Chris Skoglund (Pastor of Recreation & Family Ministries), "Do You Recognize Him?.", Baptism Video, Children's Time, Modern Worship Praise Team (11:15 Service).       1.  After a long time, in the third year, the word of the Lord came to Elijah: “Go and present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the land.”  2.  So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab.       Now the famine was severe in Samaria,  3.  and Ahab had summoned Obadiah, his palace administrator. (Obadiah was a devout believer in the Lord.   4.  While Jezebel was killing off the Lord's prophets, Obadiah had taken a hundred prophets and hidden them in two caves, fifty in each, and had supplied them with food and water.)  5.  Ahab had said to Obadiah, “Go through the land to all the springs and valleys. Maybe we can find some grass to keep the horses and mules alive..”        7.  As Obadiah was walking along, Elijah met him. Obadiah recognized him, bowed down to the ground, and said, “Is it really you, my lord Elijah?”       8.  “Yes,” he replied. “Go tell your master, ‘Elijah is here.'”       9.  “What have I done wrong,” asked Obadiah, “that you are handing your servant over to Ahab to be put to death?  10.  As surely as the Lord your God lives, there is not a nation or kingdom where my master has not sent someone to look for you. And whenever a nation or kingdom claimed you were not there, he made them swear they could not find you.   11. But now you tell me to go to my master and say, ‘Elijah is here.'      15.  Elijah said, “As the Lord Almighty lives, whom I serve, I will surely present myself to Ahab today.”      16.  So Obadiah went to meet Ahab and told him, and Ahab went to meet Elijah.  17.  When he saw Elijah, he said to him, “Is that you, you troubler of Israel?”       18.  “I have not made trouble for Israel,” Elijah replied. “But you and your father's family have."      30.  Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come here to me.” They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the Lord, which had been torn down.  31.  Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Your name shall be Israel.”  32.  With the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord, and he dug a trench around it large enough to hold two seahs of seed.  33.  He arranged the wood, cut the bull into pieces and laid it on the wood. Then he said to them, “Fill four large jars with water and pour it on the offering and on the wood.”       34.  “Do it again,” he said, and they did it again.       “Do it a third time,” he ordered, and they did it the third time.  35.  The water ran down around the altar and even filled the trench.       36.  At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: “Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. 37.  Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.”       38.  Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.       39.  When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The Lord—he is God! The Lord—he is God!”       (I Kings 18:1-5; 7-11; 15-18; 30-39 NIV)

We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there.  14.  One of those listening was a woman from the city of Thyatira named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul's message.  15.  When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. “If you consider me a believer in the Lord,” she said, “come and stay at my house.” And she persuaded us.          25.  About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.  26.  Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone's chains came loose.  27.  The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped.  28.  But Paul shouted, “Don't harm yourself! We are all here!”          29.  The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas.  30.  He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”          31.  They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”  32.  Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house.  33.  At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized.  34.  The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole household.          35.  When it was daylight, the magistrates sent their officers to the jailer with the order: “Release those men.”  36.  The jailer told Paul, “The magistrates have ordered that you and Silas be released. Now you can leave. Go in peace.”          37.  But Paul said to the officers: “They beat us publicly without a trial, even though we are Roman citizens, and threw us into prison. And now do they want to get rid of us quietly? No! Let them come themselves and escort us out.”          38.  The officers reported this to the magistrates, and when they heard that Paul and Silas were Roman citizens, they were alarmed.  39.  They came to appease them and escorted them from the prison, requesting them to leave the city.    40.  After Paul and Silas came out of the prison, they went to Lydia's house, where they met with the brothers and sisters and encouraged them. Then they left.          (Acts 16:13-15; 25-40 NIV)

And he sat down and taught the people from the boat.  4.  And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”  5.  And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.”  6.  And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking.          7.  They signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.  8.  But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.”  9.  For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish that they had taken,  10.  and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon.
