The iconic highway Route 66 is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The so-called “Mother Road” went through large stretches of Illinois and Missouri on its two-thousand-mile trek from Chicago to Los Angeles. Historian Andrew Wanko from the Missouri Historical Society recently spoke with St. Louis on the Air host Elaine Cha about the legacy of Route 66 and its origins in Springfield, Missouri.

Here's what we reviewed: THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2. Twenty years later, everyone's back at Runway magazine, but Runway magazine is a shell of its former self. This is a sad movie about the state of modern journalism, but the clothes are still fun. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt star. This one's gonna be huge. In theaters. THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA (2006). Of course we had to go back and review the original film, which was a massive, crowd-pleasing hit that remains infinitely meme-able. It's the definition of the breezy, escapist rom-com. The sequel is very different. HOKUM. Adam Scott goes to Ireland and stays in a charming, countryside inn. Weird things start happening. Writer-director Damian McCarthy's film is a trip, and Scott is great in it. In theaters. MILE END KICKS. We both loved this romantic comedy, which takes place in the cool Montreal neighborhood of Mile End. "Mile End Kicks" is a 2025 Canadian romantic comedy film written and directed by Chandler Levack. Based in part on Levack's own young adulthood before becoming a professional music critic and filmmaker, the film stars Barbie Ferreira as Grace Pine, a young woman who moves to Montreal, Quebec, in 2011 to write a book about Alanis Morissette's album Jagged Little Pill but instead becomes romantically involved with Archie (Devon Bostick) and Chevy (Stanley Simons), two members of the aspiring indie rock band Bone Patrol, and takes a job as the band's publicist. The cast also includes Jay Baruchel, Juliette Gariépy, Robert Naylor, Emily Lê, Hasani Freeman, Magi Merlin, and Isaiah Lehtinen. The film had its world premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, where it received positive reviews. Levack was kind enough to spend some time talking with us about her work and experience making the film, which you can listen to below. A judge ruled that the Pentagon's recent restrictions on the press are unconstitutional.
