In Jesus' parable, the story ends abruptly—left open on purpose. Why? Because we're the ones who finish it. The questions it leaves us with are powerful: Which brother are you? What's keeping you from the celebration? Can you embrace grace—for others and yourself? How will your story end? And what kind of church are we becoming? (Talk by Joshua Ott)

Here's my message for prodigals and Pharisees: You can come home. You can come in. Come to your senses. Prodigals, look around at where you sin has taken you, what it's taken from you. Pharisees, look at what your self-justification has done to you. The irritation, the hard heart, the critical spirit, the anger at sinners. You have a father who is not abusive, hard to please, or distant. You have a Father who runs with arms wide open.  

On June 2, about 25 years ago, our prodigal, Josh, met Jesus. He was living at House of Hope, a nearby residential home for troubled teens. His house dad, Mike, loved him, prayed for him, sought to guide him into better life choices, and on June 2, 1997, he introduced our son to Jesus. That evening Mike baptized him in the nearby lake. Josh's life changed then, and when he came home months later. He wanted to walk with God. But wrong friends and the trauma of his early life put him on a roller coaster. He would do well and make good choices for days, weeks, even months. Then down he would go for many months. Two pastors describe the challenges they've experienced with prodigals — who grew up in loving, Christian families, yet were far from God. But through unconditional love and godly hope, their prodigals were restored and now serve in ministry today.

It's easy to categorize those who leave their faith as prodigals. But how many prodigals are still active in church? Two pastors share their experience with prodigals and the valuable spiritual lessons God taught them about unconditional love and accountability.

As with the Tokyo citybook, this was a Year of the Lotus supplement that was ostensibly for all the oWoD gamelines, but in truth was more vampire-centric than anything.
