Passive job seekers make up most of the market today. You are passive if you are in a job right now, open to a new or better opportunity. Some statistics say everyone is passive between 2-7 years in a company, but it can start as early as day one. You can be open and actively applying, or just open and thinking about it. "Happy in my job right now but willing to hear something better" is also considered passive. Passive job seeking is unique as you are typically in a confidential search and also preserving the job you have right now as it is not guaranteed if or when you might leave. Some of my usual job seeking tips are relevant, but there are a few exceptions and special situations that passive job seekers should consider. I have listed 5 considerations for you: 1.
