Call it confidence. Call it image. Call it self-worth. But we all have someone in our life that struggles with low self-esteem. My friend John from the mental health non-profit, Heart Support joined me to teach us how we can communicate better with those around us who are struggling to feel like they've got what it takes. He breaks down a simple framework for identifying why someone is struggling, along with tactical steps and a live role-play of the hope THEY need to hear, in order to find healing. I hope you get as much out of this convo that I did- my favorite one to date. A lot of us feel stuck right now. Almost slightly betrayed. Like things are supposed to be normal by now. I don’t know about you, but I’ve spent the better majority of my life like my 6-year-old son in the back seat of the car - “are we there yet?” It’s seldom that I actually come to peace with where I’m at in life and trust that God has me exactly where I’m supposed to be. But this morning was one of those moments. So if you’re feeling stuck in winter… stuck in isolation… or for no reason at all, I hope this brings you hope.Get new episodes on your phone by subscribing: iPhone/Apple Podcasts: https://apple.co/3mx7jxl Spotify: https://spoti.fi/3as5AHg Android/Google Podcasts: https://bit.ly/2LLaB3n Join the Comeback Story support group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/comebackstory Join the newsletter at mycomebackstory.comMusic Credits:Flight of the Inner Bird, instrumental version by Sivan-Talmor Finding My Memories, instrumental version by Sivan-Talmor Mentioned in this episode: I Will Wait (Live) - David Leonard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6IdvER0Bfo
PARENTS! If you struggle to connect with your kids, listen to this! Jaco and I sat down to talk about the struggles that Gen Z kids face, and what we as mentors & parents can do to help those from a very misunderstood generation lead more fulfilling lives. Jaco is a father, husband, Marine, and missionary who spends his time wrenching on bikes with "mobile" or at-risk youth. Through this, he's learned a great deal about how to build influence and meaningful relationships with today's youth. The best part is, it's not complicated. I hope you enjoy our conversation as much as I did. Have a question or topic? Send it to brady@mycomebackstory.com or message me on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/comebackstorypodcast. These are questions that I & most human beings have wrestled with at one point or another. Today, I'm asking a smarter friend for answers. His name is Hugh Heinrichsen. He has his bachelors in psychology and masters in family & marriage counseling. But more importantly, he's infinitely curious and loves helping people exactly where they are.
