When we are born we are born into a race that whether we like it or not we are running.  As we grow older we realize that the race is not as easy as we thought it would be.  The apostle Paul encouraged us to run in such a way that we would win.  Yes, we know there can only be one winner but run as if we are that winner.  If we don't we will give up and coast through life and miss out on a life that God wanted us to have that would not only be amazing but life changing for others.  Pastor Allen begins this summer series focusing on why we run to win.

The heart of man is desperately wicked and who can save it? Only God can. When God gives us a new heart everything about us should change. Our behavior, our speech, our attitudes, the list is endless. Why does everything change? Because out of our heart flows the issues of life. If we want to lead a life that is successful and pleasing to God then we must deal with the issues of our heart. When we do that we begin to walk in the peace, hope, and love that He said we could.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.  Fear, meaning honor, respect, reverence, not afraid that you cannot please Him and therefore you will receive His wrath.  It is fear of the Lord in the fact that His awesomeness and majesty are so amazing and powerful that the only response is to fall down on your face in humility and worship Him.  Everything in this world or any other pale in comparison to Him!

We cannot live a life that is pleasing to God without the fear of the Lord.  We cannot walk and live in wisdom without walking in the fear of the Lord. There is truly nothing greater than knowing Christ.  Not knowing about Him.  But having an intimate relationship with Him as the Lord of your life.  Joseph was a man that knew of the grace and faithfulness of God even in the midst of turmoil, betrayal, lies, and difficulties.  Why? Because of the relationship he had with God. And because of that relationship even in the hard times of life God still prospered him.  He was not successful for success sake but because of the blessing of God being on his life. It was more than reaping what he had sown. It was the direct result of trusting God and having faith in who God says He is.

Consistency is not only key to being successful in life, your job, your community, and your family, but it is an absolute in your spiritual walk.  Without it you will get what you get and for many people it's not what they want nor is it what they know God wants for their life as well. You will be consistent but the question is, are you being consistent in the things that matter.  Many followers of Jesus are consistent and discipline in the thing that don't matter to Jesus or those things that don't have eternal value.  Once you set your heart and mind on the things that God wants for your life and His kingdom your consistency has the power to change your world and the world around you.

Consistency is not only key to being successful in life, your job, your community, and your family, but it is an absolute in your spiritual walk.  Without it you will get what you get and for many people it's not what they want nor is it what they know God wants for their life as well. When Ezekiel was in the Valley of Dry Bones God showed him many things that would not only change his life but the lives of millions of people in the future.  God asked Ezekiel what he saw.  Ezekiel couldn't see through God's eyes but when God revealed it to him it changed his life and eventually our life.  You might see bones but God sees an army.

Christanity is not complicated.  It is really simple.  We were lost without Jesus.  We were not doing a great job at life and loving people.  Jesus came, paid the price for our sin, and didn't give us what we did deserve (judgement and separation from Him) and gave us what we didn't deserve (grace and mercy).  Our only action is to submit to Him and allow Him to change us from the inside out.  Done!  Divine simplicity.
