Pink Salt is a podcast that focuses on exploring and understanding how people make relationships work despite the pressure to conform to a societal norm. We’re not experts. We’re your early 2000’s magazine's sex-love-and-horoscope column in audio form. We have conversations, not interviews.
This episode marks the end of the faith series with David Suarez. We finally breach the topic of evolution - macro and micro - and how it relates to the christian argument against sex trafficking. Additionally, we discuss the question of instructions and direction of cells which brought us somewhere I did not expect: purpose vs. direction. Where so we find purpose? Is this a trendy word in modern culture that's getting conveniently conflated with direction? Though David's resolve is controversial, there might be more freedom within it to be curious and more security to move with less resistance where life takes you. From there we take it to consenting sex play and objectification, and why it's important for that consent to be honest. We end this series with some self reflection. Thank you, David, for an amazing four weeks!
David is back for the third episode in his faith series, and we clearly need more than four episodes. You can hear me working out a lot of ideas and opinions and thoughts in this episode. That means we didn't really even scratch the surface of the topics we were supposed to get to. We get into why sex trafficking is the strongest argument against non-monogamy as per other world view systems, moral development in relationship to holy books, and the paradox of meditation apps. I love when David says “I reject that.” This will surely be integrated into my daily vernacular. #biggesttakeaway
In part two of our faith discussion, David and I got through so many topics and tangents. We start off at physics and apologetics - the argument that changed his career trajectory. From there we get into the paradoxes of the universe, the point of life, and the connection goodness has to pain, grief and suffering. Of God, David says, "He's not lonely. He makes creation because he wants to share the beauty of his creation with his creation." Such a quotable guy!
David Suarez is one of the most intelligent people that anyone who has met him will ever know. Initially, David and I were meant to discuss the thesis of an apologetics paper he is writing on his position of Christianity. As it turns out, neither of us could stop talking; so in celebration of Easter, this is the first of a four part series on God, faith, and religion. Godspeed.
Jaimie and Jake are the hosting duo of The Strictly Stalking Podcast. Jake is a producer who hired Jaimie onto a Lifetime movie as a casting director, and that's when they decided to continue working together as podcast producers. This episode was meant to cover the ins and outs of their business relationship, and while we touch on those things, the victim-stalker relationships that they cover in their work became incredibly interesting. One is a planner, the other is a free spirit, and the yin and yang of them have brought awareness and advocacy to this sector of true crime that is so difficult to spot and prove. Thank you Jaimie and Jake for a wonderfully insightful episode. Have you ever asked your best friend to give you their perspective on your romantic relationship? They've probably got to be a pretty great friend for you to actually listen, maybe even a twin flame. Chase and Heston are two actors in a once in a lifetime bromance which has been cosigned by CoStar, Human Design and their Soul Contracts. In this episode, we remember the beginnings of their friendship, when spoilers lead to fights, and how having your man on set makes your happy place even happier. Any girl who gets involved with one of them romantically might be forever doomed to second place, but how lucky for her to know them both!In This Episode:The EggThe Misadventures of Vince and Hick
Jacy is an old friend of mine who was recently married to Dylan, a younger man from a different racial background. Who cares? They are both Sagittarius, they both love a tractor, and they both find their next vacation in the direction of the wind. In this episode they talk to us about timing, expectations and setting the bar, and apologies. If there's a such thing as being too honest or feeling too much loyalty to a f$%& boy, it has worked out in their favor. Exception to the rule? Let's find out.
People approach dating apps with all sorts of intentions, from getting laid to getting hitched and everything in between. Part of that in between is just not knowing what you want from dating apps, or maybe that's just what we say when we want to manage expectations. Kyra and RJ give us one of the most candid conversations including an “open” past, looking for sex, their age gap, and a most awkward moment. To top it off, what goes into buying a house together? This is a story of when “not looking for anything” leads to exactly what is meant to be - and maybe fate even played a small part. And Tarzan says ‘hi.'
This episode pays tribute to all of the horror stories that lead us naturals to finally loving our hair. No matter what color or gender we are, our hair carries so much weight in our journey into self-worth. Many of us with textured hair grew up believing the nature of our hair is limited. How wrong we were! We cover so many topics from the Scarf Gods to styling for film and tv. By the end of this episode you will be just as in love with Julienne's laugh as I am, and hopefully more in love with your own hair whatever it looks like - natural, braided, straight, bald, etc. And if not, XTREME GEL Wet Line should do the trick. In This Episode:@curls.la_ashley@toijovan Xtreme Gel [wet line]Dyson Supersonic
"I have a theory that if you interview 1,000 couples, you will get 1,000 different stories about how they met. I think singles need to hear these stories." -Shani Silver, A Single RevolutionThis is the place to find those interviews! A massive THANK YOU to Shani for sparking my pilot light with this quote from her book, and an even bigger THANK YOU to Shani for coming on as our Season 2 Premiere guest. The wisdom with which Shani articulates the qualms of modern dating culture will have us all enrolling in The School of Shani Singledom! Happy Valentine's Day! Happy Galentine's Day! Maddy and Evan are one of the lucky couples who made it to the other side of the harsh realities of the Covid-19 quarantine. To get there, they had to meet each others' other sides. As scary as that was, they had the foresight to know it wouldn't be forever and they decided to love anyway. Cases are gaining momentum again, and who's to say they won't have to enter another storm before the dust has settled and they've had time to fully process the first? No one can say, that's who. But we'll all be rooting for them after this episode!
Hopefully everyone made in through the 4th of July holiday weekend without an episode of Pink Salt. I was distraught. We're coming back strong with Alex and Lisa, a newly-wed couple with enough joy, jokes and patience for bad movies to last the lifetime they will spend together. While Alex holds nothing on quite as high a pedestal as Lisa holds Selena Quintanilla, she still appreciates his conversion into the cult following... and his developing tolerance for Puerto Rican food. These have been minimal among their challenges both as a dating couple and a married couple, and I'm honored for them to have shared those challenges with us. Cheers to them!
My cousin Cecilia introduced me to the term "Bonus Dad," and when you hear this episode where she talks with hers, you'll understand why "Stepdad" just doesn't cut it. Alan's intentional approach to fatherhood has made him a father figure to so many in his family and community. Alan and Cecilia talk about why prioritizing their relationship with God has been so important, and who they credit for keeping the peace through the ups and downs. Happy Father's Day, Alan!
Happy Father's Day Papi!I was one of the majority of children who are rarely included in the decisions that have massive implications on their lives. Particularly in regards to their parents' divorce, a move, a change in school - the adults make those decisions. Maybe I have a chip on my shoulder that no one ever bothered to even check in with the younger me to see how I was dealing with those big changes. In some family dynamics it's bad or uncomfortable to bring up difficult topics. Every time I find the courage to ask a difficult question, I'm amazed by how gracefully my dad meets me with an answer. This is one such conversation - one that brought us a little closer and a little more clarity and healing and laughter on the other side. Thank you, Papi.
Alternative Titles for this episode include: "If we go to a party, I don't want anybody to have more fun than me," "Give me some good news," and "My Guys." The latter is my favorite because it's the perfect depiction of a man's relationship with three boys he helped make into men... and how much they love him for it. Hard work, resilience and positivity are traits Taylor might say he strives for because of the man is dad is; Rich might say his guys are who inspire him to be more hardworking, resilient and positive. But Rich also taught his kids not to skip over the pain and frustration which makes success and happiness taste so sweet. We're not skipping over it in this conversation either. Happy Father's Day Rich!
There's a special place in heaven for the people on this planet who decide to adopt. Parenting is not an easy job, but chances are if you've considered adoption, there's plenty more to it than you thought. From losing their first match to the time it takes to bond with a baby you didn't carry - and everything in between - Matt and Mike share a story of resilience. Having these guys for parents, along with all of their hobbies, Nora is bound to be one happy camper some day. Happy Father's Day, Matt and Mike!
Welcome to an exclusive inside scoop with my best friend and new mom, Titi Chloe. In this episode, we laugh a lot - probably more than you can stand - as we revert back to our fifteen year old selves. Her baby joins us about halfway through, so if you're listening to this, you'll be present for a beautifully intimate moment. This moment is only one of so many that make the sacrifice and surrender of life as we know it a no-brainer. Elena, one day you will know how lucky you are to have been born into this family. I know because of how lucky I am to know them. Chloe, it's been an honor to watch you evolve into this role. Thank you for coming on and Happy [First] Mother's Day!
Big or small, every family has secrets, big or small. This family has chosen to confront the secrets they were keeping from themselves and from each other. In this episode, we talk about the price and the payoff of the courage it took to face those secrets and the fears associated with them. This mother-daughter duo are a testament to the growth and healing that come with finding the authenticity we choose to hide. Happy Mother’s Day, Nancy!
Bonus Mom is the new Step Mom for all of those blended families out there! Stephanie is my bonus mom, and she opens up in this episode about some of the challenges of being a mother to a child with different abilities, a step mother, and finding balance. Her motherhood journey may look very different from what she imagined when she was younger, but her embrace of the winding roads and detachment from expectation is a true inspiration to all. Happy Mother's Day, Steph!
Welcome Santa Cruz! Yeah that's my mom real name and in this very special Mother's Day episode we celebrate her. We all have a relationship with our mother, whether we know her or not, whether or not she's living, and whether its good or bad. This is one that exists for everyone and likely ebbs and flows through a spectrum of feelings. My mom and I live that spectrum through this episode. She's a single mother who did her best which was not always appreciated, but she loved me fiercely anyway. Thank you mom, and Happy Mother's Day!
All month long we will be celebrating mothers! To kick us off, we have my cousin Jason and my aunt Mary. Their bond is unbreakable and in this episode we discuss whether that strength came from nature or nurture. I think we all decided it's probably a little bit of both. What's for certain is that not much can be gained by looking back, and there's always room to grow stronger... for ourselves and for our legacy. Happy birthday Jason and happy mother's day Tia!
This is goodbye for Maggie, but not the end of the podcast! Before she leaves, we talk about what’s really important: tequilt. And the debate around vaccinations, communication theory, and individualization versus tribalism. Cheers.
The idea of manifesting is thrown around a lot nowadays, but what really is it? Heather is a Manifesting Generator in the world of Human Design and today she talks to us about what that means. We reflect on the evolution of her self-worth journey from "rock bottom" to magnetically curating abundance in her life.
Lelia and Chase had an immediate connection, though they both tried to play it cool ;) In this episode, we dive into the evolution of their love from swiping right on Tinder to their wedding plans (and push… blame COVID.) They are incredibly open about their experiences with sex and monogamy, setting the stage for a healthy and intimate discussion about what happens in the bedroom. #chazzbotandlala4ever
