Have you wondered why the Church meets on Sunday rather than the Sabbath?

"All the days of the afflicted are evil, but he who is of a merry heart has a continual feast." How is your heart? Are you feasting continually? How does our experience with God change all of our other experiences?

Are you afraid to die? In times of uncertainty we all make decisions based on something, are you making your decisions based on fear of death? Sometimes being afraid to die means we are also afraid to live fully. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but by me." Are you coming to the Father through Jesus Christ?

How should we respond to the Corona Virus response? Pastor Joseph looks at the response as a pastor and a storyteller. Which are you struggling with the most, the virus or other people's response to the virus?

Is it possible to be transparent and honest with others even if they are not being completely transparent and honest with us? Is it necessary? How much should a Believer keep things to themselves versus sharing struggles openly?

Paul the Ambassador. Current circumstance? In chains. Battle ready? Yes, fully armed. Have you ever considered how many of God's Ambassadors have been in chains or difficult circumstances?

When Adam and Eve were tempted they gave in to temptation and ate. When Jesus was tempted He refused to partake but rather resisted until the devil left and the angels came. The whole purpose of the Armor of God is to equip us in the necessary disciplines during the boring times so we will be able to stand during the times of attack. When you face temptation, does it end with the devil fleeing and the angels coming?

How have you prayed? How has God answered? Do you have a sense of a listening God who will respond to your prayer? This message explores some of the ways the Bible speaks of the prayers of the saints. May you be encouraged to pray boldly and expectantly.

The Word of God - the Sword of the Spirit. A powerful weapon in our armor. Are we intimidated by those who say they don't believe in our weapon? This message contains a parable concerning a village in which everybody was commissioned with a Sword, until one day a dark stranger started hanging around the village square. May this parable strengthen you in your faith as you continually wield the Sword of the Spirit. The Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus I take the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Teach me Lord to carry it well, to use it effectively. Let Your Word rule in my heart and in my mind today. Thank you for equipping me with this strong weapon. Teach us to apply your Word to every aspect of our lives.

When you think of a helmet, what comes to mind as the thing you are trying to protect? The Helmet of Salvation seems to protect our minds, eyes, ears, and mouth. The Prayer: Father, I take the helmet of salvation. I want to think your thoughts after you and take every other thought captive. Give me your eyes that I might see with an eternal perspective. I choose to speak your word to myself and to others. Give me ears to hear what you are saying to me and to your people. I will think and meditate on You- and on whatever is noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report; Lord you are all these and you are virtuous and worthy of praise.

Among the rest of the armor, the shield may be the most clanky piece that seems to get in your way the most when you're just trying to enjoy life. How much does your faith interfere with your daily life? Are you forced to interact with it constantly? A constant awareness of who Christ is in every circumstance we face exercises and activates our faith.

Some of the pieces of armor suggest protection, or fighting, but this one suggests traveling. Going somewhere. Are your feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace so that you can walk into every situation knowing that your God is fighting for you?

The Breastplate of Righteousness is positioned to protect our heart- the origin of our belief. What are you doing to protect your believer?

Many times we echo Pilate's question, "What is truth?' Hoping that the truth will exonerate us and not convict us. However, we often think of truth as logic and reason that can be printed on a page, instead of a person. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." When you consider Truth, have you ever asked, "Who is Truth"?

We are all in the battle. It is not an option. The world, the flesh, and the devil are waging warfare against everything that God wants to do in your life. When the Apostle Paul writes about the armor of God, he isn't just inviting you to come join a battle, he is inviting you to win through the power of Christ. Are you actively winning in this battle?

The Sunday after Christmas is technically not part of Advent, but in this series this message deals with walking forward from Christmas. Specifically, the high point of the message of Christmas is for all seasons of the year. How well do you walk with God in the space between hearing His voice?

There are several different kinds of peace we enjoy. We find external peace when our surroundings are peaceful, such as a mountain lake on an autumn day. We enjoy being with people when we are at peace in our relationship, and we have experienced the bitterness of not being at peace in a relationship. But there is one peace that is worth more than all the other types of peace- and that is peace with our Creator. What cost are you willing to pay to have peace with your Creator?

One of the greatest revelations many of us will ever have is the realization that while we are searching for God, He is walking with us. The Christmas miracle of Emmanuel, God with us, is cause for joy no matter the circumstances! What is the context from which you are looking to Jesus for your audacious joy?

Faith has something to do with responding to God's Word like Mary did, like John the Baptist did, and like the widow in the Temple did. But sometimes walking in faith takes years. Do you have the stamina to show up again and again with an expectant heart of faith?

When we look around us we don't always feel hopeful. But one of the beautiful things about hope is that it thrives in places of darkness- when those who sit in the darkness look up and see the light of Christ. Are you one of those who has been taught to hope because you have seen the light of Christ while you were sitting in darkness?

"There's a land that is fairer than day".....these are words of a much beloved hymn that we often sing. The chorus says, "In the sweet bye and bye, we shall rest on that beautiful shore." As Believers we do look forward to that day when we will be with Jesus in glory, but what about now? Is this sin cursed globe just a place for us to hang on until Jesus rescues us and takes us home? Can we walk in the intersection of the pain and suffering here and the light of eternity, there?
