Today we look at what to do if your spouse has experienced trauma and how to support and love them in a way that honors their journey. It is so easy to want to "fix" them or challenge them to go faster but there are things we often do in our good intentions that can derail their process. Here are some ways to be mindful of their needs and yours.
Once you have identified some painful events from your past, it is important to go on a journey of unhooking and desensitizing so you can be fully present in your marriage and love your spouse in a way that honors them and honors God. In this episode, we explore some next steps we all need to take so that we can be fully present / mindful in our marriage.
The way we interpret negative events has such power and we often create unhealthy messages that affect our relationships. In this episode, we look at Broc's negative beliefs and how they have impacted his marriage and how to start the process of reframing those thoughts to lead to better health and ultimately to a better future.
As we continue our journey into the power of our past over our present, we take a look into Broc's past and the things that caused him pain. Our hope is that this process will be an example of how meaningful and accessible this process can be for you.
Trauma and negative experiences, especially at an early age, can easily turn into the lens or filter in which we see the world. When those limiting beliefs, negative beliefs or shame messaging are guiding our relationships then we can experience a significant debilitating impact in having good relationships. It's time to reframe and heal our lenses.
The Apostle Paul stated that he hated that the good he wanted to do, he could not do. He was trapped.
