Remo is an experienced RMT in Ontario and a Sport Fellow with the Canadian Sport Massage Therapists Association of Canada (CSMTA). A Roma, poi, il loro legame come fratelli nella fede ha acquistato un significato particolare. Infatti, la comunità cristiana di questa Città li considerò come una specie di contraltare dei mitici Romolo e Remo, la coppia di fratelli a cui si faceva risalire la fondazione di Roma. Si potrebbe pensare anche a un altro parallelismo oppositivo, sempre sul tema della fratellanza: mentre, cioè, la prima coppia biblica di fratelli ci mostra l'effetto del peccato, per cui Caino uccide Abele, Pietro e Paolo, benché assai differenti umanamente l'uno dall'altro e malgrado nel loro rapporto non siano mancati conflitti, hanno realizzato un modo nuovo di essere fratelli, vissuto secondo il Vangelo, un modo autentico reso possibile proprio dalla grazia del Vangelo di Cristo operante in loro. Solo la sequela di Gesù conduce alla nuova fraternità: ecco il primo fondamentale messaggio che la solennità odierna consegna a ciascuno di noi. [...]TU SEI PIETRONel brano del Vangelo di san Matteo che abbiamo ascoltato poco fa, Pietro rende la propria confessione di fede a Gesù riconoscendolo come Messia e Figlio di Dio; lo fa anche a nome degli altri Apostoli. In risposta, il Signore gli rivela la missione che intende affidargli, quella cioè di essere la «pietra», la «roccia», il fondamento visibile su cui è costruito l'intero edificio spirituale della Chiesa. Ma in che modo Pietro è la roccia? Come egli deve attuare questa prerogativa, che naturalmente non ha ricevuto per se stesso? Il racconto dell'evangelista Matteo ci dice anzitutto che il riconoscimento dell'identità di Gesù pronunciato da Simone a nome dei Dodici non proviene «dalla carne e dal sangue», cioè dalle sue capacità umane, ma da una particolare rivelazione di Dio Padre. Invece subito dopo, quando Gesù preannuncia la sua passione, morte e risurrezione, Simon Pietro reagisce proprio a partire da «carne e sangue»: egli «si mise a rimproverare il Signore: ... questo non ti accadrà mai». E Gesù a sua volta replicò: «Va' dietro a me, Satana! Tu mi sei di scandalo...». Il discepolo che, per dono di Dio, può diventare solida roccia, si manifesta anche per quello che è, nella sua debolezza umana: una pietra sulla strada, una pietra in cui si può inciampare – in greco skandalon. Appare qui evidente la tensione che esiste tra il dono che proviene dal Signore e le capacità umane; e in questa scena tra Gesù e Simon Pietro vediamo in qualche modo anticipato il dramma della storia dello stesso papato, caratterizzata proprio dalla compresenza di questi due elementi: da una parte, grazie alla luce e alla forza che vengono dall'alto, il papato costituisce il fondamento della Chiesa pellegrina nel tempo; dall'altra, lungo i secoli emerge anche la debolezza degli uomini, che solo l'apertura all'azione di Dio può trasformare.LE PORTE DEGLI INFERI NON PREVARRANNOE nel Vangelo di oggi emerge con forza la chiara promessa di Gesù: «le porte degli inferi», cioè le forze del male, non potranno avere il sopravvento, «non praevalebunt». Viene alla mente il racconto della vocazione del profeta Geremia, al quale il Signore, affidando la missione, disse: «Ecco, oggi io faccio di te come una città fortificata, una colonna di ferro e un muro di bronzo contro tutto il paese, contro i re di Giuda e i suoi capi, contro i suoi sacerdoti e il popolo del paese. Ti faranno guerra, ma non ti vinceranno - non praevalebunt -, perché io sono con te per salvarti» (Ger 1,18-19). In realtà, la promessa che Gesù fa a Pietro è ancora più grande di quelle fatte agli antichi profeti: questi, infatti, erano minacciati solo dai nemici umani, mentre Pietro dovrà essere difeso dalle «porte degli inferi», dal potere distruttivo del male. Geremia riceve una promessa che riguarda lui come persona e il suo ministero profetico; Pietro viene rassicurato riguardo al futuro della Chiesa, della nuova comunità fondata da Gesù Cristo e che si estende a tutti i tempi, al di là dell'esistenza personale di Pietro stesso.SIMBOLO DELLE CHIAVIPassiamo ora al simbolo delle chiavi, che abbiamo ascoltato nel Vangelo. Esso rimanda all'oracolo del profeta Isaia sul funzionario Eliakìm, del quale è detto: «Gli porrò sulla spalla la chiave della casa di Davide: se egli apre, nessuno chiuderà; se egli chiude, nessuno potrà aprire» (Is 22,22). La chiave rappresenta l'autorità sulla casa di Davide. E nel Vangelo c'è un'altra parola di Gesù rivolta agli scribi e ai farisei, ai quali il Signore rimprovera di chiudere il regno dei cieli davanti agli uomini (cfr Mt 23,13). Anche questo detto ci aiuta a comprendere la promessa fatta a Pietro: a lui, in quanto fedele amministratore del messaggio di Cristo, spetta di aprire la porta del Regno dei Cieli, e di giudicare se accogliere o respingere (cfr Ap 3,7). Le due immagini – quella delle chiavi e quella del legare e sciogliere – esprimono pertanto significati simili e si rafforzano a vicenda. L'espressione «legare e sciogliere» fa parte del linguaggio rabbinico e allude da un lato alle decisioni dottrinali, dall'altro al potere disciplinare, cioè alla facoltà di infliggere e di togliere la scomunica. Il parallelismo «sulla terra... nei cieli» garantisce che le decisioni di Pietro nell'esercizio di questa sua funzione ecclesiale hanno valore anche davanti a Dio.LEGARE E SCIOGLIERENel capitolo 18 del Vangelo secondo Matteo, dedicato alla vita della comunità ecclesiale, troviamo un altro detto di Gesù rivolto ai discepoli: «In verità vi dico: tutto quello che legherete sulla terra sarà legato in cielo, e tutto quello che scioglierete sulla terra sarà sciolto in cielo» (Mt 18,18). E san Giovanni, nel racconto dell'apparizione di Cristo risorto in mezzo agli Apostoli alla sera di Pasqua, riporta questa parola del Signore: «Ricevete lo Spirito Santo. A coloro a cui perdonerete i peccati, saranno perdonati; a coloro a cui non perdonerete, non saranno perdonati» (Gv 20,22-23). Alla luce di questi parallelismi, appare chiaramente che l'autorità di sciogliere e di legare consiste nel potere di rimettere i peccati. E questa grazia, che toglie energia alle forze del caos e del male, è nel cuore del mistero e del ministero della Chiesa. La Chiesa non è una comunità di perfetti, ma di peccatori che si debbono riconoscere bisognosi dell'amore di Dio, bisognosi di essere purificati attraverso la Croce di Gesù Cristo. I detti di Gesù sull'autorità di Pietro e degli Apostoli lasciano trasparire proprio che il potere di Dio è l'amore, l'amore che irradia la sua luce dal Calvario. Così possiamo anche comprendere perché, nel racconto evangelico, alla confessione di fede di Pietro fa seguito immediatamente il primo annuncio della passione: in effetti, Gesù con la sua morte ha vinto le potenze degli inferi, nel suo sangue ha riversato sul mondo un fiume immenso di misericordia, che irriga con le sue acque risanatrici l'umanità intera.HO COMBATTUTO LA BUONA BATTAGLIACari fratelli, come ricordavo all'inizio, la tradizione iconografica raffigura san Paolo con la spada, e noi sappiamo che questa rappresenta lo strumento con cui egli fu ucciso. Leggendo, però, gli scritti dell'Apostolo delle genti, scopriamo che l'immagine della spada si riferisce a tutta la sua missione di evangelizzatore. Egli, ad esempio, sentendo avvicinarsi la morte, scrive a Timoteo: «Ho combattuto la buona battaglia» (2 Tm 4,7). Non certo la battaglia di un condottiero, ma quella di un annunciatore della Parola di Dio, fedele a Cristo e alla sua Chiesa, a cui ha dato tutto se stesso. E proprio per questo il Signore gli ha donato la corona di gloria e lo ha posto, insieme con Pietro, quale colonna nell'edificio spirituale della Chiesa. [...]

En octubre del año pasado nacieron Rómulo y Remo. Dos lobos. Hasta ahí no hay discusión. La polémica se abrió cuando la empresa que los creó, Colossal Biosciences, de Estados Unidos, anunció que eran lobos gigantes desextinguidos en base a ADN de restos fósiles y edición genética. Esta compañía privada de biotecnología, valuada en unos 10.200 millones de dólares, “produjo” a los dos lobitos en base a una técnica de edición genética llamada Crispr-Cas9. Unos meses se sumó una tercera integrante de la manada, llamada Khaleesi. Collossal sostiene que son lobos gigantes, que logró su desextinción después de 10.000 años de que esos animales no pisaran el planeta Tierra y muchos medios del mundo también lo comunicaron de ese modo. El marketing y los clicks se fueron a las nubes, pero pasan los días y crecen las voces que contradicen estas afirmaciones. “Son lobos grises modificados”. “Son lobos grises tuneados”. “Es imposible la desextinción de especies”. Estas son frases de científicos que, alrededor del mundo, contradicen a Colossal Bioscience y dan sus razones técnicas. Pero a eso se suma otro factor: el ético. ¿Es correcto “revivir” especies extintas? ¿Cómo impacta esto en el mundo, en la biodiversidad e incluso en los humanos? ¿Acaso estamos jugando a ser dioses? Los invitamos a entrar en este mundo apasionante del llamado lobo gigante, que desextinguido o no, seguro no deja a nadie indiferente. En La Mesa de Científicos buceamos en este tema junto a dos científicos, un filósofo y una especialista en periodismo científico: Juan Pablo Tosar, Daniela Hirschfeld, Javier Mazza y nuestro locatario, coordinador de las mesas de científicos, Héctor Musto.
