I got to sit down with Kevin Dailey - Nashville based producer, mix engineer, multi-instrumentalist and Songwriter.  We discuss in depth,  his journey into making his own music (under the moniker Garden Friend)  after years of producing other artists. We have been friends for a long time and I consider him a mentor of mine. Spend some time with his albums and prepare to be transported into a habitat of reflection, gravity and joy. I sat down with Atlanta upstart  - Chris Cigarettes . Chris is a rapper, artist and performer with infectious style. We chop it up about his unique approach to art, story telling and vocal performance. For someone being so new to the game Chris has a ton of wisdom and you can tell that his love for the craft is immense. I was an honor to connect with Netherlands based producer, teacher & recording artist Felbm .  His instrumental music is like stepping into a living ecosystem. Each song spins a narrative, without using words. We talk influences, creative process, limitations and being able to balance the inner critic with the inner child. He has amazing taste and incredible way of talking us through his creative process. I got to sit down with holdingold - Richmond Virginia based artist, rapper, mix engineer, producer and autotune enthusiast. We cover the art of autotune, fanny packs, diversifying your skillset and understanding your worth as an artist. It was such a blast to have him in studio for this one. He has a confidence about him that is to be admired - yet he also understands that he is on a journey and is making strides to grow everyday. Keep an eye on this one, he's taking off. I got a chance to sit down with Alex Fulton. Producer, Artist and recent business owner of the the Fulton Street Music Group. He has an immense amount of knowledge about the music industry and specifically the world of syncing. We talk about his origin story as a musician as well as the winding path that led him to start his own company, landing music in ads for Nike, Google Play and Netflix. I am super grateful for his time and energy - truly an incredible human. 

I sit down with KCAM - Richmond, Virginia based artist, rapper, singer and chef. We talk about vocal recording techniques , being an artist in Richmond and how creativity in the kitchen has helped him in the studio. He's got a beautiful way of looking at art and life in general. This conversation sparked an idea for me to record, sample and use household items to make a beat with. You can check in out here on my YouTube channel. Another one from the archives. I sat down with Justin Ruddy, song-writer, theologian, metalhead and one of my best buds. Our paths go back pretty far and I would have to say he is one of my greatest artistic influences. This episode was recorded in December of 2020 - we discussed our recording process for electric guitar on the Sanctuary EP, as well as some other juicy topics. I hope you will get as much out of this as you can, a lot of wisdom and love from this brother. 

Went back into the archives and pulled out a conversation I recorded with my dear friend and partner in grime Andrew Debaun. Banker my day, this dude moonlights as a super solid drummer, engineer, musician and friend. It was so much fun to listen back through this conversation and see the rumblings of what was to become the RE:NOISE podcast. This conversation was recorded in December of 2020. I sat down in studio with Pete Rango - Richmond, VA based producer, engineer and WEB 3 advocate. We talk through his origin story, the state of the industry, the importance of character development, and the rise/promise of Web 3.0. He has a lot of big ideas and I learned so much just from this one sit down. We also chopped it up about production techniques and I tried out one of the concepts he suggested. Had an amazing time talking with Thad Kopec - Nashville based artist and prolific producer. We walk through his take on being an artist and how he gradually made the shift into full-time production. I sat down with Eric Robertson co-founder of Pleasant Pictures Movie Club. He's a talented artist, producer and entrepreneur. We discuss the importance of production, setting boundaries to up your output and his journey into the world of music libraries and micro-syncing. I have had the privilege of having a few of my songs featured in PPMC and was honored to be able to spend some quality time with him. I felt inspired, excited and motivated to work after my time with him - I think you will to.  He is also crazy about vintage analog synths which inspired this partner YouTube video, where I take a deep dive into my favorite keyboard, the Elektron Analog Keys. Enjoy Keep Making Noise Y'all!

I got to spend time with Richmond Virginia based rapper, producer, singer and polaroid enthusiast Okay Cozy.  It was such a joy to hear his perspective on creative expression, viewing art as a job and why it's a good thing to get other people involved in your work. We were also able to record some original ideas while he was here ( check intro music on this episode). I highly recommend that you check out the video for his new single "Clouds" and everything else he puts out, its gold!  We discussed the importance of workflow and he shared some tips on how he saves presets in his DAW to reach for when he's ready to get an idea down. I chop it up with Florida based singer/songwriter, producer and artist Jordan Esker.  He was a joy to speak with - his passion & hunger for success were apparent from the beginning of our conversation together.  We make our way through philosophy on art, social media strategies and of course Quincy Jones.  He and his bands new record "Pica" is a sonic journey that I encourage everyone to take a listen to . You can see some BTS of his process on his YT page.  We also dive into the beauty of recording to tape and using the pitch wheel to manipulate your vocal tracks in interesting ways. I had the opportunity to sit down with Tiara & Andrew , an amazing couple based in the Richmond Virginia area. Their music is a haunting mix of soul, folk and shoegaze beauty. I was able to record them here in studio and have placed a few of the live performances through out the episode. The vibe in this place was unreal - I was stunned by the amount of power that came from just two people and a couple of microphones. We talk Aliens, the year of 2020, live performance, social media, mental health and making art through it all. I also made an accompanying video on my YT channel, walking through how I approached remixing one of the tracks that we captured in studio. You can check it out here. 

I chop it up with Mild Wild - Florida based artist, singer and cassette machine enthusiast. We dive into his music making magic, promotion in the age of algorithms and using a minimal DIY recording set up. He was a true joy to talk with and I can't get enough of his introspective/provocative/fuzzy bedroom pop. I made a video inspired by this episode on my YT Channel. I explore the 4 track cassette recorder to attempt a DIY Chorus effect. I sit down with Warren Lain. Music teacher, theory nerd, artist and cultural commentator. His website and subsequent YouTube channel is full of useful amazing content dealing with how to apply music theory into your everyday life, using your ear to assist you in the songwriting process and the how and why's of Radiohead song structure. I sat down with the wonderful Jessica Rae Huber. She is an amazing film composer with extensive credits to her name (The Walking Dead, Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Outlander). We dig into her origin story, her path to where she is now and how to stay guarded against cynicism  along the artistic journey.  She also gave us some useful music production tips that she uses in her everyday workflow. Brandon Lane - Musician , composer, arranger,  producer and scholar of all things funky.  We dig into the legacy of Earth, Wind & Fire, collaboration in the the time of COVID and the harrowing journey into releasing your own music. I highly recommend his record Time Alone - produced, recorded and mixed by him - all during quarantine.  A conversation with Cyrus Brxxks, Boston based producer, rapper, singer and graphic designer. We dive into creative process, hustle and staying peaceful in the midst of it all. I highly recommend his latest album Blackboy: Brer Rabbit vs America. We discuss the process of sampling your own music for creative purposes.
