Christine (47) and Thad (57) have been together for more than six years, but instead of building wealth, they're buried under nearly $340,000 of debt. Christine, the self-appointed “CFO,” is exhausted from tracking every bill, while Thad avoids the details and spends freely. Their conflicting money mindsets (Christine craving stability, Thad living for the moment) have stalled their big dreams like buying a home or taking Rich Life vacations that Christine longs for. With almost no savings and retirement looming, Christine fears she's approaching 50 with nothing to show for her hard work, while Thad insists a single plan will solve everything. Can Ramit help them break the cycle of avoidance and control, align their priorities, and finally start acting like teammates? In this episode we uncover: • Why Christine feels she's approaching 50 with “nothing to show” for her life • Thad's $17,000 student loan that ballooned up to $125,000 • How Christine became the household “CFO” while Thad continues to avoid responsibility • Their real numbers—and why Christine feels so stressed • Christine's frustration over micromanaging bills • Thad's upbringing in poverty • The invisible power of shame and fear, and why they can't see what's right in front of them financially • Christine's childhood lessons from parents who bought an unaffordable home • Thad's stark admission: if nothing changes, he'll be homeless Chapters: (00:00:00) When a worrier and an avoider meet… (00:02:59) “We have a plan… don't we?” (00:15:52) “Where is all the money going?” (00:19:54) Ramit breaks down their numbers (00:33:46) “I never expected to live past 30” (00:48:30) “I wish my dad was able to say no” (00:56:33) “I don't believe he'll follow through” (01:05:11) “We need to be playing way bigger” (01:22:38) “I don't feel like I have the power” (01:36:54) Where are they now? Welcome to Wellspring Church! In this message, Bishop Thad Barnum reminds us that we don't live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. Drawing from Deuteronomy, he shows that Scripture is never meant to be lifeless ink on a page—the Word becomes alive only when the Holy Spirit breathes through it.When the Spirit enlivens the Word, it does more than inform us—it transforms us. God's Word, spoken and alive, feeds our souls, shapes our hearts, and draws us deeper into communion with Him.

10 KEY MEDICARE CHANGES TO KNOW IN 2026 FROM BALTIMORE WASHINGTON FINANCIAL ADVISORS with Thad Ismart | CFP®, ChFEBC, CEPS Senior Financial Planner Medicare is changing in 2026, and the updates will impact premiums, drug costs, and benefits. In this episode, BWFA's Thad Ismart, CFP®, ChFEBC, CEPS, breaks down the 10 most important changes retirees and families need to know to stay prepared. Full Description Medicare plays a central role in retirement planning, but the program is constantly evolving. Beginning in 2026, significant changes are scheduled that will affect millions of Americans. Some updates may help retirees save money, while others could increase costs or reduce benefits. In this episode of Healthy, Wealthy & Wise, BWFA's Thad Ismart, CFP®, ChFEBC, CEPS, Senior Financial Planner, explains the 10 biggest Medicare changes coming in 2026 and what they mean for you. Among the most notable: Part B premiums are projected to increase by more than 11%, making healthcare more expensive for many retirees. On the other hand, prescription drug costs are expected to drop as new pricing rules take effect, and out-of-pocket caps will help limit spending. Thad also highlights program adjustments that may surprise beneficiaries. Medicare Advantage plans could scale back supplemental benefits, while Original Medicare is introducing new pre-authorization requirements in pilot states. These changes underscore the need for proactive planning to ensure coverage continues to align with your healthcare and financial goals. Listeners will gain practical strategies to navigate these shifts. Thad explains how to budget for rising premiums, how to take advantage of reduced drug prices, and why reviewing coverage annually is more important than ever. By understanding these changes in advance, retirees can avoid unpleasant surprises and adapt their plans to maintain stability. At BWFA, we integrate healthcare costs into every financial plan, helping clients prepare for Medicare updates and the long-term expenses of retirement. This episode offers clear guidance on what's ahead in 2026 and how to protect your financial future. For more resources, visit BWFA's Financial Planning Services.
This prompt came from the previous episode when Emily said something about "good time Charlies" so there ya. And here we are. There's some crackling audio to this one and I have no idea why, THAD!!!
THE OVERLOOKED $2 MILLION SOCIAL SECURITY MISTAKE FROM BALTIMORE WASHINGTON FINANCIAL ADVISORS with Sandy Hornor | CEPS Managing Director, Wealth Management & Executive Manager, BWFA and Tyler Kluge | CFP®, ChFEB℠, CPWA®, CDFA®, CEPS, Financial Planner, BWFA About This Episode Social Security benefits can add up to more than $2 million for some households, yet many wealthy families overlook their value. In this episode, Senior Financial Planner Thad Ismart explains how high-net-worth individuals can make the costly mistake of ignoring Social Security—and strategies to maximize its impact. Full Description When people think about Social Security, they often imagine modest monthly checks. But over a lifetime, benefits can exceed $2 million for many high-earning households. Unfortunately, wealthy individuals often dismiss Social Security as irrelevant, leaving valuable opportunities on the table. In this episode of Healthy, Wealthy & Wise, Thad Ismart, CFP®, ChFEBC, CEPS, Senior Financial Planner at BWFA, explores how affluent families can misuse—or underuse—Social Security benefits. Thad explains how treating Social Security as “extra” income rather than a strategic asset can lead to missed planning opportunities. The conversation covers practical ways to put Social Security to work. For instance, using benefits to help fund long-term care, cover estate taxes, or purchase life insurance that transfers wealth more efficiently. Thad also highlights strategies like gifting benefits into trusts, which can create tax-smart legacies for heirs. Listeners will come away with a better understanding that Social Security is not just a government check but a tool that can enhance a larger financial plan. Wealthy households that integrate Social Security thoughtfully may free up other assets for investment, giving, or family support. At BWFA, we help clients of all income levels make informed decisions that align with their goals. This episode encourages even high-net-worth families to reconsider the role Social Security can play in their overall strategy. For more insights, visit BWFA's Financial Planning Services.

Fantastic Video Version: https://youtu.be/soCk-nSTo6I Many Americans don't know this…but back in 1955, the Disney corporation was only a modestly profitable animation movie company. They had a couple of hits – but that was it. But, then, the founder, Walt Disney, decided to pour all his movie profits into something that had never been done before – a permanent, around the year, live action amusement park, which he called Disneyland (named after himself, of course). It was a giant financial risk for him that could have easily sunk his entire company, if it failed. Today, WE TAKE YOU BACK to the disastrous opening day of Disneyland, 60 years ago, in the summer of 1955. Can anyone possibly laugh this much? Watch and find out. We had fun recording it. We are delighted to welcome back professional video producer and cultural commentator, JOSEPH LONG, who has appeared in previous popular episodes. In this episode of the Crack House Chronicles Donnie and Dale tell the story of Joe Clark, aka The Bonebreaker. In July of 1995. 13-year-old Thad Phillips had fallen asleep in his living room watching a movie. Suddenly, he awoke to the feeling of someone lifting him up and carrying him away - initially he thought maybe it was his dad, bringing him upstairs to bed. But it wasn't. The person holding him was an older teen boy named Joe Clark. Joe carried Thad outside of his home and asked him to follow him to help fix his broken-down car. Still half asleep, Thad agreed, following Joe all of the way to a rundown broken home. He followed Joe into the home, not realizing he was about to endure the most terrifying, painful 43 hours of his life. The teenage boy that Thad thought could be a friend turned into his worst nightmare. https://www.crackhousechronicles.com/ https://linktr.ee/crackhousechronicles https://www.tiktok.com/@crackhousechronicles https://www.facebook.com/crackhousechronicles Check out our MERCH! https://www.teepublic.com/user/crackhousechronicles Sources: https://medium.com/tftunderworld/the-twisted-tale-of-joe-clark-the-baraboo-bone-breaker-401a63d7bdc6 https://criminalminds.fandom.com/wiki/Joe_Clark https://www.wkow.com/news/kidnapped-and-tortured-by-the-bonebreaker-survivor-never-receives-21m-award/article_d773fd16-db12-11ed-87df-af2b02c845d6.html

Fresh off his wedding celebration, Thaddeus Park opens up his life to listeners in this intimate Q&A episode, tackling questions submitted through Instagram that range from deeply personal to light-hearted and everything in between.Thad shares the joy of his recent nuptials, describing the red and gold-themed event (a nod to his beloved 49ers) as "one of the best days of my life." With candor and humor, he explains that while marriage hasn't drastically changed his relationship with Sasha—they've been committed to each other for years—there's something special about calling her his wife and hearing others address her as Mrs. Park. The episode takes a heartfelt turn when Thad discusses his brotherhood with best man DJ Happa Boy. "We show up," he explains simply, describing their unshakeable loyalty through life's victories and challenges. This theme of authentic connection carries throughout as Thad reveals what brings him genuine happiness: watching his daughter's volleyball games and witnessing her passion on the court.Listeners get an unprecedented look at the man behind the microphone as Thad explains the meaningful stories behind his tattoos—from his daughter's name designed as an ambigram to the lotus flower colored in his parents' favorite hues, symbolizing how they helped him flourish despite life's challenges. He even shares the significance of the Metallica lyrics inked on his collar: "So close, no matter how far," representing his eternal connection to his daughter.Whether you're a longtime fan or first-time listener, this episode offers a window into Thaddeus Park's world—his values, inspirations, and the relationships that matter most. Adjunct professor of psychiatry Arthur Lazarus discusses his article, "How inspiration and family stories shape our most meaningful moments," which presents a moving fictional story excerpted from his book. The narrative centers on Thad, a retired physician and aspiring writer, and his two daughters, one of whom is a new doctor herself. Arthur uses their dinner-table debate over creative license versus factual accuracy in Thad's writing to explore the nature of inspiration. The conversation delves into how we find authenticity in storytelling, with the father comparing his creative spark to Bruce Springsteen playing an unplanned song at a concert—arguing that fiction can reveal truths that reality obscures. The theme deepens as the family shares the powerful stories behind their names, revealing how a movie or a concert memory can create a legacy of meaning. Ultimately, the story culminates in the birth of a new baby, whose name connects a moment of shared joy between father and daughter, illustrating how inspiration is a spark that gets passed between generations, defining our most cherished connections. Today we welcome in a man all the way from the swampy bosom of Dallas, Texas. Music producer and filmmaker extraordinaire Thad Wenatchee joins the Pit to discuss everything from butt plugs, to geopolitics, to the new(ish) Toxic Crusaders project (which he produced the entirety of). But that's not all of course. As a lad born and bred in the Pacific Northwest, you can probably imagine there was a tad bit of culture shock in relocating to the Lone Star State. So we discuss a smattering of these moments along with a good old fashioned SNACK ATTACK on some of the best offerings the Big D can put forth. PATREON EXCLUSIVE: We do a Song Spelunker on Closing Time by Semisonic as well as have a heated debate on who's better: Christian Slater or Christian Bale.We also have some merch for sale up on our Etsy, as well as a limited run of embroidered beanies out now!
