All of us choose to live for some kind of vision – but is it the best vision – the one that will have the most impact – that will ultimately satisfy. Too often the Bible is seen as nothing more than a collection of writings and books that at times have little to do with one another. Fewer and fewer people understand the grand narrative of the Bible – it is one story that starts in Genesis and concludes in Revelation. The Bible is constantly under scrutiny and criticism as to whether it is truly the words of God. This has happened for centuries. This message will focus on the evidence for the resurrection and it will focus on five pieces of evidence presented – Christ actually died – he was buried – he rose again – he appeared to his followers – there was radical life change among his followers. This will be a very apologetic style message about the resurrection and will ultimately focus on the reality of who Jesus said he was and how the resurrection verifies that. This message will focus on the idea that we all will have to stand before God the judge – who will want us to provide the evidence of why we deserve to spend eternity with him. We will provide a series of character witnesses who will detail our good deeds. The man in heaven’s court will start to sense some confidence because of all the good he has done. Then the judge will demonstrate that good deeds are not enough to satisfy heaven’s justice. The man will realize that he is in big trouble – the judge will then ask if there is anyone who can speak on this man’s behalf before judgment is pronounced. This message is all about deciding what to do with Jesus and it will focus on this story that Jesus told about the tenants. It will focus on the one phrase – The stone that the builders rejected has become the capstone – everyone who falls on the stone will be broken but he whom it falls on will be crushed. This calls for a decisions to be made by all of us On Palm Sunday as Jesus came into Jerusalem people were forced to make a choice about Jesus – what to do make of him – what to do with him – we will tie that into the message.File Download (45:41 min / 241 MB)

This message focuses on the right spiritual attitude when it comes to approaching God. The Pharisee was all about how much he did – the rules he followed – the money he gave in contrast to the tax collector who approached with a broken and contrite and humble spirit.File Download (46:38 min / 246 MB)

We will look at two connected stories that Jesus told that are focused on his second coming. The first story is that of the ten virgins which reminds us of the unexpected nature of the return of Jesus. The second story is that of the talents which reminds us that we need to be using our gifts and talents – taking risks – investing them in kingdom business – while we are waiting for the return of Jesus.File Download (48:54 min / 251 MB)

We will explore this parable from the perspective that Jesus was actually talking about two prodigals—the younger, overtly rebellious son, and the older, self righteous brother. We will look at how we as individuals and as a church can use the inspiration and teaching of this parable to create a community that welcomes all kinds of prodigals, and that extends ourselves to the world as a result of a personal experience with the unconditional love of God.File Download (45:18 min / 232 MB)

Forgiving someone can be hard. Forgiving someone a second time can be harder. What about the third time… the fourth time… and the fifth time? How many times do we need to forgive someone? Peter, the disciple who continually tried and promised what he could not deliver, asked Jesus this question. He was not ready for Jesus’ answer. Jesus told a parable about a CEO who was willing to forgive an employee a million dollar debt. Yet, this same employee, was not only unwilling to forgive a friend who owed him a few dollars, but had him thrown into jail. When the CEO heard about this, he had the employee tortured until he paid back what he actually owed. Jesus said His Father would treat everyone who acted like this, this same way. We must be willing to forgive everyone, because God is willing to forgive us (a greater debt than we owe anyone) over and over and over again.File Download (42:06 min / 218 MB)

Sin is a word that we have removed from our vocabulary and replaced it with words that minimize what sin is all about - that there is a moral absolute - uncomfortable with the guilt when we have fallen short of Gods standard. We have therefore minimized the whole concept of sin - in doing so we have maximized the consequences of sin - we watch it continually mess up the lives of people.File Download (38:05 min / 196 MB)

When it comes to sex - our culture has bought into the lie that it is only physical and that there should be no boundaries around sexuality. This lie erodes our capacity for intimacy - it leaves a scare on our soul - it can mess up our current and future relational world - it can put us offside with God. God had a reason for why sexuality belonged in the marriage relationship only - we will look at those benefits and why it makes sense to do it Gods way and not buy into the lie.File Download (38:20 min / 203 MB)

When pain and suffering comes into our lives we tend to see it from a here and now perspective - looking backward at what might have caused it - looking to the present to find a purpose in our pain and suffering. The evil one wants us to look at pain and suffering from simply a temporal point of view and blame God for it all - hopefully driving us away from a close relationship with God. This message will focus on the importance of having an eternal perspective and seeing the purpose in light of eternity.File Download (45:05 min / 239 MB)
