern day. Moving around the body, it takes in the linen shifts and shirts that were the universal undergarment for much of history, the development of drawers and stockings, and the shockingly recent invention of knickers and briefs. It also tackles stays and corsets, asking whether they were really as painful as film and TV depictions suggest, and looking at the reliability of on-screen underwear in programmes like ‘Bridgerton'. If you're a fan of fashion trends of the past, evolving views on beauty and the body, and debunking historical myths, you'll love our episode on the history of underwear. If you want more historical fashion and beauty trends, check out our episodes on the History of High Heels, Renaissance Beauty and haircare entrepreneur Madam CJ Walker. Our thoughts on the season 2 finale of X-Men '97!
Cathy and Todd discuss Top Gun: Maverick to complete their summer blockbuster series, the 2022 legacy sequel that brought Tom Cruise back to the role that made him famous, three decades (and a pandemic delay) later. They talk about Val Kilmer’s real battle with throat cancer and how it shaped his return as Iceman, discuss the film’s themes of grief, legacy, and mentorship, debate why Jon Hamm’s character is such a dick, and share Cathy’s deeply conflicted feelings about Tom Cruise, who happens to look a lot like Todd. They also discussed the original Top Gun (1986) earlier in the summer, click here to listen: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/top-gun-episode-871/id414414318?i=1000770790944 Subscribe to Cathy's weekly Zen Moment and upgrade to hear a weekly Zen Moment podcast hosted by Cathy and Todd! LET'S GET INTO SADIE SINK'S ROLE IN SPIDER-MAN BRAND NEW DAY! A lot to say and discuss!
We're diving into the "Iceman's" latest finesse as Drake reportedly blames his massage therapist for his sudden obsession with Karol G's waistline—but the crew isn't buying the story for a second. The Homie Helpline gets absolutely unhinged as listeners call in with the most diabolical fantasy football punishments, including a full drag photo shoot and a guy forced to pick up numbers at a gay bar. Don't You Know I'm Local, so you know we noticed Klay Thompson trying to stay "low-key" in a hat at the OC Fair while on a very public date with a mystery woman. Plus, we're sounding the alarm on "chaffa" squishy toys that might be toxic and celebrating Punch the Monkey, the zoo's favorite "step-dad" who finally got his revenge on the bullies. Finally, we debate if taking a girl to the fair is officially a "date" or if you're just a "friend" who's really good at winning stuffed animals. [Edited by @iamdyre

The boys are back with a Chicago deep-dish-sized recap of their week in the Windy City, complete with all the toppings. There's golf course debauchery, glizzies, expired liquor, OVERSIZED liquor, Michelin star gluttony, and more. Oddly enough, all of that is nearly eclipsed when Ace-J exposes the boys to the BIBO Cinematic Universe. We're not saying the Iceman is planning to trade in his Tesla for a lowrider... but we're not NOT saying that either. Speaking of movies, if you thought a little trip to the Midway would keep the boys from seeing the biggest movie on earth, you'd be sorely mistaken. And if you're among the eight people who haven't seen Spider-Man Brand New Day, consider this your warning: THERE WILL BE SPOILERS... possibly even a few tears shed. That's right, give it up... and have a listen, carnal.

Wim Hof, the Iceman, joins Tim Gray to explain why the five senses are only the beginning, how he switched off an E. coli immune response using nothing but breath and cold, and why he believes the nervous system has far more autonomy than science has ever admitted.
Robert Wringham in conversation with David Eastaugh https://wringham.co.uk/film/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54J_1Be63q4 In the 1980s and 1990s, Anthony Irvine was a comedian and cabaret performer. His act was a little unusual. As the Iceman, he went on stage… to melt ice. Literally. He'd bring a large block of ice onto the stage then proceed to melt it (or fail to melt it) in a variety of creative ways. Among his fans were Mike Myers, Jo Brand, and Bill Bailey. In 2010, when Robert Wringham wrote his book about this era of comedy, the Iceman could not be found. But a couple of years later, Anthony Irvine popped up again. This time as a visual artist called aim. What was going on? How much permanence and success can we assure for this man whose entire act was about impermanence and failure? The blocks live on! Starring ANTHONY IRVINE and ROBERT WRINGHAM with RONNI ANCONA, ROBIN INCE, STEWART LEE, NEIL MULLARKEY, SIMON MUNNERY, MARK THOMAS, and JO BRAND.

AJ returns from the Big D with a harsh lesson about living that truck life. The Iceman has big time donut beef (if that's even a thing). The boys plot their summer time misadventures in the Windy City before turning their collective attention to the Avengers Doomsday trailer. Speaking of the MCU, the guys are still all in on X-Men '97, as they navigate all the chaos of season 2 thus far (to include what sounds like a Wakandan Apocalypse). They close the show with a flurry, tackling the WSOP's return to ESPN, the World Cup's exit, the NBA's complete upheaval, and Will Farrell's plan to take over R&B music.

If there's one thing we know about Dracula, it's that he's supposed to be sexy. Not so much on Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, where the "Bride of Dracula" episode makes the famous vampire decidedly unappealing. Firestar gets kidnapped to be his bride and is therefore out of commission for almost this entire episode, much to our chagrin. Meanwhile, Spider-Man and Iceman spend the whole episode ragging on each other and competing over Firestar in the process of trying to rescue her, which isn't that fun to watch either. We do make it fun to recap, though, and we also manage to make several references to Castlevania and Ryan's self-insert fanfiction about his vampire OC Fearix Wolfgang. Another quickie but a goodie. AJ's choosing a new phone carrier, you can tell by the way he's two-stepping around the (show)room. Yack is still mourning the loss of his MK cabinet but could a KILLER replacement be en route? Iceman can't negotiate his way out of a wet paper bag. Welp, the technical problems persist. Seriously someone buy me a mac, everyone says they are bulletproof for this nonsense. In this episode I revisit the flock camera thing with some feedback from friend of the show Iceman of the Motorcop Chronicles Podcast. Also I briefly discuss the current nonsense coming out of the leftist clowns and their DSA endorsements. Then we spend about 20 minutes talking about making a new product and potential delivery vectors for it. It seriously might be a thing. We'll have to see if I can make it work. Anyways, go do the things, support the show, help finance the madness we discussed. Seriously, I'm doing it so if you listen and decide you want to be a lab rat for it, get a hold of me via either the website, shoot me an email, or hit me up on any of the socials. Also, I didn't think of mentioning this in the show, but I am going to add a poll. Last week I was told posting the vido on spotify was good. I may start doing that every week even if I get my computer situation remedied. So for this week there is another video episode, but if I am still in the same boat next week I am going back to audio only for the posted episode. It will take longer on this machine, but I feel like the un-cut stuff is tedious to listen to.

Finally hearing about a behavioral problem from your kid's teacher, that he likes reading too much. Doing the social norms because you are in a group who is all doing the social norms. Otzi the Preserved Carcass. A pretty dang old guy. An ice-age man with almost as many tattoos as a modern teenager. Gen X Cuspers. The earliest known human with Lyme disease. Wanting to make a gutstring bow but there are no guts around. What being any celebrity is like. What percentage of humans are related to Otzi the Ice Man. Being chased through the alps by people who want to kill you with arrows and the next thing you know scientists are rummaging through your stomach contents. An ancient form of Grindr. How old does a corpse need to be before you can buy and sell it? How lost does a corpse need to be before you can find it? Which natural laxatives the ice man used.

Send us Fan Mail(Eddie lead in)The bums are back in the rail yard with S6:E0156, tapping dancing our way through more sports drivel in the first half; Frosty the Iceman has spoken on the Bears new home; Kevin Warren needs to pack his bags; Lord Stanley of Preston trophy winner; Blackhawk star Connor Bedard on the couch for 4 months; in NBA news, Eddie is not happy with the Spurs coaching (period); other chatter turns to a very long Empire State draught; Kawhi (pronounced Kauai) Leonard is firmly in the Tree Charity enterprise and could possibly be in some trouble; Cubs legend Anthony Rizzo spills the beans on teammate Yu Darvish (and his bad habit in the pachinkos); MLB's golden 'Day Game' era is discussed; hot wife haver Justin Verlander is hanging up his spikes; the Future of PGA golf is a changing, and not everyone is liking it; and close the top with talk of degenerate, shitbag, gambling addict Brendan Sorsby who heads the way of the Supplementals. The flip side begins with another infamous beer review, on the Cincinnati line with Sonder Brewing's “You Betcha!” (ABV 6.5%), a hoppy and hazy New England IPA, a uniquely crafted juicy that is softer on the palate than expected, somewhat less bitter but not too sweet (Rocky's pet peeve: switching gears, Eddie has had it with TV series The Bear (the Bataan death march of shows mercifully wraps); Irish exit protocol among family and friends is debated (or at least explained by way of example); the rise of Summer time ‘mini-fests' is discovered; a bums summer travelogue with copious amounts of the Union Pier Grotto is recounted; and close with a loopback to 4th of July movie classic, “Jaws”, complete with awesome, old school beer sightings. P.S. The Bums of Manarchy have just eclipsed 7,500 downloads — thank you to our listening audience (both of you). “I'm going to play wherever there's a field that measures 120 by 53⅓ yards, marked with white lines and two end zones.”,” —Frosty the Iceman (aka Caleb Williams), on the Chicago Bears stadium situation.Recorded on July 9th, 2026 at B.O.M.'s global headquarters, Paddy's Southside Cave, in Chicago, IL.
It's an action packed hour to say the least. The guys let the pyro smoke clear and put America's 250th birthday firmly in the rearview. Iceman tries to distract himself from all the Taylor Swift news by spending his days at the movies... unfortunately, the quality of those movies leave something to be desired. Not to be outdone, Yogging Yack shares some sad (and soggy) news regarding a certain piece of show lore. Seriously, if you're a fan of video games, this story's not for the faint of heart. You've been warned.

The fellas break down the rest of the UFC 329 card, including Paddy Pimblett's submission over Benoit Saint-Denis in the co-main event, Mario Bautista getting the nod over Cory Sandhagen plus Brandon Royval and King Green both win. Welcome back to a Monday edition of Morning Kombat, Donks. Luke Thomas and Chuck Mindenhall are in the house getting you ready for UFC 329. Max Holloway hasn't received much attention, it's been all on Conor leading up to this week. So LT and The Iceman start there - What is the biggest question surrounding Holloway as we head towards Saturday's showdown? UFC lightweight Maurcio Ruffy took to social media (and reports confirmed) that he is serving as the backup for the UFC 329 main event. Was this the right choice and how does he match up with either McGregor or Holloway? Plus it was reported that middleweights-turned-light-heavyweights Reinier de Ridder and Roman Dolidze will face off on August 22nd at a Fight Night in Sacramento. How do these two match up? That and much more with the MK crew!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In hour 2, the guys discuss the rejection of the Iceman trademark that Caleb Williams applied for & why the Bears can’t have nice things + another one-of-a-kind edition of Rei Rei’s Roulette! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
